AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL EXPLORES REAL MONUMENTS MEN IN ALL-NEW SERIES, NAZI TREASURE HUNTERS

AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL EXPLORES REAL MONUMENTS MEN IN ALL-NEW SERIES, NAZI TREASURE HUNTERS

-- Premieres Tuesday, May 1 at 10/9c --

American Heroes Channel’s (AHC) announced today the premiere of NAZI TREASURE HUNTERS, a new series detailing the greatest heist in history. Taking on the biggest treasure hunt in the world today, NAZI TREASURE HUNTERS follows Founder and President of the Monuments Men Foundation for the Preservation of Art Robert Edsel, historian James Holland, and investigative journalist Conor Woodman as they travel the world exploring historic sites in search of famed artwork and treasures stolen during the Nazi era. In each episode, the team will delve into these cold cases and explore how the art was stolen and where it might be now. The eight-episode season of NAZI TREASURE HUNTERS premieres Tuesday, May 1 at 10/9c on AHC.

"It is my hope that Nazi Treasure Hunters will become America's Most Wanted for culture and lead to the discovery – and return to the rightful owners – of some of the hundreds of thousands of priceless objects missing since the end of World War II,” said Robert Edsel, also author of the New York Times #1 bestselling book-turned-movie “The Monuments Men.”

In the premiere episode of NAZI TREASURE HUNTERS, the team investigates Hermann Goering, the number two official in the Nazi party and one of history’s most notorious crooks. Goering started a multi-country looting operation and many of his stolen treasures are still missing. The team travels to Germany, Holland, the United States, Spain and Switzerland to understand the most ambitious looter of the Nazi regime and recover his stolen treasures.

If viewers have any information on the missing Nazi treasures, they can call the Nazi Treasure toll-free tip line at 1-866-994-4278 (1-866-wwiiart), or writing the Monuments Men Foundation at wwiiart@monumentsmenfoundation.org

Additional episodes of NAZI TREASURE HUNTERS are as follows:

“The Mystery of Rommel’s Gold”
Premieres Tuesday, May 8 at 10/9c
In 1943, the Nazis stole a huge cache of gold, currency and other valuables from the Jewish community of Tunisia and then the treasure disappeared. The team travels to North Africa, Corsica, Germany, and South America to separate fact from fiction and follow the trail of the missing loot.

“Hitler’s Obsession”
Premieres Tuesday, May 15 at 10/9c
Hitler had a dream to amass the world's greatest art collection; it was a dream that became Europe's nightmare. In this episode, the team investigates how Hitler oversaw the theft of thousands of art treasures from across Europe. Traveling to Austria, Germany and the United States of America, the team hunts down a 15th Century tapestry that once hung on the wall of Hitler’s dining room.

“Nazi Gold”
Premieres Tuesday, May 22 at 10/9c
In April 1945, American soldiers blasted a hole in the wall of an underground mine in Germany. Inside: neatly stacked canvas bags full of looted gold worth an incredible $9 billion today, but amazingly just a fraction of the gold stolen by the Nazis during the war. In this episode, the team investigates why gold was so vital to the Nazis, the brutal methods they used to get it, and where some still missing gold may be hidden today.

“Missing Masterpiece”
Premieres Tuesday, May 29 at 10/9c
Adolf Hitler invaded Poland to find Lebensraum or "living space" for the German people. Instead, he laid waste to towns and cities, murdered millions and stole mountains of treasure. In this episode the team investigates the Nazi looting of Poland and specifically the still missing Portrait of a Young Man by Renaissance artist Raphael.

“Blood Treasure”
Premieres Tuesday, June 5 at 10/9c
The war between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union claimed tens of millions of lives. It also produced two of the greatest stolen treasure mysteries of all time. In 1941, Nazi armies captured the palace of the Russian Tsarina Catherine the Great and stole the contents of her legendary Amber Room, a treasure worth an estimated $150 million and still missing today. Four years later, Soviet armies took their revenge by capturing Berlin and looting thousands of art treasures, which disappeared behind the Iron Curtain, and where some could remain hidden in Putin's Russia today.

“City of Loot”
Premieres Tuesday, June 12 at 10/9c
In June 1940 the Nazis captured Paris, one of the wealthiest cities in the world and the epicenter of European art and culture. This episode explores the story of how the Nazis systematically looted the entire city over four years of occupation. The team focuses its investigation on the Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg (E.R.R.), a special task force headed by Nazi "philosopher" Alfred Rosenberg. The ERR set up at the Louvre and the Jeu de Paume where priceless works of art stolen from all over France were sorted and collected for Goering and Hitler.

“Stealing Italy”
Premieres Tuesday, June 19 at 10/9c
In July 1943, Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini lost power and the Nazis take control of most of Italy. This episode explores the frenzied looting of that country by the Nazis in the last year of the war and reveals a secret OSS/CIA mission that helped save some of the greatest treasures of western civilization.

AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL AND TIME INC.’S PEOPLE® PRESENT THE 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD TO COMBAT WOUNDED COALITION FOUNDER LT. JASON REDMAN

Inspired by the Heroism of ”The Man in the Red Bandanna” Welles Remy Crowther, Redman Selected as the 2017 Red Bandanna Hero For His Commitment to Supporting Service Members Wounded in Combat
“9/11 HERO: THE RED BANDANNA LEGACY” Produced by Time Inc. Productions Will Have World Premiere on AHC Saturday, October 28 at 10/9c

(Silver Spring, Md., October 19, 2017) — American Heroes Channel (AHC) and Time Inc.’s PEOPLE have partnered with the Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust to present the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD in memory of 9/11 hero Welles Remy Crowther, also known as ”The Man in the Red Bandanna.” This year’s winner is retired Navy Seal Lieutenant Jason “Jay” Redman, founder of the Combat Wounded Coalition, a non-profit based in Virginia Beach, Va. that is dedicated to inspiring combat-wounded veterans to overcome adversity through four pillars of support: Pride, Power, Purpose and Peace.  A television special produced by Time Inc. Productions, 9/11 HERO:  THE RED BANDANNA LEGACY will also highlight three Red Bandanna Heroes when it premieres on AHC on Saturday, October 28 at 10/9c.

On September 13, 2007 during a combat operation in Fallujah, Iraq, Lt. Redman and his assault team came under heavy machine gun fire.  Lt. Redman was severely wounded after being shot through his arm and in his face.  Despite having 37 surgeries during his recovery at Bethesda Naval Medical Center, Redman refused to allow his injuries to defeat or demoralize him; instead, he authored a bright orange sign condemning others for viewing him as a “victim” and hung it on the door of his hospital room. This sign evolved into a statement of empowerment for the wounded warrior community, thus inspiring Lt. Redman to create the Combat Wounded Coalition to support combat-wounded service members and the families of the fallen.

“It is my absolute pleasure to present the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD to Lt. Redman, a true American hero and a remarkable champion for the wounded veteran community and their families,” said Kevin Bennett, general manager of American Heroes Channel. “Welles, Lt. Redman and all of our Red Bandanna Heroes selflessly put the needs of others above their own, and AHC is proud to give them the recognition they so profoundly deserve for their lifechanging work.”

“Even 16 years after Welles Crowther died helping others on 9/11, his selfless spirit lives on in the recipients of the RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD,” said Jess Cagle, editor in chief, PEOPLE.  “We are honored to feature them in PEOPLE magazine and in the TV special.”

As the 2017 RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD winner, Lt. Redman will be featured in the all-new special, 9/11 HERO: THE RED BANDANNA LEGACY premiering worldwide Saturday, October 28 at 10/9c on AHC. The hour-long special, produced by Time Inc. Productions, celebrates American heroes nationwide, not only by retelling the selfless story of Welles Crowther, but also by showcasing the remarkable, inspiring stories of three heroes nominated by AHC viewers who invoke the true heroic spirit of the Red Bandanna in their everyday lives. In addition to Lt. Redman, the other two Red Bandanna Heroes featured in the special are Merideth Spriggs, founder and chief kindness officer of Caridad, an organization dedicated to educating the public on issues of homelessness, and Staci Baldwin, founder of the Jackson Baldwin “Pay It Forward” Foundation, a non-profit created in memory of her son that assists families of children suffering from serious illness or injuries through financial and emotional support. Each of the Red Bandanna Heroes will receive a donation to their organization, in addition to being featured on-air and online in custom “Hero Moment” vignettes.

As this year’s RED BANDANNA HERO AWARD recipient, Lt. Redman will also be recognized on the field during the annual, nationally-televised primetime Red Bandanna Football Game held at Boston College, on Friday, October 27 at 8 PM ET against Florida State.

For 18 years, Theodore John Kaczynski mailed and planted handmade explosive devices, traumatizing the American people, claiming the lives of three innocent victims and injuring nearly two dozen more. Dubbed the "Unabomber," Kaczynski eluded authorities in one of the longest-running domestic terror investigations in FBI history. Now, American Heroes Channel (AHC) examines the infamous game of cat-and-mouse between law enforcement and Kaczynski in the all-new special, UNABOMBER: 20 YEARS OF TERROR premiering Sunday, September 24 at 10/9c on AHC.

Throughout the hour-long special, UNABOMBER examines the investigation from top to bottom, carefully dissecting Kaczynski's clever and calculated actions - from his virtually-untraceable devices to his radical anti-technology manifesto to his staggering need for recognition that led to his eventual downfall. Featuring interviews with multiple of attack victims as well as members of the law enforcement team that doggedly pursued Kaczynski for nearly two decades, UNABOMBER is an in-depth, 360-degree look at the man and madness behind these terrifying acts.

AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL RECALLS THE TRAGIC EVENTS OF APRIL 1995 IN “OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING: AS WE WATCHED”

-- One-Hour Special Premieres Sunday, August 13 at 10/9c, only on AHC—

(Silver Spring) – On April 19, 1995, the deadliest domestic terror attack on U.S. soil occurred at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The bombing, carried out by Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, left 168 people dead and more than six hundred injured. Now, American Heroes Channel (AHC) and ABC News’ Lincoln Square Productions have joined forces to revisit the tragic events in OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING: AS WE WATCHED. The one-hour special, premiering Sunday, August 13 at 10/9c, transports viewers back to that spring day with compelling news footage of the days and weeks following the attack.

