Whether trying to convince everyone that their school is haunted to get out of a test, or accidentally setting the pet iguana free in the school's air ducts, Nate and his friends cause trouble everywhere--and must keep their cool before they get caught.

"With the greenlight of this show, Nate is getting one step closer to achieving true awesomeness," said Peirce. "I am thrilled to be collaborating with Nickelodeon on new adventures for this unlikely sixth-grade hero."

The Big Nate TV series is executive produced by Mitch Watson (All Hail King Julien) and John Cohen (The Angry Birds Movie), with Peirce serving as consultant throughout development and production. Bridget McMeel is co-producer.

Peirce's humor-based books about Nate and his friends have spent more than 150 weeks on the New York Times' Best-Seller list. The Big Nate book series (https://bignatebooks.com/) is published worldwide in 33 languages and available as ebooks and audiobooks and as an app, Big Nate: Comix by U! Additionally, the Big Nate comic strip is syndicated by Andrews McMeel Syndication and appears in more than 400 newspapers and online daily at www.gocomics.com/bignate. The Big Nate comic strip books are published by Andrews McMeel Publishers and the Big Nate novels are published by HarperCollins Children's Books.

The forthcoming Big Nate series underscores a key element of Nickelodeon's content strategy, to build and expand the worlds of enormously popular franchises like Star Trek, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Henry Danger, among others, to give audiences more of what they love. Nick's new content slate is informed by the network's ongoing research and insights into today's generation of kids, who: are the most diverse generation ever and expect to see themselves authentically represented in media and in the world around them; want to make a positive difference in the world as they grow up; consider social media stars as their top role models, alongside their parents; and increasingly meet their much-desired need for family time by co-viewing entertainment content together.

The Loud House: A Very Loud Christmas! Premieres Fourth Quarter 2020
BURBANK, Calif. -- Nickelodeon is literally bringing to life the popular animated characters from its Emmy Award-winning The Loud House with the greenlight of an all-new original live-action holiday TV movie: The Loud House: A Very Loud Christmas! (working title). Casting is currently underway for the feature-length TV movie, which will begin production this summer and is set to premiere in the fourth quarter of this year.

"The holiday season calls for big event programming for the entire family, and there can be no bigger family event than Lincoln Loud and his 10 sisters literally springing to life in this first-ever live-action translation of Nickelodeon's top rated animated series," said Brian Robbins, President, Kids & Family Entertainment, ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks. "This feature-length original TV movie will spread holiday cheer for the whole family with humor, heart, hijinks and siblings... lots and lots of siblings."

In The Loud House: A Very Loud Christmas!, Lincoln is gearing up for the ultimate Christmas, until he finds out that most of his sisters have plans to be elsewhere for the big day. Determined to remind his family that they all need to be together, Lincoln and his best friend Clyde embark on a mission to sabotage their plans and preserve the family's holiday traditions.

The live-action television film is written by Liz Maccie (Siren) and executive produced by Michael Rubiner (The Loud House).

The Loud House animated series was recently greenlit for a fifth season and brand-new episodes are continuing to air on Nickelodeon. The series also won Emmy Awards for Outstanding Children's Animated Series and Outstanding Writing for an Animated Program in 2018.

The Loud House debuted May 2016 on Nickelodeon and centers on 11-year-old Lincoln Loud and his ten sisters as he gives an inside look at what it takes to survive the chaos of a huge family. In addition to the series, the property also has been translated into a comic book series, which continues to roll out new stories. The series is executive produced by Rubiner. Karen Malach serves as producer and Kyle Marshall is supervising producer.

The forthcoming The Loud House live-action TV movie underscores a key element of Nickelodeon's content strategy to build co-viewing opportunities for the whole family, and to expand the worlds of its enormously popular franchises like Henry Danger, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Blue's Clues & You!, among others, to give audiences more of what they love.

