A bit over a month ago we had the most recent update about Kino Lorber's new 2018 release, on DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc, of the 1980 mini-series The Martian Chronicles, starring Rock Hudson. Now the studio has provided new details, plus cover art, for this title! Created from a brand-new high-def master, and including English subtitles, this item is the complete mini-series with a bonus Interview with actor James Faulkner. Also featured is reversible DVD and Blu-ray Disc cover art, and the Blu-ray Disc version includes a Limited Edition O-Card slipcover as well. Back in November we passed along word that Kino Lorber is working on a first-ever Blu-ray Disc release and also a DVD re-release for 1980's miniseries The Martian Chronicles, starring Rock Hudson, Darren McGavin, Roddy McDowall, Bernadette Peters, Joyce Van Patten, Gayle Hunnicutt, Bernie Casey and others. At the time we had no other info than the heads-up that this title was in-the-works. But now Kino Lorber has revealed their spring-and-early-summer schedule for 2018, and The Martian Chronicles for DVD and Blu-ray Disc was included on the list! It shows that we can expect this to be available on June 26th. Details, pricing, package art and other info has not yet been finalized and sent out thus far. The Martian Chronicles (1980) Starring Rock Hudson, Gayle Hunnicutt, Bernie Casey, Darren McGavin, Roddy McDowall, Bernadette Peters, Joyce Van Patten, Maria Schell and Fritz Weaver - Shot by Ted Moore (Goldfinger, Thunderball) - Music by Stanley Myers (The Deer Hunter, The Witches) - Screenplay by Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes) and Richard Matheson (I am Legend, Duel) - Directed by Michael Anderson (Logan's Run, The Quiller Memorandum). The above says it all...at least for now! This past Friday, Kino Lorber posted on their Facebook page the word that the 1980 mini-series The Martian Chronicles, based on the classic story by Ray Bradbury, is coming back to DVD in 2018. And debuting in Blu-ray format, too! The show was first released on disc in 2004, with MGM putting it out. Now Kino Lorber is giving the show a new high-definition master, and creating their new DVDs and Blu-rays with the entire uncut mini-series. A specific release date isn't finalized yet, nor pricing or package art. But KL has provided the following image at their Facebook page, to tease us all with!
