Eminem Kicks Off ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’’s Return to Brooklyn With a Performance Atop New York City’s Empire State Building, Monday, Oct. 15

Oct. 12, 2018

EMINEM KICKS OFF ABC’S ‘JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!’’S RETURN TO BROOKLYN
WITH A PERFORMANCE ATOP NEW YORK CITY’S EMPIRE STATE BUILDING,
MONDAY, OCT. 15

Powered by Google Pixel 3

Eminem joins the musical guest lineup of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ when the show returns to Brooklyn, MONDAY, OCT. 15. From atop the iconic Empire State Building, the rapper will ascend 103 floors – over 1,300 feet – to give a special remote performance that will transform the New York City skyline.

Eminem’s performance of his title track from the Marvel film “Venom” will be set aglow by a first-of-its kind light show mapped to the Empire State Building using custom algorithms, created by lighting artist-in-residence Marc Brickman and his Tactical Manoeuvre Inc. team.

Much of Eminem’s performance will be captured using Google’s new Pixel 3 smartphone, allowing award-winning director James Larese to capture unique angles on the scene that wouldn’t be possible with traditional cameras. As a means to bring fans a unique introspective into how the video came to life, a behind-the-scenes video captured entirely on Pixel 3, will be released TUESDAY, OCT. 16, and available at youtube.com/JimmyKimmelLive.

“As a director, I enjoy experimenting with textures, mediums and formats, especially when working with artists like Eminem. I was blown away by the Google Pixel 3 phone – its image quality and professional finish is impressive, and I’m looking forward to giving fans something special,” said James Larese.

“The Empire State Building, the World’s Most Famous Building, and the combination of our cutting-edge lighting technology and art deco architecture create the world’s most amazing stage for this gift from Eminem, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and Google,” commented Anthony E. Malkin, CEO, Empire State Realty Trust.

“As we prepared to head back to Brooklyn for this year’s show, we knew it had to be epic. The Empire State Building is a cultural phenomenon and a huge part of New York’s history. We’re thankful to the Empire State Building, Google and Eminem for giving fans an extraordinary experience,” added Doug DeLuca, co-executive producer, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” returns to Brooklyn, New York, for five original shows starting Monday, Oct. 15. Google is the week’s premiere sponsor. In addition to the Google Pixel 3 smartphone, a variety of the brand’s products and services will be featured in several in-show integrations throughout the week starring Jimmy Kimmel, Guillermo and more.

Over the course of his career, Eminem has sold over 130 million albums and 389 million singles worldwide. He was Nielsen SoundScan’s top-selling artist of the 2000s with 32.2 million albums sold in that decade in the U.S. alone. In addition, Eminem was also named Billboard’s Artist of the Decade for the same period, 2000 through 2009. Eminem has won 13 GRAMMY® Awards and an Academy Award®. His 2010 album, “Recovery,” was the first album in the U.S. to ever go platinum digitally. His most recent album, “Kamikaze,” was released on Aug. 31, 201,8 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling 434,000 copies in its first week.

Industry pioneer, James Larese has developed and honed his love of storytelling and directing by pushing the boundaries and blurring the lines between art and commerce, and in the process amassed an array of creative disciplines and styles. He maintains a strong foothold in the ever-changing creative technologies and has been able to adapt his art across multiple formats and platforms. Larese has worked with top talents and brands from Sting, Eminem, A Tribe Called Quest, Imagine Dragons and Alicia Keys to Apple, Disney, Converse, AT&T and Doritos.

Guests for the week include Adam Sandler, John Krasinski, Cardi B, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mike Birbiglia and musical performances from St. Vincent, BeBe Rexha, Wu-Tang Clan and more. The show will tape in front of a live studio audience from the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House. This will be the fourth time that Kimmel and his show have broadcast from BAM.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format. Jimmy Kimmel and Jill Leiderman serve as executive producers. David Craig, Douglas DeLuca, Erin Irwin, Molly McNearney and Jennifer Sharron serve as co-executive producers. “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is shot live in front of a studio audience and produced by Jackhole Industries in association with ABC Studios.
