Over a year ago, at the end of February 2017, we passed along word that ClassicFlix was planning DVD releases for two older TV shows. One of those, the 1966 show starring Imogene Coca called It's About Time, was successfully released in June 2017. The other, 1959's Lock-Up starring Macdonald Carey (Days Of Our Lives), hasn't been seen yet. One of our longtime readers checked in with ClassicFlix about that, and passed along their response to us. We directly contacted ClassicFlix ourselves to confirm the info, and they have verified exactly what was forwarded to us: that the source material was no longer in a good enough condition to continue the project. The studio's exact words to us were, "due to deteriorating film elements, ClassicFlix has put Lock-Up on permanent hold, and it is not likely to be released any time soon." That's unfortunate to hear, but we appreciate the studio being straightforward about it to us and to the show's fans, so we all know what the situation is! Our thanks to them for that, and to longtime reader John Cerone for making us aware of this in the first place. ClassicFlix isn't ready to announce any other classic TV-DVD titles right now, but they are looking into possible projects for the future. We'll pass along word as soon as we know anything concrete, so stay tuned!

ClassicFlix has been around for well over a decade, and describe themselves to customers as "THE Classic Movie Site on the Web; renting and selling ONLY the classics (pre-1970)"...but lately they're not just renting or selling DVDs and Blu-ray Discs: they are making them, too! It's been all about the films for the most part, so far. But yesterday ClassicFlix announced that they are venturing out into the TV-DVD market, too! Here's a quote: Two rarely-seen television shows will also be making their DVD debut having never been available on any home video format: It's About Time (The Complete Series) – starring Frank Aletter, Jack Mullaney, Imogene Coca and Joe E. Ross Lock-Up (Season 1) – starring Macdonald Carey and John Doucette Releases are expected to start in late spring. Nice! It's great to see that the 1959 syndicated show (which lasted 2 seasons and 78 episodes) is getting a solid DVD release with Lock-Up - Season 1, coming to DVD later this year! And naturally we all remember show star Macdonald Carey in his long-running central role as "Dr. Tom Horton" on Days of Our Lifes; it will be terrific to see him play Herbert L. Maris (the name of a real-life Philadelphia-area lawyer!) in Lock-Up. A specific release date, cover art, pricing and other details haven't been finalized yet, but stay tuned!