Nickelodeon Prepares for Lift-Off with "The Astronauts," First Production with Imagine Kids+Family
Single-Camera, Action-Adventure Series Set in Space to Premiere this Summer
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- Nickelodeon is setting off into new territory with the greenlight of The Astronauts (working title), a brand-new, live-action series following a group of kids who embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they are mistakenly launched into space. Marking Nickelodeon's first production with Imagine Kids+Family, The Astronauts (10 episodes) is currently in production in Vancouver, Canada, with a premiere slated for this summer.

"The Astronauts stands as one of the most ambitious and cinematic stories Nickelodeon has ever told, and we are so proud to partner with Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, and Stephanie Sperber at their Kids+Family division, on this new series," said Brian Robbins, President, Kids & Family Entertainment, ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks. "Through Imagine's ability to create fully relatable characters and put them into big, cinematic adventures, The Astronauts is well positioned to hit home with both kids and parents who want to experience this kind of great storytelling together."

"Nickelodeon has been the gold standard in kids' entertainment for a long time, and that's because they have a natural sense of how to develop talent and nurture ideas to make the best shows possible," said Ron Howard. "After talking to Brian Robbins about how Imagine's legacy in space could be brought to Nickelodeon, it was obvious that they wanted to take big creative swings with us on this series and that's incredibly exciting."

In The Astronauts, the spaceship Odyssey II is set to launch to investigate a mysterious asteroid passing by Earth. A group of kids who gathered to watch the lift-off sneak onto the empty ship with their parent's security clearance before the event, and accidentally initiate the launch sequence. Blasting off into space with no proper training, a malfunctioning onboard AI system, and their parents watching from Earth, the kids embark on a journey of survival using only their smarts and friendship as tools.

The group traveling together through space are: Samantha "Samy" Sawyer-Wei, played by Miya Cech (Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Always Be My Maybe); Elliott Combs, played by Bryce Gheisar (Wonder, A Dog's Purpose); Martin Taylor, played by Keith L. Williams (Good Boys, The Last Man on Earth); Doria Taylor, played by Kayden Grace Swan (A Black Lady Sketch Show); and Will Rivers, played by Ben Daon (Child's Play). Matilda, the ship's onboard AI system is voiced by Paige Howard (The Employer, Adventureland).

The Astronauts is executive produced by Imagine Entertainment Chairmen Brian Grazer and Ron Howard and Imagine Kids+Family President Stephanie Sperber. Executive producer Daniel Knauf (Carnivle, The Blacklist) also serves as writer and showrunner. The series is directed by DGA Award nominee Dean Israelite (Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Power Rangers movie, Project Almanac) who also serves as an executive producer, Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, The Orville), and Marcus Stokes (Criminal Minds, The Flash, 911). Will Davis serves as creative executive for Imagine Kids+Family.

Production of The Astronauts for Nickelodeon is overseen by Shauna Phelan, Senior Vice President, Scripted Content for Nickelodeon. Brian Banks serves as Nickelodeon's Executive in Charge of Production for the series.

Imagine has a rich history telling stories rooted in space adventure, including the multiple Academy Award-winning film Apollo 13 (celebrating its 25th anniversary this year), the hybrid docuseries Mars for NatGeo, and the Emmy Award-winning series From The Earth To The Moon for HBO. Imagine Kids+Family (IKF), run by President Stephanie Sperber, was launched in 2019 to develop high-quality content for kids and families with an eye toward building global franchises. Since its launch, IKF has invested in and is developing The Tiny Chef; has partnered with James Patterson's kid imprint Jimmy Books to develop several beloved children's books for film and television; has secured the rights to the Kalamata's Kitchen franchise; and has partnered with the preeminent picture magazine LIFE, to develop kids content, just to name few.

