On the Wednesday, February 5th edition of “Tamron Hall,” Tamron kicked off the show with the reveal of her March 2020 Parents Magazine cover featuring her nine-month old son, Moses. Holding back tears Tamron spoke with Parents magazine editor-in-chief Julia Edelstein on the vision of the issue and the importance to showcase “mom boss energy” and detailed the honor she feels to be featured on the cover sharing, “There are some things in your life you never expect. I never expected to be on the cover of a magazine for Parents...it is very surreal...I look at that picture and I know that was my destiny to be with that kid [Moses] and to share this story of not giving up if you want to become a parent in whatever form that is.”

Tamron was also joined by actress Tia Mowry who talked about sharing her life on social media and how she deals with mom shaming and the pressure for moms to lose baby weight saying, “I really feel that it’s a shame that people just tend to bully women, especially after they’ve brought a beautiful child into this world. Women are vulnerable after they have their baby, you're going through hormonal changes emotionally -- postpartum depression...and then you have people not being kind about the weight that you’ve gained after having a baby. I think I’m so passionate about it because I understand what bullying does to the psyche...I have no time for it!”

On how motherhood changed her and her priorities Tia shared, “It’s okay to not be perfect. It’s not easy being a mom and a working mom..I feel like motherhood has definitely changed me. Now that I have two amazing beautiful children and now that I'm a mother I just learned how to appreciate the small things and the little things in life...I think it’s very important that when you are in a union or a marriage and you have children that you keep that relationship strong. My husband and I have date nights once a week, even if it’s at home.”

Later on, Tia set the record straight on the highly anticipated reboots of “Sister Sister” and “The Game” sharing, “So many people are asking this question. We tried to do it, but some rights and stuff kind of got in the way. It makes me sad and also we even tried to reboot “The Game” and now that’s not happening. Reboots are just not in my DNA I guess!”

Tia also detailed her passion to become the ultimate #MomBoss, saying she just wants to “rule the world” and her motivation behind her supplement line and the importance of self-care saying, “Life is short. I want women to meditate on this statement that self care isn't selfish. I know a lot of women that when they have children or just women in general we tend to just focus on everybody else, but how can you be the best CEO, entrepreneur, the best mom, sister if you don't take care of yourself?

The following are highlights for Tamron Hall for the rest of the week.

On the Wednesday, January 15th edition of  “Tamron Hall,” “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss opened up about her decision to have her third child via surrogate and how she felt judged by her own family sharing,“A lot of people don't really have the information, so they don't really know. It scares you initially as soon as you find out. People automatically think it’s a vain decision. One of my family members brought up if I was going to be able to bond with her and it hurt my feelings, but overall people have to be a little more sensitive when that subject comes up. I still get a little sensitive about it.”

On her decision to become friends with her surrogate, Kandi noted, “Some people don't even meet their surrogate, but for me I was like I want to know who’s carrying my baby around. We would communicate on a regular basis and through that we became friends. That was a very selfless act that she did for us.”

Later on, Kandi talked about how she got involved with the “Real Housewives” franchise, crediting celebrity hairstylist Derek Jae for making the connection, She recalled, “I did the interview, but I didn't really think that it was going to be something that I really wanted to do. I didn't see how I would fit in with them, but I ended up doing it and here I am 11 years later.”

Kandi also discussed how she used the show to level up her platform and become a business mogul sharing, “I didn't think the show would really change my life, but after being on the show I gained all kinds of fans that had never heard of my music, so I was like okay, I’m not in it to just be popular, the popularity has to match the check and obviously the check needs to be bigger than what they’re paying me. So every year if I don't benefit off of it in another way then it’s time for me to go.”

Tamron was also joined by Rent the Runway CEO and co-founder Jennifer Hyman who shared her motivation behind starting a billion-dollar company with her sister saying, “We were going into debt, buying a lot of fashion and we thought why not be able to have access to this unlimited closet of whatever we want to wear whenever we want to wear it. We also felt like fashion was really undemocratic. It's limited by how much money you make and wealth and why can't everyone have access to the power and confidence that comes from wearing designer clothing?”

Tamron and Jennifer were later joined by Rent the Runway style director Blaire Walsh, who hosted a fashion show for the audience solving everyday women’s fashion dilemmas.

“Tamron Hall” kicked off the week with a candid one-on-one conversation with Oprah Winfrey. The “O-mazing” interview aired Monday, January 13, and focused on Oprah’s personal journey to wellness and her mission to promote health, transformation, and triumph around the country with her “Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus” tour. Continuing the inspiring week, Tamron welcomed actress, model, and activist Yara Shahidi to the Tuesday, January 14th show to tease the upcoming third season of “grown-ish” and speak about what Yara learned from her parents while growing up in Hollywood (her father, Afshin was Prince’s longtime photographer), why she hopes to be “politics adjacent” and her reaction to the lack of diversity represented in the recent Oscar nominations.

Opening up about her parent’s impact on how she approached Hollywood Shahidi shared, “I think my parents absolutely are the reason that we’re able to go through this world successfully because the first thing that they said is ‘acting is something we do, but not who we are,’ which may sound counterintuitive but it really stems from this place of ‘go explore all of your other hobbies.” My mother always says ‘there's nothing more interesting than an interested human.’  I think what my parents have done for not only myself, but both my brothers, is just do anything, and give us access to opportunities that keep us curious."

On starting “Eighteen x 18,” a platform to engage young voters at age 16, Shahidi shared that she felt powerless following the last Presidential election and, “so with the midterm elections, it was really important to be as involved as possible because I really don’t think there are young people that aren’t engaged at this point. So many of the people that I know, know why they should care about politics, it's a matter of access, of “where do I start” and it's such a convoluted process. So, getting to your original question, I always wanted to be politics adjacent.”

When asked her reaction to the recent Oscar nominations, more specifically, the lack of nominations for female directors and including only one actor of color, Shahidi said, “I think that's why the [NAACP] Image Awards matter to me. That’s why they’ve always been important, is because its known that we've been overlooked and neglected in so many spots and I think the intersections of being a woman, and being a proudly black woman and woman of color, I think there’s so many times that I look around and it's almost like ‘are we kidding at this point?’ She continued, “I think what it means is that we can no longer use their metric for success. It's why it's so important for us to be such a tight knit community and why I think the image awards and the NAACP were the first organizations to support me. It's who I credit my public speaking to.”