At 9 a.m. on April 19, 1995, McVeigh and Nichols parked a Ryder truck containing a 4,800-pound bomb near the freight entrance of the building and detonated the bomb. Damage from the explosion spread blocks away from the building, and could be heard from miles away. AS WE WATCHED uses archival footage from ABC News to detail how law enforcement and the FBI tried to piece together who could have carried such an attack. The special documents every moment of the FBI investigation, from the initial bombing to the eventual arrest and conviction of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols.

OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING: AS WE WATCHED is produced by Lincoln Square Productions, with Peri Muldofsky and David Perozzi as executive producers. For American Heroes Channel, Max Culhane is executive producer; Sara Kozak is senior vice president of production; Kevin Bennett is general manager; and Henry Schleiff is Group President of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America.

·         8 PM ET/ 7 PM CT – AGAINST THE ODDS: The Heroes of Tarawa
Everything went wrong in America's first test of whether the Japanese-held islands of the Pacific, the key steppingstones to the doorstep of Japan, could be captured by across-the-beach infantry assaults. History's lessons were grim and indicted the tactic as disastrous. But, the march back from Pearl Harbor had to begin, and the testing ground would be heavily fortified Tarawa, proclaimed by a Japanese commander to his emperor that, "Tarawa could not be taken by a million men in a million years." If he was right, the Japanese had won the Pacific war.

·         9 PM ET / 8 PM CT – AGAINST THE ODDS: The Battle for Sugar Loaf Hill
Taking an otherwise nondescript hill on the embattled island of Okinawa proved to be one of the most incredible battles of WWII. The young weary marines of Charlie Company strained against the searing Pacific sun to see the top of Sugar Loaf Hill. The epic battle would come down to the sheer courage, ingenuity and guts of the young men of Charlie Company who went mano-a-mano against their foe.

·         10 PM ET / 9 PM CT – AGAINST THE ODDS: A Chance in Hell: The Battle of Ramadi
When Colonel MacFarland arrived in Iraq's deadliest city, Ramadi, the odds could not have been worse. Al-Qaeda had arrogantly declared Ramadi to be the capital of a new caliphate. The boys of MacFarland's Ready First Combat Team would fight to give America a clear victory. Like their brothers off the coast of Normandy, or the shores of Iwo Jima, the freezing mountains of the Chosen Reservoir, or in the deadly streets of Hue City, they would overcome the odds by taking care of each other.

SUNDAY, MAY 28

·         8 PM ET/ 7 PM CT – AIR ACES: ‘Gabby’ Gabreski
During WWII, American pilots race to shoot down the most enemy planes and be crowned the countries' top flying ace. US Air Force Pilot Francis ‘Gabby’ Gabreski, the child of Polish immigrants, makes his mission personal, seeking to avenge his families' devastating losses during the war. But despite his passion, the young wannabe is accident prone and incompetent behind the controls. The ultimate underdog, Gabreski squeaks by his flying test. Fired up, he makes a brave request to join one of the famed Polish fighter units in England's Royal Air Force, but he struggles to shoot down a single Nazi plane. Everything changes when he is transferred back to the US Air Corps 61st Squadron; escorting bombers over occupied France, Gabreski scores his first victory. When the top brass shift tactics to protect allied ground troops storming Normandy, the fighters are ordered to shoot down the enemy. Gabreski and his ace competitors all see this as a golden opportunity to make history as the best that ever flew.

·         9 PM ET / 8 PM CT – SURVIVING D-DAY
This is the epic story of the twelve-hour battle for Omaha Beach, which changed the course of World War II – D-Day. But one of the biggest turning points in modern history hinges on some surprising factors. It is a battle where strategy was decided by stage magicians. Where conventional weapons were used alongside outlandish inventions like floating tanks and exploding paratroopers, and where spies sent paintings with hidden messages. It is a battle where skill and cunning sit alongside leadership and bravery. D-Day: who survives and why?

MONDAY, MAY 28

·         8 PM ET/ 7 PM CT – STORMING NORMANDY: Preparing for War

·         9 PM ET / 8 PM CT – STORMING NORMANDY: Launching the Assault
June 6, 1944 - the D-Day Invasion begins.  See first hand, through combat camera footage, the brave men who risked their lives while storming the Normandy beaches and their march onward to liberate Paris.  Their heroism saves the world from Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Empire.

·         10 PM ET / 9 PM CT – COMMANDER IN CHIEF: INSIDE THE OVAL OFFICE – Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis ***Special Airing in Commemoration of JFK’s 100th Birthday***
October 2012 marks 50th anniversary of the most dangerous moment in human history - the Cuban missile crisis. In every presidency there comes a moment, a decision to be made, when the president becomes the Commander-in-Chief.  For thirteen days in October 1962, the US and the Soviet Union stood paralyzed on the brink of nuclear war. Using rare images and declassified audio recordings, this behind-the-scenes story takes us deep into chambers of power where President John F. Kennedy resisted the forces pushing him towards war and pulled the world back from the edge of total destruction.
