COMPLEX NETWORKS BRINGS THE NO. 1 SNEAKER SHOW, ‘SNEAKER SHOPPING’ TO MSG NETWORK STARTING OCTOBER 27

Host Joe La Puma Interviews Pop Culture Icons, Famous Athletes and Musicians About Their Favorite Footwear

New York, October 25, 2017 -- Today Complex Networks and MSG Networks announced that they have partnered to bring popular episodes from Complex's hit digital series "Sneaker Shopping" to television. Beginning October 27, MSG Network will air an episode of "Sneaker Shopping" as part of the recently announced “MSG Shorts” programming, following select Knicks and Rangers games. Popular episodes of “Sneaker Shopping” featuring sports and cultural luminaries including the Ball Family, Allen Iverson, Jimmy Butler, Deion Sanders, Logic and more will run on MSG Network during the NBA and NHL season. “Sneaker Shopping” featuring Logic is up first in “MSG Shorts” on Friday, October 27 after the Ford Knicks Postgame Show.

Hosted by sneaker aficionado and Complex Network’s Vice President of Content Strategy Joe La Puma, “Sneaker Shopping” puts a spotlight on the styles, silhouettes and significance of sneaker culture through the eyes of bold-faced names in music, sports, film, television and pop culture. Over the years “Sneaker Shopping” has featured everyone from Kevin Hart, Roger Federer, Sean “Diddy” Combs, 50 Cent, Bella Hadid, Marshawn Lynch, DJ Khaled, to New England Patriot’s owner Robert Kraft, and the Ball Family, all sharing thoughts on their life, career and personal style with La Puma through the lens of sneakers and style. The show averages nearly two million views per episode on Complex.com and YouTube.

“As we look to bring compelling content to our viewers, we recognize that not all stories fit neatly into 30 minute or 60 minute windows,” said Kevin Marotta, senior vice president of marketing and content strategy, MSG Networks. “Ultimately, our viewers are looking for something that ignites their passion, regardless of how long it is. By partnering with a brand like Complex that has done an incredible job of engaging a young audience with short-form content, we’ll be tapping into some of our viewers’ key passions: sports, music and sneakers.”

“It goes without saying that sports and sneakers go hand in hand,” comments Rich Antoniello, CEO, Complex Networks. “Joe has always been on the forefront of this obsession – he’s an authority -- and his finger has been on the pulse of sneaker culture long before the masses. Sneaker Shopping is a series that’s cool and inclusive and underscores what Complex culture is all about so we are excited to be partnering with MSG Network to give fans a new way to engage in and experience this footwear phenomenon.”

“MSG Shorts,” a new hour-long block featuring original and acquired short-form content and programming, will air after select Knicks and Rangers game coverage throughout the season. “MSG Shorts” kicks off on Friday, October 27 following Knicks coverage. “MSG Shorts” range from 2-20 minutes and will feature new short-form content rolled out throughout the season, along with long-form player interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

Eight-Part Series, From Executive Producer Ronda Rousey, First Female UFC Champion, Presents An Immersive And Gritty Look Into Modern Day Warriors

WHY WE FIGHT TRAILER: https://youtu.be/pa_VbLrgVmU

(New York, October 3, 2017) – Complex Networks’ new original docuseries “Why We Fight,” executive produced by Ronda Rousey, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) first female bantamweight champion and Olympic medalist in Judo, premieres Wednesday, October 18th. Across the eight, 45-minute episodes, “Why We Fight” follows a talented and troubled young fighter, Zac “Kid Yamaka” Wohlman, on his pilgrimage across the globe. Struggling with his own demons, he encounters fellow warriors who have their own issues and reasons for stepping into the ring. Inspired by the short film "Kid Yamaka" directed by Matt Ogens, “Why We Fight” is produced by Dirty Robber and Religion of Sports, and is distributed on Complex’s digital channel, available via go90™

“Why We Fight is a powerful, visceral and multi-layered journey that goes beyond the ring and explores the motivations that compel these athletes to compete in their sport,” said Justin Killion, general manager of premium content for Complex Networks. “We’re honored that Zac shared his personal story with us. ”

“We expect the series will hook viewers far beyond the traditional fight audience,” said Chris Uettwiller, CEO of Dirty Robber, co-producers of the series. “Through Zac, we were able to capture an authenticity rarely seen in the fight world. Why We Fight allows the viewer to see the fears and vulnerabilities of men and women who might otherwise appear invincible.”

Wohlman, originally from San Fernando Valley, California, battled with a drug problem throughout his childhood and currently faces a painkiller addition that threatens to destroy his career. The docuseries follows Zac on his odyssey to heal his wounds so he can return to the ring a better fighter and better person. Viewers experience this emotional and physical roller coaster as the conflicted boxer establishes deep and meaningful bonds with these fighters he meets on his travels. It’s raw and uncensored emotion – as visceral and moving as the fights themselves.

