The world of The Power is our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, all teenage girls in the world develop the power to electrocute people at will. It's hereditary, it's inbuilt, and it can't be taken away from them. Coming alive to the thrill of pure power: the ability to hurt or even kill by releasing electrical jolts from their fingertips, they rapidly learn they can awaken the Power in older women. Soon enough nearly every woman in the world can do it. And then everything is different. Auli'i Cravalho (Moana, The Little Mermaid Live, Rise) plays Jos Cleary-Lopez, daughter of Margot Cleary-Lopez (Leslie Mann). She's curious, judicious and observant like her mother, but the two find themselves at odds. At first she is fearful of her Power, thinking there is something very wrong with her. But this fear soon gives way to dismay when she finds herself unable to control her Power in the same way everyone else seems able to. John Leguizamo (When They See Us, John Wick, Romeo + Juliet) plays Rob, Margot's partner, a wonderful and supportive father, but he is struggling as a husband. He's always been a point of stability and support to his wife and kids, quick to make them laugh, but recently his marriage has cooled. But when the seismic changes caused by The Power impacts the unity of the family he loves, Rob is fearful for their safety but surprised by its effect on his wife and marriage. Toheeb Jimoh (French Dispatch, The Feed, Ted Lasso) plays Tunde, a young and charming Nigerian with big dreams. An aspiring video journalist, Tunde finds himself catapulted into the international spotlight when his video capturing the effects of the Power is posted to his YouTube channel and goes viral. Suddenly the world takes notice of the change that's happening, and Tunde determines to investigate the phenomenon, reporting from the heart of events as they spread across the globe. Ria Zmitrowicz (Three Girls, Mr Selfridge) plays Roxy Monke, illegitimate teenage daughter of feared London crime boss Bernie Monke. Her dad loves her, but won't let her join the family business, no matter how many times she asks. Frustrated by her lowly position in the predominately male family hierarchy, Roxy is determined to prove that she is far more capable than her brother. When she gets her Power, and as she slowly realises its new unbridled strength, she takes matters into her own hands sparking a chain of events which spiral quickly out of control. Given up by her birth parents early in her life, she's been moved from home to group home to failed adoption to yet more fostering, never spending more than a year in one place. CULVER CITY, CA - October 31, 2019 - Amazon Studios has today announced that Leslie Mann (The Other Woman, This Is 40) will star in the ten-part global thriller, The Power, based on award-winning Naomi Alderman's international best-selling novel of the same name. Mann will play the charming and ambitious politician Margot Cleary-Lopez in the series.
The Power is produced by Sister (Chernobyl, Giri/Haji, The Split) and directed by Emmy award-winner Reed Morano (The Handmaid's Tale), and will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories.

The subversive, multi-stranded narrative follows a series of characters including Allie, a vulnerable American foster kid who reinvents herself as a faith leader; Roxy, the daughter of a London crime boss, who revels in her new abilities; Tunde, a Nigerian journalist reporting on seismic global change; and Margot Cleary - Lopez (Leslie Mann), Mayor of Seattle, loving wife and doting mother to three kids. Margot is an American politician on the rise and until now, not only a woman in a man's world, but one with a questionable taste in jackets according to online trolls. Vital, charming and incredibly smart, Margot comes to see that power resides with strength rather than authority. As her career takes flight, it's her husband Rob and daughter Jos who privately feel the effects of her success most keenly; for one of them, where previously there was conflict now comes a greater understanding, and for the other where there was love, comes hurt and betrayal.

Mann will play the charming and ambitious politician Margot Cleary-Lopez in the series.
The Power is produced by Sister (Chernobyl, Giri/Haji, The Split) and directed by Emmy award-winner Reed Morano (The Handmaid's Tale), and will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories.
The Power has been adapted for screen by creator and Executive Producer Naomi Alderman, working with an incredible line-up of all-female writers including co-executive producer Claire Wilson (Rocks, Little Drummer Girl, Gangs of London), co-executive producer and story consultant Sarah Quintrell (Ellen, The Trial: A Murder in the Family), Whit Anderson (Ozark, Daredevil), Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchmen, PEN15) and novelist Rebecca Levene (The Hollow Gods Trilogy).
The world of The Power is our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, all teenage girls in the world develop the power to electrocute people at will. Coming alive to the thrill of pure power: the ability to hurt or even kill by releasing electrical jolts from their fingertips, they rapidly learn they can awaken the Power in older women. The subversive, multi-stranded narrative follows a series of characters including Allie, a vulnerable American foster kid who reinvents herself as a faith leader; Roxy, the daughter of a London crime boss, who revels in her new abilities; Tunde, a Nigerian journalist reporting on seismic global change; and Margot Cleary - Lopez (Leslie Mann), Mayor of Seattle, loving wife and doting mother to three kids. About Naomi Alderman
Naomi Alderman is an award-winning novelist, game designer and broadcaster. Her novels include Disobedience, now a motion picture by Academy Award winner Sebasti�n Lelio, and The Power, winner of the Baileys Prize 2017. She is the co-creator of the market-leading audio adventure fitness game Zombies, Run!, presents Science Stories on BBC Radio 4 and is Professor of Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. About Reed Morano
Reed Morano made history in 2018 as the first woman to win both an Emmy Award and DGA Award for a dramatic series for her work on Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale. Honored with the Kodak Vision Award for Cinematography at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in 2011, Morano made her feature film debut with the critically acclaimed MEADOWLAND, starring Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson. Her most recent feature film project, I THINK WE'RE ALONE NOW, starring Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning, won the Special Jury Prize for Excellence in Filmmaking at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, and was also awarded the prestigious Dolby Atmos grant. Morano is currently directing THE RHYTHM SECTION, a global espionage thriller starring Blake Lively and Jude Law for Paramount Pictures.