The Astronauts underscores a key element of Nickelodeon's content strategy, to create co-viewing opportunities for today's kids and parents who increasingly use TV time as family time and are looking for entertainment options holding appeal for everyone. Nick's new content slate is informed by insights into today's kids, who: are the most diverse generation ever and expect to see themselves authentically represented in media and in the world around them; want to make a positive difference in the world as they grow up; consider social media stars as their top role models, alongside their parents; and increasingly meet their much-desired need for family time by co-viewing entertainment content together.

[via press release from Nickelodeon] COMEDIAN/WRITER ADAM CONOVER TAPPED TO HOST NICKELODEON'S NEW FAMILY GAME SHOW, "THE CRYSTAL MAZE," PREMIERING FRIDAY, JAN. 24, AT 7:00 P.M. (ET/PT)

BURBANK, Calif.-Dec. 9, 2019-Comedian/writer Adam Conover is the new host of Nickelodeon's upcoming family game show, The Crystal Maze, an all-new version of the legendary UK hit series, premiering Friday, Jan. 24, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The Crystal Maze will feature Conover as the Maze Master, charged with guiding one family team through physical and mental challenges set within an elaborate labyrinth of four giant and immersive themed zones: Aztec, Eastern, Futuristic and Industrial.

Said Conover, "As the Maze Master, the only thing that gives me greater joy than tormenting our adventurers with devious games is handing out giant cash prizes to the lucky few who manage to escape the challenges inside the crystal maze. This show is the ultimate challenge for families, proving that you have to work together if you want to win, and that's a fact."

"We are delighted to welcome Adam Conover into the Nickelodeon family as our first Maze Master. His wit, warmth and pizazz are the perfect attributes to guide families through the exhilarating adventure that is The Crystal Maze," said Rob Bagshaw, Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon Unscripted Content.

The premiere episode of The Crystal Maze will feature a family from Houston, Texas, tackling a range of challenges in the maze for the first time ever for U.S. audiences. This season will feature families from: Scottsdale, Ariz; Lake Forest, Calif; Eastvale, Calif ; St. Augustine, Fla; Windemere, Fla; Chester, Va; Germantown, Tenn; Carollton, Texas; and Wheaton, Ill.

In each episode, the youngest family member takes on the role of team Captain. The successful completion of escape-room style challenges are rewarded with a "time crystal" granting the family five seconds in the centerpiece final zone called the Crystal Dome. The more crystals gathered throughout the game, the more time each family has for a dramatic clock countdown challenge inside the iconic Dome for a chance to win up to $25,000.

A current ratings smash in the UK, The Crystal Maze has been a beloved family and cult favorite since the mid '90s, with the current global popularity of the escape room phenomena reigniting interest further. The show was recently rebooted to great success with celebrity, charity and family seasons in UK, Australia and beyond.

The Crystal Maze is co-produced by Bunim/Murray Productions (The Real World, The Challenge, Born This Way) and RDF Television (Secret Life of 4 Year Olds, Wife Swap, Shipwrecked) under parent company Banijay Group. The original Blue's Clues series launched in September 1996 to critical praise from educators, parents, and preschoolers and ran for six groundbreaking seasons. Created by Traci Paige Johnson, Todd Kessler, and Angela C. Santomero, Blue's Clues drew acclaim and high ratings for its unique interactivity that helped change the way kids watch television and has remained one of the most popular preschool shows of all time. The landmark series also raised the bar in preschool television by exploring advanced subject matter such as sign language, geography, physics, emotions, and anatomy.

"I've had a blast portraying live-action suburban buccaneer and President of the SpongeBob SquarePants Fan Club, 'Patchy the Pirate,' since the character's first appearance in season two of SpongeBob SquarePants way back in 2000," said Kenny. "I loved The SpongeBob Musical, and I was thrilled to be included in it both in pre-recorded ('French Narrator') and songwriter ('Best Day Ever') forms! But to now have the opportunity to actually step onstage and perform alongside members of the original Broadway production is truly a unique honor. It's 'meta times ten,' and I think Nickelodeon's audience will really get a kick out of it!"