“Fighting is the most primordial instinct we have,” added executive producer Gotham Chopra. “Zac’s willingness to take us with him into his own quest to uncover why we fight has been a raw and awesome odyssey and one I’ve been proud to be a part of.”

“We’re incredibly excited about partnering with Complex, Dirty Robber and Religion of Sports to bring Zac’s personal journey to fighting fans everywhere,” said Ivana Kirkbride, Chief Content Officer of go90. “Why We Fight epitomizes go90’s vision of providing fans with content from exceptional producers, that they can connect with on an emotional level, all while bringing them deeper inside the world of their favorite sports.”

In the first episode, Zac travels to Tijuana, Mexico to study the art of boxing. It’s in this first episode that Zac reveals he’s been addicted to opioids following an injury, and is now doing his best to rebuild his confidence and regain his skills.

“Why We Fight” is executive produced by UFC Champion Ronda Rousey. Executive Producers for Dirty Robber and Religion of Sports, LLC are Gotham Chopra, Matt Ogens, Martin Desmond Roe, Chris Uettwiller and Adam Feinstein. For Complex Networks, Justin Killion and Melanie Moreau.

(NEW YORK, September 27, 2017) - Pigeons & Planes, the influential music discovery site and part of Complex Networks, launches its latest video series, “Hounded,” today on YouTube. Breaking from the traditional interview mold, “Hounded” calls on adorable puppies to start a dialogue with the biggest names in music. And although the puppies are soft, their questions are not.

Each puppy delivers a question around its neck that the artist must read and answer before moving on to the next question. By the end of the “interrogation,” the guest is surrounded by seven puppies, creating an experience they will never forget.

Grammy Award-winning artist and actor Wyclef Jean kicks off the premiere as the first musician to be hounded by the “pupparazzi” and talks everything from childhood memories to the lowest point in his life. Wyclef has also recently released his first new album in over eight years, Carnival III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee, available here.

The series features a recurring segment called “Name That Pooch,” sponsored by Old Spice, where guests are asked to name one of the puppies. And while they are given a name, the pups still need a home.

The puppies in each episode of “Hounded” are adoptable. Pigeons & Planes partnered with North Shore Animal League America for the series to help puppies find loving homes. For information on the organization and adoption, visit www.animalleague.org or call (516) 883-7575.

“Hounded” airs bi-weekly on Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. ET on Pigeons & Planes’ YouTube channel.

Pigeons & Planes, part of Complex Networks, delivers the latest in music news and artists on the rise. The platform gives a voice to the voiceless in a variety of genres, whether it’s from established artists or newcomers, using a mix of editorial, social and video content.

New York, NY — August 7, 2017 — Complex Networks’ Rated Red announced today that its coming-of-age comedy “Play By Play” has been greenlit for seasons 2 & 3, to air exclusively on go90. The series (which is comprised of eight 22-minute episodes) is currently airing season 1 on the platform, with the finale slated for Tuesday, August 15th. “Play By Play” follows Pete Hickey (voiced by creator Kevin Jakubowski and played by Reid Miller, “The Fosters” on Freeform), a present-day sportscaster, as he looks back on his teenage years in the 90s and gives the play-by-play account of his awkward adolescence. The show heads back into production beginning today.
Episodes of “Play By Play” are available on go90.com or on the go90 app, available for iOS or Android.
“I’m thrilled to continue telling Pete Hickey’s story. We had so much fun recreating 1994, we can’t wait to get started on ‘95,” remarked Kevin Jakubowski, creator and executive producer.

In 1994, Pete Hickey was a lowly freshman football kicker at St. Roman’s High — a Chicago Catholic League sports powerhouse. Unlike his father and brother before him, Pete’s a born benchwarmer; he just hasn’t realized it yet. But with the help of his best friend and fellow benchwarmer Rocco (Max Amor, of the short film Red Top) and his secret crush Alex (Ellee Jo Trowbridge, “Sam and Cat” on Nickelodeon), Pete learns to navigate the highs and lows of high school.

FULL INTERVIEW AVAILABLE HERE

New York, NY (July 26, 2017) THE COMPLEX COVER profiles Lana Del Rey on the heels of her recently released fourth studio effort Lust for Life. In the interview – filmed at the Prohibition era-inspired, Hollywood hotspot No Vacancy and produced in the nostalgia-inducing style of the 50s and 60s she’s known for – Del Rey opens up to Complex’s Noah Callahan-Bever about the album’s overall lighter tone, explains her decision to weave elements of the current political climate throughout the record, reflects on her experience collaborating with her friends, explores her growth as an artist, and more.

Lana Del Rey Quotes From The Complex Cover interview

On the potential of her political songs alienating her core fan base
“You don’t negotiate when it comes to your work or your art. You stand totally firm and take the consequences. In terms of losing fans, I don’t care. Period.”

On how she’s grown as an artist since her first album Born to Die
“Maybe just the ability to integrate my own experiences with what I’m observing. To be able to reflect back, like a good mix of inner world [and] outer world.”

On the challenge of revealing a personal side musically as she achieved greater success
