The Paper Chase - 'Season 4: The Final Season' is on the Docket for DVD Coming from Shout! Factory in late January

Critically acclaimed for its complex and thoughtful storytelling, the final season of The Paper Chase: The Final Season is at long last available on DVD. Based on the 1973 film of the same name, The Paper Chase follows a dedicated class of Ivy League law students as they navigate the trials and tribulations of law and life. Under the tutelage of professor Charles W. Kingsfield, Jr. (John Houseman, reprising his Academy Award-winning role), the idealistic James T. Hart (James Stephens) and his classmates explore the fierce competition and intense bonds that form in a high-pressure academic environment. As graduation day nears for Hart, he must decide between a Federal Second Circuit Court clerkship and an offered position in a private firm. Includes all six Season Four episodes. After releasing the first two seasons in 2009, and the third season last month, Shout! Factory has announced that on January 23rd they will release The Paper Chase - Season 4: The Final Season on DVD. This will be a 2-disc set for $22.97 SRP. The short season was 5 episodes long, with the series finale - "Graduation" - being a double-length episode (often counted as two episodes when counting up stories for this show). Showtime aired this ending season in 1986...thirteen years after the theatrical film which started it all, with the legendary John Houseman in his career-defining role as Harvard law professor Charles Kingsfield. Houseman is joined in these episodes by James Stephens (Father Dowling Mysteries), Tom Fitzsimmons (Black Sheep Squadron), James Keane (Spawn), Andra Millian (Thirtysomething), Michael Tucci (Grease, It's Garry Shandling's Show, Diagnosis Murder), Peter Nelson (V, V: The Final Battle), Clare Kirkconnell (Dream On; Amazing Stories), Lainie Kazan (My Favorite Year, The Nanny, My Big Fat Greek Life), and Penny Johnson (Castle, 24, The Larry Sanders Show, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Orville). Based on the 1973 film of the same name, The Paper Chase follows a dedicated class of Ivy League law students, as they navigate the trials and tribulations of law and life. Under the tutelage of Professor Charles W. Kingsfield, Jr. (John Houseman, reprising his Academy Award-winning role), the idealistic James T. Hart (James Stephens) and his classmates explore the fierce competition and intense bonds that form in a high pressure academic environment. Includes all twelve Season Three episodes. Waaaay back in 2009, Shout! Factory released both the first and second season of the show...but then had trouble licensing the final two seasons of the series from the program's owners! Now those difficulties seem to be resolved at last, and Shout! has announced that the long-awaited DVD release of The Paper Chase - Season 3 will finally happen on September 26th. Lainie Kazan (My Favorite Year, My Big Fat Greek Wedding) joined the cast this season, as did Peter Nelson (V, V: The Final Battle) as Ford's younger brother, "Tom." There were 12 episodes in this Showtime-aired season (and only half that amount in the show's fourth and final season, which hasn't been announced for DVD yet).
