About "David Makes Man"
Critics' Choice and Gotham Award nominee "David Makes Man" is a one-hour lyrical drama from Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney ("Moonlight"), his first TV project. McCraney serves as executive producer of the series alongside Dee Harris-Lawrence ("Shots Fired," "Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.") who serves as showrunner. Mike Kelley and Melissa Loy ("Revenge") under their Page Fright production banner, Michael B. Jordan via his Outlier Society Productions and Oprah Winfrey are also executive producers. "David Makes Man" centers on a 14-year-old prodigy from the projects who is haunted by the death of his closest friend and relied on by his hardworking mother to find a way out of poverty. He must choose between the streets that raised him or the higher education that may offer him a way out. Set in South Florida, the series is inspired by events in McCraney's own life and explores childhood trauma and the power of imagination to survive. The drama stars Akili McDowell ("The Astronaut Wives Club") as David, a ferociously observant, instinct-driven, passionate teenager, who toggles between two distinct personas that reflect his surroundings and metabolizes his world like a chameleon, but not without exacting an emotional price; Alana Arenas ("Hall of Passes") plays David's hard-working single mother Gloria, a former drug user with a smile that melts and while rarely home, she wants better for her kids than what they've got; Isaiah Johnson ("Hamilton") plays Sky, an enigmatic and wise dope dealer who is also David's close friend and occasional mentor in the projects; Travis Coles ("Liza on Demand") portrays Mx. Elijah, gender queer and assigned male at birth and doesn't consider herself 'trans,' but always thought of herself as both, Mx. Elijah doesn't disclose pronouns as long as it's with respect - a long-time Homestead Village resident who knows a great deal, but discusses few; Phylicia Rashad ("Creed II") plays Dr. Woods-Trap, the lithe, alive, quick-witted and intimidating teacher that is motherly yet firm toward David, seeing something very special in him and remains an advocate for him; Nathaniel Logan McIntyre ("Celebrity Ghost Stories") plays Seren, David's incredibly vulnerable best friend at the magnet school for academically gifted kids who takes a risk by revealing a painful secret to David; Cayden K. Williams ("Girls Trip") plays Jonathan "JG" Greg, David's rough-and-tumble younger brother, who acts tough in front of his peers but still needs his big brother and mom to be there for him; Ade Chike Torbert ("East Los High") is Raynan, the local drug dealer running the movements in The Ville who talks a good game about taking care of the neighborhood and running things for Sky while also attempting to connect with David the way Sky did, except he seeks a disciple not a friend or brother; Jordan Bolger ("Peaky Blinders") plays Shinobi, Raynan's second-in-command who nearly comes to blows with David, whom he resents. The series also features Tony winner and Emmy/Golden Globe nominee Ruben Santiago-Hudson ("The Quad," "Billions"), Elvis Nolasco ("American Crime"), Gillian Williams ("The Girlfriend Experience"), Juanita Jennings ("Star"), Liza Coln-Zayas ("Proven Innocent"), Lindsey Blackwell ("Step Sisters"), Lela Rochon ("Training Day") and Nick Creegan, all with recurring roles.

The series is produced for OWN by Will Packer Media in association with Lionsgate and its producer-distributor Debmar-Mercury.

"Ambitions," which had its series premiere in June, explores the sexy, deceitful machinations of love, power and politics in America's hottest urban mecca, Atlanta, Georgia and centers around the intense rivalry between formidable legal eagles Stephanie Lancaster (Robin Givens) and Amara Hughes (Essence Atkins), ex-best friends from college who are adversaries in both their personal and professional lives.

Jackée Harry and Kimberly Elise Star in "Carole's Christmas" (Nov 22)
Aloma Wright and Tim Reid Star in "Baking Christmas" (Nov 29)
Los Angeles - OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today its first foray into TV movies with three new original holiday movies set to air over three consecutive Fridays in November beginning with "One Fine Christmas" premiering November 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The movie stars Rick Fox and his daughter Sasha Fox - their first time acting together.

"We are excited to bring holiday movies to OWN," said Tina Perry, president, OWN. "This special time of year is about spending time with the ones you love, and we think our viewers are going to enjoy watching these movies together throughout the season."

About the Holiday Movies:
"One Fine Christmas" premieres Friday, November 15 at 9pm ET/PT
Marking the first time they have acted together, Rick Fox and his daughter Sasha Fox star in "One Fine Christmas." The father/daughter duo join beloved actress Marla Gibbs and fan favorite Vanessa Williams in the ensemble cast. The families on Christmas Street have been busy with their day-to-day lives that they lose sight of the importance of family during the holiday season. Haley (Sasha Fox) comes home for the Christmas holiday, but home has not been the same since her family split up. Haley's mother Susan (Williams) is working on a new work deal with her client (Rick Fox) which causes her to hardly have time for Haley or her mother Alice (Gibbs). Al (Mark Christopher Lawrence) is too preoccupied with work that he overlooks his wife Matty (June Carryl). Meanwhile, Bob (Rodney Van Johnson) and Diana's (Eva La Dare) son Jesse (Alfonso Torres Caballero) comes home for Christmas with a very special surprise. This "slice of life" holiday tale shares the individual stories of these neighbors as they celebrate Christmas Eve and find themselves unexpectedly united for the holiday season.

