*TUNE-IN REMINDER*

“CARTER,” STARRING JERRY O’CONNELL,
RETURNS FOR SEASON TWO ON MONDAY, JANUARY 20 at 10PM/9C ON WGN AMERICA

Watch the trailer for the new season: HERE

The second season of WGN America’s comedic procedural series “Carter” will premiere January 20 at 10 PM/9C.

Jerry O’Connell (Billions), Sydney Poitier Heartsong (Chicago P.D.) and Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black) return for the show’s sophomore season. Andy Berman (Psych, Rosewood) joins “Carter” as the showrunner and executive producer and series creator Garry Campbell (Kids in The Hall, MADtv) returns as an executive producer and writer on the series.

In Episode 201, “Harley Wears A Wig,” Harley Carter’s first official case as a P.I. is a kidnapping with a surprising twist. Complicating matters is the fact that a new, exciting Police Chief with a dark past has landed in Bishop to shake things up for Harley and Sam, and to set the table for a tantalizing season of twists. Guest starring Colin Mochrie

“Carter” revolves around Harley Carter (O’Connell), the star of a hit detective TV show, who decides he needs a break from Hollywood. Carter returns to his sleepy hometown where he quickly discovers that his years of playing a fictional detective come in handy when he finds himself immersed in real-life mysteries. In season two, Carter plants roots as a celebrity Private Investigator and doubles down on his fame in a world where life continues to imitate TV. But Carter will discover that the toughest cases to solve are personal ones when he finds himself embroiled in a love triangle with his best friend – a real detective – and her new police chief, played by Lyriq Bent (She's Gotta Have It), where the stakes are winner takes all.

“Carter” is produced by Amaze Film + Television, executive produced by the company’s Teza Lawrence and Michael Souther (Call Me Fitz, Saint Ralph) as well as Campbell, Berman, series star O’Connell, and Sony Pictures Television’s Gemstone Studios serves as executive producers. Carter was originally commissioned by Sony Pictures Television and is distributed outside of Canada by Sony Pictures Television.

[via press release from WGN America] WGN AMERICA, SONY PICTURES TELEVISION AND CANADA'S CTV PICK UP "CARTER" FOR SEASON TWO

Comedic Procedural Series Starring Jerry O'Connell to Return This Year
Los Angeles, CA (January 23, 2019) - WGN America, Sony Pictures Television's networks, and Canada's CTV announced today the renewal of the comedic procedural series Carter for a second season, starring Jerry O'Connell (Billions), Sydney Poitier Heartsong (Chicago P.D.) and Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black). Andy Berman (Psych, Rosewood) joins Carter as Showrunner and Executive Producer for its sophomore season, which will return to North Bay, Ontario to commence production this spring. Series creator Garry Campbell (Kids in The Hall, MADtv) returns as an executive producer and writer on the series.

"Carter and Jerry O'Connell are beloved by viewers and critics alike," said Gavin Harvey, President of WGN America. "This show is the perfect mix of procedural drama and witty comedy, and we look forward to seeing how its story further unfolds."

Carter revolves around Harley Carter (O'Connell), the star of a hit detective TV show, who decides he needs a break from Hollywood and returns to his northern hometown where he quickly discovers that his years of playing a fictional detective come in handy when he finds himself immersed in real-life mysteries. In season two, Carter plants roots as a celebrity PI and doubles down on his fame in a world where life continues to imitate TV. But Carter will discover that the toughest cases to solve are personal ones when he finds himself embroiled in a love triangle with his best friend and her new boss, where the stakes are winner takes all.

The series was commissioned by Sony Pictures Television (SPT) for AXN in Spain, Latin America, Brazil, Japan, Central Europe and Russia; and by CTV in Canada. The series is distributed by SPT worldwide, excluding Canada. In the U.S., Carter aired on WGN America as its most-watched original series in 2018. In Canada, Carter made CTV's sister channel, Bravo, the #1 specialty channel in its timeslot. Carter has also been a boon to AXN around the world. For example, it has been a success across Europe, reaching 6.5 million total viewers in 2018.

"Carter is the perfect counter-balance to the darker, more serialized fare we are commissioning and buying around the world," said Marie Jacobson, EVP, Programming and Production for Sony Pictures Television Networks. "Jerry O'Connell is a force of nature and we couldn't be more excited to produce an even bigger, funnier, elevated second season for our fans around the world."
"Partnering with strong global players to produce content that works both at home and abroad is foundational to our original production strategy, and Carter ticks all those boxes," said Mike Cosentino, President, Content and Programming, Bell Media. "We are thrilled to work with the team at Sony and WGN America, our partners at Amaze, and this brilliant cast to bring fans more Harley Carter."

Carter is produced by Amaze Film + Television, executive produced by the company's Teza Lawrence and Michael Souther (Call Me Fitz, Saint Ralph) as well as Campbell, Berman and series star O'Connell.

[via press release from WGN America] WGN AMERICA PICKS UP TWO NEW SERIES, SHOWCASING THE LIGHT AND DARK OF DETECTIVE PROCEDURALS

Witty Comedy "Carter" and Explosive Crime Drama "Gone" Add Star-driven Depth to Network's Current Programming Slate

Los Angeles, CA (June 12, 2018) - WGN America unveiled two new originals today, exhibiting the full spectrum of the beloved detective procedural genre: lighthearted detective comedy "Carter," starring Jerry O'Connell ("Billions"), Sydney Poitier Heartsong ("Chicago P.D.") and Kristian Bruun ("Orphan Black"), and crime drama "Gone," starring Chris Noth ("Sex and the City," "Law & Order," "The Good Wife"), Leven Ramblin (The Hunger Games) and Danny Pino ("CSI: Miami").
"Carter" is a sharp, 10-episode series that revolves around Harley Mackay (O'Connell), an actor playing a detective on a hit television show until he is forced to retreat to his sleepy hometown after an embarrassing public meltdown in Hollywood. Now that he's back, he taps into his acting experience to become a real-life detective, partnering with his two best friends, Sam Shaw (Heartsong) and Dave Leigh (Bruun). "Carter" will make its debut on WGN America on Tuesday, August 7.

"Gone" follows the story of Kit "Kick" Lannigan (Rambin), survivor of a highly publicized child-abduction case, and Frank Novak (Noth), the FBI agent who rescued her. Determined never to fall victim again, Kick trains herself in martial arts and the use of firearms. She finds her calling when Novak persuades her to join a special task force he created dedicated to solving abductions and missing persons cases. Paired with former Army intelligence officer John Bishop (Pino), Kick brings her unique understanding of a predator's mind to the team. The series is set to premiere early 2019.
"'Carter' and 'Gone' are very exciting additions to WGN America's superb Prime Crime lineup," said Gavin Harvey, president of WGN America. "Both shows bring stellar casts and appealing stories to powerfully complement the network's multi-faceted mix of hit procedurals, dramas and comedies."
"Carter" was created by Garry Campbell ("MADtv") who developed it alongside writer John Tinker ("Chicago Hope"). It is produced by Amaze Film + Television, and it is executive produced by the company's own Teza Lawrence and Michael Souther ("The Stanley Dynamic," "Call Me Fitz"). The series' pilot is directed by Scott Smith ("The Magicians," "Skins"). "Carter" was originally commissioned by Sony Pictures Television Networks and is distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television.

"Gone" is executive produced by Matt Lopez, NBCUniversal International Studios' EVP, Scripted Programming, JoAnn Alfano, Sara Colleton, Kim Moses and Barry O'Brien also serve as executive producers.
