Ironside - Shout! to Wheel Out 'Season 4' DVDs in 'Wide' General Release Available at participating stores near you this August

In October 2010, Shout! Factory released a DVD set for Ironside - Season 4, starring Raymond Burr, bringing to home video exactly half of the program's 8-season run. However, the item was only available online, via the studio's website store, as a part of a program called "Shout! Select" at the time. Note that back then, the phrase referred to DVD releases of TV shows and movies which could only be bought via the Shout! online store. The term fell into disuse by the studio for a while, then was recently revived to be used for a new Shout! Factory program: "Shout! Select" currently refers to a lineup of movie releases which the studio feels, in their own words, are "enduring cult favorites and unheralded gems.." As the original use of the "Shout! Select" phrase fell into disuse, so the titles released under that old program also became discontinued. Some items, though, still have fans looking to buy those titles! The result? Shout! has decided to re-release a few of these, and this time put them out into stores "wide" at traditional general retail. One of them is Ironside - Season 4. This word follows fast on the heels of this past Tuesday's "wide" general release of Season 3, which had also previously been a "Shout! Select" online-only title. An Amazon.com listing shows (scroll down to the "product details" section) that this season 4 set will be available on August 22nd. It's a 7-disc set, and cover art is below. Hopefully this will sell well enough that Shout! will consider going after the rights to release the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th seasons for DVD. Time will tell, though.

Ironside - 'Season 3' Returns to DVD: in Stores this Spring from Shout! 7-disc set with the show's 3rd season (of 8 total) is coming back to home video

From his uniquely equipped office at SFPD headquarters, Chief Robert T. Ironside (Raymond Burr) continues to lead his special police unit fighting crime that others cannot. His crack team includes Sergeant Ed Brown (Don Galloway), ex-con-turned-assistant Mark Sanger (Don Mitchell) and policewoman Eve Whitfield (Barbara Anderson). In January 2010, Shout! Factory released a 7-DVD set for Ironside - Season 3. However, it was only available online, via the studio's website store, as a part of a program that was called "Shout! Select" at the time. Note that back then, the phrase referred to DVD releases of TV shows and movies which could only be bought via the Shout! online store. The term fell into disuse by the studio for a while, then was recently revived to be used for a new Shout! Factory program: "Shout! Select" currently refers to a lineup of movie releases which the studio feels, in their own words, are "enduring cult favorites and unheralded gems"; they have nothing to do with the old "Shout! Select" program of years past. As the original referral of the "Shout! Select" phrase fell into disuse, so the titles released under that old program also became discontinued. Some items, though, still have fans looking to buy those titles! The result? Shout! has decided to re-release a few of these, and is even putting them out to stores "wide" at traditional general retail. One of them is Ironside - Season 3. The 7-disc set of this season will be available May 9th. Amazon.com has a listing for the item, and they show the package art below, but they aren't accepting pre-orders as of this writing. The list price is $44.99 SRP. Our thanks to reader Jackson Burnett for his help with this story!
