“CBS THIS MORNING” LAUNCHES MONTHLY ORIGINAL SERIES “THREE MEALS” AHEAD OF 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

CBS THIS MORNING today launched its monthly original series “Three Meals” ahead of the 2020 presidential election. Each month, “Three Meals” will head to a key state for breakfast, lunch and dinner with the people who will select our next president. To capture a diverse spectrum of perspectives, CBS News correspondents and contributors will sit down with local residents from across the country to gain a fuller picture of life in their communities and the issues being raised on the campaign trail.
This series will build upon two previous “Three Meals” stories from CBS News contributor and NPR host Steve Inskeep in which he visited Missouri last fall and Ohio in January ahead of the closing of the General Motors Lordstown plant. For the latest installment, which aired on CBS THIS MORNING today, Inskeep went to South Carolina where he dined with residents in Charleston, Orangeburg and Spartanburg. “‘Three Meals’ is an important series and an example of CBS THIS MORNING’s commitment to focusing on voters leading up to the 2020 election,” Executive Producer Diana Miller said. “CBS THIS MORNING will have more reporters on the ground than ever before, and this series highlights the issues facing diverse communities across America and what will ultimately drive their decision in the upcoming election.”
Each weekday morning, Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs. The broadcast has earned a prestigious Peabody Award, a Polk Award, four News & Documentary Emmys, three Daytime Emmys and the 2017 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast. The broadcast was also honored with an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award as part of CBS News division-wide coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
