Three weeks ago we passed along word that on May 29th Kino Lorber will be releasing Haunted - The Complete Series on high-def Blu-ray Disc. In an update to that report, we pointed out that the original 2010 DVD release of this title was out-of-print, following the studio which originally put it out (Phase 4 Films) being acquired a few years later by another studio (Entertainment One, or "eOne"). We didn't know at the time if Kino Lorber would also re-release the title on DVD, or if this would only be a Blu-ray release. Kino Lorber has followed up on their social media accounts, answer this question by stating that they "were just interested in the BD rights," and only licensed those rights from CBS (who ultimately owns the short-lived 2002 series). KL pointed out that CBS currently hold the DVD rights, and that they could re-release it on that format if they want to. As of this writing, however, CBS has not given any public indication that they plan to do so. In the meantime, the old DVD-format release from Phase 4 is still available to buy at Amazon.com via many third-party sellers...many of them selling "new" copies for under $10. In the meantime, if you want the show starring Matthew Fox (Lost, Party of Five) on high-def media, Kino Lorber is still on track to bring that out to you in eight weeks! They've finalized the package art, and provided a "beauty shot" of it below (notice that the outer slipcase will no longer have the blue colored Blu-ray "banner" across the top of the front, but you'll see the Blu-ray logo on the spine, at the bottom just underneath the CBS logo (denoting their ownership of the program; KL's logo is at the top of the spine). Immediately below is a list of the episodes, followed by an Amazon pre-order button link for the upcoming Blu-ray Disc release, followed by that finalized package art. A rising star of the Seattle police, Frank Taylor's guilt over the kidnapping of his son destroys his marriage and costs him his job. Two years later, now a private investigator specializing in finding missing persons, Frank is shot by a suspect, whom he in turn kills. On the operating table Frank (Matthew Fox, Bone Tomahawk, TV's Lost) is declared dead, but then is miraculously revived. After recovery, Frank begins to have strange episodes, he hears unusual noises and sees people who aren't there, including the suspect he had killed. He realizes that he's still connected to the world of the dead. Desperate and frightened at first, he comes to realize that his hauntings can help him solve cases and save lives, and may ultimately help him solve the mystery of what happened to his son. On May 29th KL will release Haunted - The Complete Series on high-def Blu-ray Disc. Priced at $39.95 SRP, it comes on 2 discs in a limited edition slipcase. It starred Matthew Fox, marking his first TV series after Party of Five, and which was the show he had before his popular role as "Dr. Jack Shephard" on Lost. UPN's Haunted didn't catch on at the time, and was cancelled due to low ratings. But fans have kept memories of this show alive, and we're sure that this will be news to brighten their day! Currently this title has been announced for Blu-ray only; no DVD version is indicated. If that changes, we'll certainly let you know. In the meantime, we've got an early look at the Blu-ray cover art for you below. This may not be finalized yet, however, and could be subject to change.
