Woodstock: Three Days That Defined A Generation
Viewers get to experience one of the most influential concerts the country has ever seen with award-
winning filmmaker Barak Goodman’s “Woodstock: Three Days That Defined A Generation,” which revisits
the 1969 Woodstock concert for its 50th Anniversary.
Street Date: August 6, 2019
Run Time: 96 Minutes on 1 disc
SRP: DVD, $24.99
Format: DVD, Digital
Genre: History: United States
In August 1969, half a million young people from all walks of life journeyed from every corner of the
country to a dairy farm in upstate New York for a concert unprecedented in scope and influence. The film
examines the tumultuous decade that led to those three historic days — years that saw the nation deeply
divided by Vietnam and racial, generational and sexual politics — through the voices of those who were
present for the event that would become the defining moment of the counterculture revolution. Focusing
on individuals that were at the concert including concert goers, security guards, performers, and local
residents, “Woodstock” expands our understanding of the event as not only an unparalleled musical
milestone, but a once-in-a-century cultural phenomena that served as a coda to the sixties and a
harbinger of the decades to come.

NOVA
The Planets
Narrated by Zachary Quinto (Star Trek), this series takes viewers on a 4.5-billion-year journey through the
incredible story of our solar system, which is brought vividly to life in stunning new detail revealed by the
latest and most daring space missions.
In five one-hour episodes, “The Planets” combines dazzling CGI imagery, the latest planetary science
research, and extraordinary footage captured by orbiters, landers, and rovers to reveal the beauty and
grandeur of each planet like never before. The series treats viewers to an unimaginable, up-close look at
awe-inspiring sights across the solar system—from haunting landscapes, to colossal weather systems, to
strange environments of fantastic scale.
Each planet has a fascinating story - from the rocky inner worlds of Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, to
the massive gas giant, Jupiter; to the mysterious, ringed Saturn; to the cold, remote ice worlds of Uranus,
Neptune, and Pluto, and even beyond. The program explores what their extreme features can tell us
about how our solar system formed, and asks if they can provide us with clues about the possibility of life
on other worlds.

Lost Viking Army
Forty years ago, a sleepy village in the heart of England was the scene of a gruesome discovery when
nearly 300 skeletons were unearthed in a mass grave. But no one has been able prove who they were -
until now. Bioarchaeologist Cat Jarman believes these bones are the last remains of the "Great Heathen
Army," a legendary Viking fighting force that invaded England in the ninth century and has long been lost
to history. Armed with the latest scientific methods, Cat’s team uncovers extraordinary human stories
from the front line, including evidence of women warriors and a lost king reunited with his son in death.
And watch as they use pioneering technology, to hunt for the army’s lost camp.

FRONTLINE
Sex Trafficking In America
“Sex Trafficking in America,” is a documentary that tells the stories of young women coerced into
prostitution - and follows one police unit that’s committed to rooting it out. In the film, award-winning
director Jezza Neumann and producer Lauren Mucciolo (Poor Kids) immerse themselves with the Phoenix
police unit that’s tackling child sexual exploitation, offering an inside look at the lucrative industry through
unique access to a series of undercover, high-stakes police operations. They also film with young women
who have escaped the trade. What’s revealed is a crime that’s both hidden in plain sight and growing -
due in part to social media, where traffickers often start to groom and recruit young women and girls.
With extensive and intimate access to local law enforcement, prosecutors, service providers and the
women themselves, the film shines a light on the hidden reality of sex trafficking in America.

AND MORE
Jamestown, Season 3
From the producers of Downton Abbey, this exciting and dramatic series follows the lives of three
courageous, dynamic women who decide to leave their dark pasts behind in England and make the
journey of a lifetime across the ocean for a new life in 17th century America. In Season 3, it’s boom time
in Jamestown but success brings the scrutiny of the Crown and there are few in the settlement who have
nothing to hide. Relations with the Native Americans offer hope and advancement for the settlers until
greed for land and want of power corrupts those with influence. What ensues is devastating conflict; the
fallout of which will shape the New World for centuries to come.
The ensemble cast includes: Naomi Battrick, Sophie Rundle, and Niamh Walsh as the leading female roles.
The male leading roles include Max Beesley, Jason Flemyng, Stuart Martin, Kalani Queypo, Abubakar
Salim, and Raoul Trujillo. The series is written and created by Bill Gallagher (Lark Rise to Candleford, The
Paradise).
State of the Art
“State of the Art” is an exhilarating journey of artistic discovery ... 100,000 miles, 1,000 destinations in the
search for 100 under-recognized American artists for one unforgettable exhibition. The curatorial team of
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas crisscrossed the nation to find
extraordinary contemporary art happening in unexpected places: the woods of North Carolina, the
deserts of Nevada, the backstreets of Pittsburgh, the foothills of Arkansas, the riverbanks of New Orleans.
The art and artists found by the team led to a groundbreaking exhibition of 227 works of contemporary
art, many of which might otherwise have never been seen. The program captures the personal stories of
seven of the diverse artists from this extraordinary exhibit who are redefining the American aesthetic.

