SHERMAN’S SHOWCASE TO RETURN TO IFC FOR HOUR-LONG “BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPECTACULAR”…THIS SUMMER

SHERMAN’S SHOWCASE TO RETURN TO IFC FOR HOUR-LONG “BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPECTACULAR”…THIS SUMMER

As the Temperature Rises, ‘Drop It Low’ for the Musical Variety Sketch Sensation Hosted by the Legendary Sherman McDaniels
PASADENA, CA – JANUARY 16, 2020 – IFC announced today that the Critics’ Choice Award-nominated Sherman’s Showcase will return with a one-hour “Black History Month Spectacular” this summer (yes, you read that right). Created by and starring Bashir Salahuddin (Top Gun: Maverick, South Side) and Diallo Riddle (Marlon, South Side), and executive produced by John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Co. and RadicalMedia, the witty, irreverent and wholly original Sherman’s Showcase “Black History Month Spectacular” will feature more of the sketches,  A-list guest stars, and original hit, award-winning songs that, all together, earned the series a 100% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and inclusion on numerous ‘Best of 2019’ lists.
Said Blake Callaway, executive director of IFC and SundanceTV: “Who decided that Black History only gets one month, and a cold one at that? We can’t wait to see what Diallo and Bashir have created to kick off the summer. This one-hour spectacular will celebrate black excellence no matter what month it airs.”
“When the network told us we could do an hour-long episode, we said we wanted it to be the Black History Month episode. When they warned us that the episode might not air until the summer, we said we wanted it to be the Black History Month episode. It was a brief negotiation,” said creators and stars Riddle and Salahuddin.
Self-dubbed the “blackest show in the history of television,” the acclaimed Sherman’s Showcase will roll out its “Black History Month Spectacular” over the summer because, as the creators said, “Sherman McDaniels needed a little extra time to get everything just right.” And true to form, when Sherman isn’t honoring historic African-American icons both past and present, he’ll have ninjas, vampires, Ethiopian rebels, and the singing group that gave us Drop It Low for Jesus, back with another song that’s bound to offend somebody.
The Sherman’s Showcase guest star roster has boasted a “who’s who” of movies, music, sports and entertainment, with two EGOT winners and multiple award-winning artists, actors and entertainers. Guest stars included (alphabetically): Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor; Natasha Bedingfield, Emmy®-, GRAMMY®– and Oscar®-winner Common, Morris Day, Emmy®-winner Tiffany Haddish, Lil Rel Howery, Emmy®-, GRAMMY®-, Oscar®– and Tony®-winner Quincy Jones, Emmy®-winner Mike Judge, Kenny and Keith Lucas, Emmy®-, GRAMMY®-, Oscar®– and Tony®-winner John Legend, Nigel Lythgoe, Curt Menefee, Vic Mensa, Tawny Newsome, GRAMMY®-winner Ne-Yo, Ray Parker, Jr., Mario Van Peebles, Damon Wayans, Jr., Marlon Wayans and Bresha Webb.
Sherman’s Showcase Season 1 is currently available to watch on Hulu, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and XBOX. Full-length versions of the songs from the series are available via digital release and vinyl from Mad Decent, the Los Angeles-based record label founded by Thomas Wesley Pentz, better known as Diplo.
Creators and stars Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin also serve as executive producers on the series, along with John Legend, Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorious through their Get Lifted Film Co. (La La Land, Underground, Jesus Christ Superstar). Frank Scherma and Jim Bouvet of RadicalMedia (Stan Against Evil, Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes) also executive produce.
AMC Studios Content Distribution is managing worldwide sales of the show.

On the third episode, “Behind the Charade,” host Morris Day, documents the rise, fall and rise of iconic pop star, Charade, from his discovery on Sherman's Showcase through his historic 2007 comeback.