"Carole's Christmas" premieres Friday, November 22 at 9pm ET/PT
Starring acclaimed actresses Jackée Harry and Kimberly Elise, "Carole's Christmas" tells the story of Carole Jordan (Elise), an overworked businesswoman who learns the meaning of "be careful what you wish for" after she off-handedly wishes she had taken another path in life. When Carole's wish is granted, her world is turned upside down and the only person she can confide in is Iris (Jackée Harry), a woman she recognizes from her "past life." Carole no longer has time for the things that mattered most to her - family, friends and her annual Christmas party. She quickly learns how grateful she was for the previous life she was living. "Carole's Christmas" also stars Cayden K. Williams (star of OWN's "David Makes Man"), Bianca Buck and Anthony Montgomery.

"Baking Christmas" premieres Friday, November 29 at 9pm ET/PT
When Patty (Aloma Wright), the founder of the town's most popular and successful bakery, announces her plan to retire at the end of the year, her children step up to take over the family business. Patty and Phillip's (Tim Reid) children, Jennifer (Khalilah Joi), Angela (Leigh-Ann Rose) and Anthony (Arnell Powell), are qualified - and eager - to run the enterprise, and each has their own ideas for writing the bakery's next chapter. There is only one way to ensure the shop ends up in the right hands and that is a Christmas cake bakeoff. The gloves come off and the frosting flies as the siblings vie for control of the bakery in an unforgettable competition to create the best-ever Christmas confection. "Baking Christmas" also stars Yohance Myles from OWN's "Ambitions."
The movies are produced for OWN by Hybrid, LLC in association with Harpo Films.

"I'm thrilled to further explore the beauty, pain and triumph of this African-American family, with hopes that their story will continue to resonate with audiences who see themselves in the Bordelons," said DuVernay. "It's a real honor to create this work with Warner Horizon and OWN as their support is rock-solid and wonderful."

"Ava's vision for 'Queen Sugar' is one of inspired storytelling, and her execution of that vision has given us a remarkable series that makes us so proud," said Tina Perry, president, OWN. "Her leadership and creative spirit - including the commitment to exclusively hire female directors and establish an inclusive crew - is unprecedented and evident throughout each episode of this beautiful series. We are grateful to Ava and her entire team of talented writers, producers, cast and crew and look forward to another season."

Led by the talented cast of Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner and Kofi Siriboe, "Queen Sugar's" storylines have delved into important topics such as police brutality, addiction and recovery, and systemic racism to name a few. The series has been awarded the NAACP Image Award for best drama and for three consecutive years was named Best TV Show Drama by the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) and nominated as Television Show of the Year by the American Black Film Festival (ABFF).

"Queen Sugar" is currently Wednesday night's #1 original series across all of broadcast and cable for African-American women and total viewers. It has averaged a 1.54 rating W25-54 and 1,655,000 total viewers. The series' W25-54 rating is up +2% over last year and it's the #6 original scripted series on ad-supported cable (W25-54).

At the outset of production DuVernay established an inclusive initiative to hire an all-female directorial team. Since its debut in September 2016, 35 women have directed episodes of "Queen Sugar," 32 of whom made their television directorial debut on the series. The inclusive hiring extends in front of and behind the camera, with a dozen female department heads from casting and production design to post-production and music supervision.

The overwhelming response to the series was also evident each week on social media demonstrating the strong connection viewers have to seeing multi-faceted portrayals of an African-American family on television. On a recent episode where two characters experience separate triggering events with sexual assault and police brutality, OWN and Warner Horizon Scripted Television worked in partnership with DuVernay's ARRAY Impact to host a live social conversation #QUEENSUGARTALKS, featuring industry leaders such as Common and Iyanla Vanzant who answered questions and provided resources to those who may be personally affected by these issues.

About Queen Sugar
From award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay (16-time Emmy nominated "When They See Us" and upcoming romance anthology series "Cherish the Day" for OWN), the contemporary drama "Queen Sugar" features the Bordelon family who are fighting to save their family farm to preserve their father's legacy while navigating their own personal journeys. In season four, Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) has remained in the thick of the trials and tribulations in both her personal and professional life as she continues to battle the Landry family while also trying to ensure Micah's (Nicholas Ashe) safety and future. Nova (Rutina Wesley) has published her memoir and goes on a book tour around the country sharing family secrets and shaking things up at home. Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) is managing fatherhood and his complicated relationship with ex-girlfriend Darla (Bianca Lawson) after learning he is not the biological father of his son, Blue (Ethan Hutchison), and is encouraged by an old friend to create opportunities for formerly incarcerated men.

The expansive cast also includes Tina Lifford as the siblings' free-spirited Aunt Violet who revealed her Lupus diagnosis to her family while opening her own pie shop; Omar J. Dorsey as Violet's new husband Hollywood Desonier; and Henry G. Sanders as Prosper Denton, a farmer and longtime friend of the late Bordelon family patriarch, Ernest. Walter Perez plays Romero, Charley's new romantic interest, while recurring guest star Timon Kyle Durrett portrays Charley's estranged husband and pro basketball player Davis West. Greg Vaughn portrays Calvin, a former cop who reconnects with Nova during her book tour.

"Queen Sugar" is produced for OWN by Array Filmworks and Harpo Films in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television. The season four executive producers are Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey, Paul Garnes and Anthony Sparks. The series is based on the book by Natalie Baszile.