FRONTLINE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN THE NEW DVD “DOCUMENTING HATE” FROM PBS DISTRIBUTION

FRONTLINE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN THE NEW DVD “DOCUMENTING HATE” FROM PBS DISTRIBUTION
Click Here to View the Trailer
Available on DVD and Digital February 12

Arlington, VA. – January 24, 2019 – PBS Distribution announces the DVD and digital release of “FRONTLINE: DOCUMENTING HATE,” an in-depth, two-part investigation into today’s white supremacy groups in the U.S. and the violent attacks that have taken place as a result. Divided into two parts, CHARLOTTESVILLE, and NEW AMERICAN NAZIS, the documentary focuses on how each has played a major role in reinforcing hate in America. “FRONTLINE: DOCUMENTING HATE” will be available on DVD (SRP $24.99) and digital February 12, 2019. The program has a run time of 120 minutes.

In CHARLOTTESVILLE, correspondent A.C. Thompson methodically tracks down some of those at the center of the infamous and deadly rally in Charlottesville, Virginia - - revealing that one participant in the violence was an active-duty Marine, and the other worked for a major defense contractor and held a U.S. government security clearance. This part also shows just how ill-prepared law enforcement was to handle an influx of white supremacists from across the country, some of whom had been part of a series of earlier violent confrontations in California and descended on Charlottesville specifically to fight.

The second part of the program, NEW AMERICAN NAZIS presents a new investigation into white supremacist groups in America - - in particular, a neo-Nazi group, Atomwaffen Division, that has actively recruited inside the U.S. Military. This joint investigation documents the group’s terrorist objectives, examines how civilian and military authorities have responded, and shows how the group gained strength after the 2017 Charlottesville rally. In the wake of the 2018 deadly anti-Semitic attack at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, this program documents the rise and force behind these white supremacy groups.

Other titles available from PBS Distribution include: “FRONTLINE: TRUMP TAKEOVER,” AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: OKLAHOMA CITY,” and “AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: RUBY RIDGE.”

TEN YEARS AFTER THE GREAT RECESSION “FRONTLINE: LEFT BEHIND AMERICA” GOES INSIDE ONE AMERICAN CITY’S FIGHT TO RECOVER

TEN YEARS AFTER THE GREAT RECESSION
“FRONTLINE: LEFT BEHIND AMERICA”
GOES INSIDE ONE AMERICAN CITY’S FIGHT TO RECOVER
 Available on DVD November 20
Click Here for a Preview of the Program

Arlington, Va. – October 3, 2018 – PBS Distribution announces the release of “FRONTLINE: LEFT BEHIND AMERICA” available on DVD November 20. In the decade since the Great Recession, many American cities and towns have bounced back. But for some small and mid-size cities that were once hubs for innovation and manufacturing, economic recovery has remained elusive. This documentary asks why and is an in-depth look at one such city, Dayton, Ohio, as its citizens continue to fight for economic revitalization ten years after the financial crisis.
“FRONTLINE: LEFT BEHIND AMERICA” will be available on DVD ($24.99 SRP) November 20, 2018. The program has a run time of approximately 60 minutes. The program is currently available for download from iTunes and Amazon.

Gripping and powerful, this documentary chronicles the lives and struggles of Dayton’s working poor as they chase the American dream in the new American economy. As director Shimon Dotan (The Settlers) and correspondent Alec MacGillis of ProPublica explore in the film, Dayton was once the epitome of industry and ingenuity in the American heartland — “the Silicon Valley of its age,” author Mark Bernstein tells the documentary team, a birthplace of aviation and a center of the automotive industry.

Although Dayton’s job market has recently seen a resurgence, the jobs coming back to the city aren’t the high-wage jobs that used to be there – and the poverty rate in Dayton has reached 34.5 percent, or nearly three times the poverty rate nationwide.
.
In addition to the economic downturn, the city has also been hit hard by the opioid epidemic.By early 2017, county coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger was seeing so many overdose deaths that he was worried Montgomery County, which includes Dayton, would end up leading the nation in fatal opioid overdoses per capita.

But despite the obstacles, many Dayton citizens are taking matters into their own hands — and focusing not just on surviving, but thriving.

“LEFT BEHIND AMERICA” is the intimate story of one Rust Belt city’s struggle to recover in the post-recession economy — and an up-close look at how that struggle presents a challenge to us all.
“LEFT BEHIND AMERICA” is a Middle America Productions Inc. film for WGBH/FRONTLINE in partnership with ProPublica. The producers are Paul Cadieux, Shimon Dotan, Nancy Guerin. The correspondent is Alec MacGillis. The senior producer is Frank Koughan. The executive producer of FRONTLINE is Raney Aronson-Rath.

Support for “LEFT BEHIND AMERICA” is provided by WNET through the Chasing the Dream Initiative, with major funding from The JPB Foundation and additional funding from the Ford Foundation

About Chasing the Dream
Chasing the Dream is a multi-platform public media initiative from WNET in New York on poverty and opportunity in America. It aims to provide a deeper understanding of the impact of poverty on American society: what life is like below the poverty line and for the working poor, its impact on our economic security, and what has happened to the age-old dream of striving for a better life. We also highlight solutions: what has worked – and what is working – to bring people out of poverty, and what lessons we can learn for the future.

Additional Chasing the Dream reporting can be found online and on our content partners: FRONTLINE, PBS NewsHour, NewsHour Weekend, MetroFocus, NJTV News, Long Island Business Report, Next Avenue, and public radio.