Each episode of Sherman’s Showcase is hosted by Sherman McDaniels (Salahuddin) as he takes viewers through time via music and comedy drawn from the 40-year library of a legendary (but fictional) musical variety show, drawing inspiration from Solid Gold, Soul Train and Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In. (Underground, Jesus Christ Superstar) and Frank Scherma and Jim Bouvet of RadicalMedia (Stan Against Evil, Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes).

Jack Fox as Nico Eltham

Season two of Sundance Now’s “Riviera,” continues on Thursday, August 8th. On this week’s episode, Georgina (Juila Stiles) must reveal a dark and difficult truth to the Clios family to try and protect the family empire from Nico (Jack Fox), while the ensuing chaos leads Georgina to resort to desperate measures.

“Riviera’s” highly anticipated return picks up in the immediate aftermath of the explosive first series finale, where the Clios family is faced with the tragic death of one of their own. Only this time, the blood is on the hands of our female protagonist, Georgina.
As Georgina tries to find a way to live with her crime, secrets from her past wash up on the sandy shores of the Cote d’Azur that force her to explore her turbulent childhood against her will. Following an unprecedented and unavoidable visit to her childhood home, Georgina returns with a refreshed sense of self to re-establish her power and position in the family alongside her charismatic confidant, uncle Jeff (Will Arnett).
Georgina very quickly becomes acquainted with the Eltham family, an English dynasty that sail in to the Cote d'Azur providing its shores with a dose of new money and glamour. She goes on to form relationships with the whole family, some that appear genuine from the outset and others that unravel around her as secrets, old and new, become exposed. Juliet Stevenson takes on the role of Lady Cassandra Eltham and is joined on the Riviera by her children, the impossibly stylish Daphne (Poppy Delevingne) and the brooding Nico (Jack Fox) and Daphne’s husband Raafi (Alex Lanipekun).
Elsewhere in the Riviera, the rest of the Clios family is still reeling from Constantine’s death. Christos (Dimitri Leonidas) is on the brink of losing everything, Adriana (Roxanne Duran) loses herself in a dangerous affair and Irina struggles to find her lost son, Adam.
The Riviera has never been so tempestuous. Torn between her past and her present, can Georgina navigate her way to safer waters or will she lose her place in a world that she has grown to control?
“The Walking Dead” Season 10 Preview Special airs Sunday, August 11th at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Tune-in for the special sneak peek of “The Walking Dead” ahead of the season 10 premiere on Sunday, October 6th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Catch up on season 9 of “The Walking Dead” with the full season now available on amc.com, the AMC app and On Demand through August 31,2019.

Chris Harris and Freddie Flintoff

Season 27 of “Top Gear” finales on Sunday, August 11th. On this season finale episode, Freddie Flintoff heads to Iceland to compete in the world's maddest motorsport, while Paddy McGuinness gets to grips with the new Toyota Supra and Chris Harris investigates the story of the Lotus 79, the most beautiful F1 car of all time.
The new season sees Paddy, Freddie and Chris tackling the fastest, hottest, toughest Top Gear challenges to date: pushing their cars, and themselves, to the very limits of endurance. From the brutal heat of the Ethiopian desert to the pedestrianized shopping district of downtown Mansfield in England, Top Gear is going bigger than ever before - all brought from the world-famous Top Gear test track, where a fresh batch of celebrities will demonstrate their driving prowess, or lack thereof, in the Reasonably Fast Car as well as being put through a new challenge which will be set by the presenters each week.

Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia Clark

The mid-season premiere of “Fear the Walking Dead” Season 5 airs on Sunday, August 11th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. In this week’s episode, “Channel 4,” the group, traveling in a convoy, doubles-down on their mission to help survivors. In an effort to encourage more survivors to reach out, Al, Luciana, and Charlie document Morgan and the gang on a dangerous mission to help a reclusive survivor.
In the second half of Season 5, after successfully proving their way can work, our heroes gain momentum, rescuing survivors, and spreading the message of hope along the way -- until foes both familiar and unexpected arise, forcing the group to question whether their brand of altruism can really make a difference in a world filled with death and decay.

Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer

“Preacher” season four continues on Sunday, August 11th at 10:07 p.m. ET/PT. On the third episode, “Deviant,” in her head first attempt to rescue Cassidy, Tulip may have bitten off more than she can chew, and she must reckon with the most terrifying thing she can imagine: psychiatric care. As his hopes of escape fade, Cassidy reflects on decisions he made one hundred years ago. Meanwhile, the Saint of Killers is closing in on Jesse.
“Preacher” stars Dominic Cooper, Academy Award® nominee Ruth Negga and Joseph Gilgun, along with series regulars Ian Colletti, Graham McTavish, Pip Torrens, Julie Ann Emery, Noah Taylor, Mark Harelik and Tyson Ritter. As the series inches closer to the finale, God's endgame for the universe begins to click into place. Trapped between heavenly prophecies, hellish prisons, and all-out nuclear war, Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy make their bloody way to the Most High. Whether they can reach God in time — or whether all this carnage is part of His divine plan — will soon be revealed as “Preacher” barrels towards the end of the world.
The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by executive producer and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”) and executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (“Sausage Party,” “This is the End,” “Superbad”). The series is also executive produced by James Weaver for Point Grey Pictures, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Vivian Cannon, Jason Netter, Michael Slovis, Mark McNair, Garth Ennis, Ken F. Levin and Sara Goodman.

Derek Mio as Chester Nakayama

“The Terror: Infamy” premieres on Monday, August 12th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT with an episode titled “A Sparrow in a Swallow’s Nest.” In 1941, Chester Nakayama is caught between his insular Japanese American neighborhood on Terminal Island and his current all-American life. Extreme circumstances push his community and personal life to the brink, all while someone watches closely.
“The Terror: Infamy” centers on a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese American community, and a young man's journey to understand and combat the malevolent entity responsible. In addition, the series is one of the first depicting the internment of Japanese Americans on such a massive scale – complete with authentically recreated camps in scope and scale as post-WWII.
The series stars Derek Mio, Kiki Sukezane (Lost in Space), Cristina Rodlo (Miss Bala), Shingo Usami (Unbroken), Naoko Mori (Everest), Miki Ishikawa (9-1-1) and renowned actor, producer, author and activist George Takei (Star Trek), who also serves as a consultant.
“The Terror: Infamy” is an AMC Studios production produced by Scott Free, Emaj Productions and Entertainment 360. In addition to Woo and Borenstein, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Alexandra Milchan, Scott Lambert, Guymon Casady and Jordan Sheehan also serve as executive producers.

David Pasquesi as Blaise St John, Eric Allan Kramer as Scott Wright, Brent Jennings as Ernie Fontaine and Wyatt Russell as Sean "Dud" Dudley

“Lodge 49” season two premieres on Monday, August 12th at 10:10 p.m. ET/PT. On the season premiere episode, “All Circles Vanish,” the pool shop is under new ownership. Dud recuperates from his shark attack while searching for Ernie. Ernie deals with the aftermath of his adventure with El Confidente. Liz enters the TempJoy workforce.
Season two of this modern fable set in Long Beach, CA centers on likable “Squire” and ex-surfer Sean “Dud” Dudley (Wyatt Russell), whose beloved fraternal order -- the Ancient and Benevolent Order of the Lynx -- is suffering under new rule by an ill-suited leader. Despite his “Knight” and mentor Ernie’s (Brent Jennings) lost faith, and his twin sister Liz’s (Sonya Cassidy) struggle with their past, Dud believes he is the key to restoring the Lodge to its former grandeur and putting the rightful king on the throne. In addition to Russell, Jennings and Cassidy, this season’s cast includes Linda Emond (Connie), Eric Allan Kramer (Scott) and David Pasquesi (Blaise).
Jim Gavin (Author, Middle Men) serves as creator, writer and executive-producer alongside showrunner Peter Ocko (Pushing Daisies, The Office).
