Paid Off With Michael Torpey – “Let ‘Em Eat Cake” Premieres Tuesday, May 28 at 10:00PM ET / 7:00PM PT on truTV
truTV’s Paid Off with Michael Torpey, the comedic game show on which contestants compete to win money to pay off their student debt, premieres an all-new episode on Tuesday, May 28 at 10:00PM ET  / 7:00PM PT. In episode “Let ‘Em Eat Cake,” college grads College grads Tiffany, Cory and Kathleen compete for a chance to pay off their student loan debt. Plus, special guests Shaq, Chuck, Kenny and Ernie from Inside the NBA help answer math questions in the dumbest way possible.

REMINDER - With each new episode, viewers have the ability to get in on the action with the new Live Lighting Round call-in element. At the end of each new episode, viewers will be prompted to call in for a chance to win up to $3,000 each in cash to put towards their student debt by answering three trivia questions with Torpey broadcasting live from a studio in New York City.

The tenth and final episode of the inaugural season of truTV’s newest scripted comedy, Tacoma FD, premieres on Thursday, May 30th at 10:30pm ET/PT. In “Fire at the Dispensary,” it’s the anniversary of Terry busting a nut to save Eddie’s life and the biggest football game of the year! But the party gets interrupted when a fire breaks out at a local weed dispensary – which at least ends the day on a high note!

truTV’s Paid Off with Michael Torpey, the comedic game show on which contestants compete to win money to pay off their student debt, returns with 16 new episodes on Monday, May 13 at 10:00pm ET/PT. Along with bigger prizes, the series is introducing an all-new live call-in game to give away even more money to viewers watching at home. truTV will premiere four new episodes that first week – each night at 10:00pm ET/PT through Thursday – before moving into its regular timeslot on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:00pm ET/PT.

MORE ABOUT ‘PAID OF WITH MICHAEL TORPEY’
The student loan crisis is ridiculous, so comedian Michael Torpey (Orange is the New Black) is solving it in the most ridiculous way possible – a comedy game show. Paid Off with Michael Torpey gives three lucky college grads – all saddled with student debt – the chance to test the depth of their degrees with fun, fast-paced trivia questions. In the end, one lucky winner will get the chance to have their student debt paid off.

With these new episodes, Torpey once again endeavors to raise awareness of a massive issue, while simultaneously providing life-changing opportunities one contestant at a time. Contestants win bigger sums of money throughout the run, with more than $1 million in prize money being awarded throughout the season. Also, for the first time, Paid Off with Michael Torpey viewers will be able to get in on the action as truTV introduces a Live Lightning Round call-in element into the premiere telecast of each new episode. At the end of each new episode, viewers will be prompted to call in for a chance to win up to $3,000 each in cash to put towards their student debt by answering three trivia questions with Torpey broadcasting live from a studio in New York City.

In addition to the new Live Lightning Round, this latest batch of episodes of Paid Off with Michael Torpey will include five themed-episodes that highlight the different ways student debt impacts people’s lives. These include: “It Started with a Tweet” for fans with student loan debt who asked to be on the show via social media; “Do Gooders” which features contestants working in the non-profit arena; “Too Broke To Wed” which highlights contestants whose debt is preventing them from marriage; “Back in the Nest” for those who were forced to move home because of their crushing student debt payments; and “Made in America” for first-generation Americans who are saddled with this debt.

Michael Torpey is best known for his work on Orange is the New Black (Netflix), Red Oaks (Amazon) and Sneaky Pete (Amazon). His other credits include Inside Amy Schumer (Comedy Central), Last Week Tonight (HBO), The Eric Andre Show (AdultSwim), 30 Rock (NBC), The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix), Law & Order: SVU (NBC) and as a frequent guest performer and announcer on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He's been in numerous commercial campaigns including Hanes, where he starred opposite NBA legend Michael Jordan, and Chase Bank, where he ruined the song Footloose.
