Disney Channel has ordered a third season of the Emmy® Award-nominated animated adventure comedy “Tangled: The Series,” which will premiere its second season with the new title “Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure,” SUNDAY, JUNE 24 (8:00 a.m., EDT/PDT), on Disney Channel, the DisneyNOW app and Disney Channel VOD. The series’ talented voice cast; including Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as the beloved Rapunzel and Eugene, as well as Eden Espinosa, James Monroe-Iglehart and Jeremy Jordan as fan-favorites Cassandra, Lance and Varian; are set to return. The series features music by Academy Award®-winning Disney Legend Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater.

In its debut season, Disney Channel’s “Tangled: The Series” was the #1 animated series on cable among Girls 9-14 and reached 40 million Total Viewers, including 8.3 million Kids 6-11 and 7.2 million Tweens 9-14. Season two finds Rapunzel venturing outside of the kingdom in search of where the mystical black rocks lead, after discovering she is somehow connected to them. Accompanying Rapunzel on her journey is her partner in life, Eugene; her best friend and confidante, Cassandra; her loyal chameleon sidekick, Pascal; no-nonsense and dutiful horse, Maximus; Eugene’s best friend, Lance and the Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs. Together, they’ll discover new people and places and embark on an incredible new adventure far beyond Corona’s walls.

The guest voice cast for season two includes Emmy Award winner and Academy Award nominee Carol Kane (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) as the mystical traveler Madame Canardist; Lil Rel Howery (“Get Out”) as a fast-talking host named Goodberry; Yvonne Strahovski (“Chuck”) as Eugene’s old love interest Stalyan; Bruce Campbell (“Cars 2”) as the bizarrely charming King Edmund; Britt Robertson (ABC’s “For the People”) as the whip-smart no nonsense teenager Vex; Timothy Dalton (“License to Kill”) as inventor and adventurer Demanitus; Katy Mixon (ABC’s “American Housewife”) as the stunningly beautiful Seraphina; and Kathy Najimy (“Hocus Pocus”) as a sprightly and strange resident of the magical forest.

Brand extensions for the series include toys, role-play products and more from Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products. New products, including a brand-new line of back-to-school items, will be available at Disney Stores beginning June 11.

Produced by Disney Television Animation, “Tangled: The Series” was developed by animation veterans Chris Sonnenburg and Shane Prigmore. Sonnenburg serves as executive producer and supervising director; Benjamin Balistreri is co-executive producer; Jase Ricci is story editor and co-producer; and Alan Bodner is art director. Celebrated artist Claire Keane, who painted Rapunzel’s tower murals in the feature film, is the series’ visual development artist. Emmy Award-winning Kevin Kliesch serves as score composer.

Early Second Season Greenlight Ordered for 'Tangled: The Series' Ahead of Its Highly Anticipated Disney Channel Debut

Early Second Season Greenlight Ordered for 'Tangled: The Series' Ahead of Its Highly Anticipated Disney Channel Debut

EARLY SECOND SEASON GREENLIGHT ORDERED FOR ‘TANGLED: THE SERIES‘ AHEAD OF ITS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DISNEY CHANNEL DEBUT
— Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media to Debut New Extensions
at Toy Fair this Week —

Disney Channel has made a resolute and early commitment to a second season before the first season of the animated "Tangled: The Series" premieres, with Chris Sonnenburg as executive producer and supervising director. A production of Disney Television Animation, the series is based on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ acclaimed feature film. It will be preceded by the music-filled "Tangled Before Ever After," a Disney Channel Original Movie, premiering FRIDAY, MARCH 10 (8:00-9:05 p.m. EST), with the series launching FRIDAY, MARCH 24 (7:30-8:00 p.m., EDT), on Disney Channel. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide.

"Tangled: The Series" reunites Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, who reprise their roles as Rapunzel and Eugene (formerly known as Flynn Rider), respectively, as well as the music team of Disney legend and Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. The story takes place between the events of the 2010 feature film and the start of the 2012 short film, "Tangled Ever After." With a visually vibrant animation style, the series follows Rapunzel on her adventures as she acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom of Corona and its people.

Marsh said, "’Tangled’ is my all-time favorite Disney animated film! And with the blessing of the filmmakers, executive producer Chris Sonnenburg has crafted a terrific new series that embraces the rich characters, the brilliant storytelling and the memorable music of the original. Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi have effortlessly reprised their roles as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, and the legendary songwriters Alan Menken and Glenn Slater have graced the series with a host of memorable songs. This promises to be an absolute treat for kids and families around the world."

A line of role-play products, dolls and playsets inspired by "Tangled: The Series" will debut at New York Toy Fair this Saturday, February 18, and will be available later this fall, including new apparel and accessories. Disney Publishing will debut print and e-book titles including an original middle grade series by Leila Howland. Walt Disney Records recently released the single "Wind in My Hair" performed by Mandy Moore and will debut "Life After Happily Ever After," performed by Moore, Zachary Levi and Clancy Brown, on March 10. A DVD of the TV movie "Tangled Before Ever After" and four animated shorts will be released by Walt Disney Studios on April 11.

"Tangled: The Series" was developed by Chris Sonnenburg and Shane Prigmore, with Sonnenburg serving as executive producer and supervising director. Benjamin Balistreri is supervising producer. Kevin Kliesch serves as score composer. The series is produced by Disney Television Animation.

After all those years stuck in a tower, everyone's favorite "barefoot princess" (Mandy Moore) yearns to make up for lost time. With the help of her true love Eugene (Zachary Levi), pals Pascal and Maximus and daring new friend Cassandra, Rapunzel postpones her wedding and royal duties to defy danger and boldly explore life beyond Corona's walls. Sparkling with fun, adventure and music from the legendary Alan Menken, Tangled: Before Ever After is a magical movie!
In 2010, Disney released the CGI-animated theatrical film Tangled, following it up in 2012 with a CGI-animated short centered around Rapunzel's marriage: Tangled Ever After. Now the studio is preparing to spin all of this off into a traditionally-animated TV cartoon show, Tangled: The Series, which debuts on the Disney Channel in March. The show launches with "Tangled: Before Ever After," a Disney Channel Original Movie.

Mandy Moore (This Is Us) returns as "Rapunzel," Zachary Levi (Chuck) returns as "Flynn Rider," and M.C. Gainey (Lost) returns as the Captain of the Guard. You'll also hear the voices of Julie Bowen, Clancy Brown, Jeffrey Tambor, Richard Kind, Peter MacNicol, Sean Hayes, Ashley Judd, and Breaking Bad's Jonathan Banks.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that on April 4th, they will release a single-disc DVD of Tangled: The Series - Vol. 1: Before Ever After. Priced at $19.99 SRP, it will include inside the package a free bonus "Rapunzel's Journal" (for the title's first printing; additional printings later on may not include that item). Amazon has a listing for the title, but isn't accepting pre-orders just yet. Here's the cover art:

KINGDOM OF CORONA — Set between the stories told in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ acclaimed film “Tangled” and its short film “Tangled Ever After,” the Disney Channel Original Movie “Tangled Before Ever After” makes its debut on FRIDAY, MARCH 10 (8:00 p.m. EST) leading to the highly anticipated premiere of “Tangled: The Series” on FRIDAY, MARCH 24 (7:30 p.m. EDT). Reprising their roles are Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as Rapunzel and Eugene (formerly known as Flynn Rider), respectively.

The visually vibrant animated adventure/comedy movie and series unfold as Rapunzel acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom and the people of Corona. Her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity lead her to realize that there is so much more she needs to learn about the world and herself before she can assume her role as Princess of Corona. Beloved characters from the feature film accompany Rapunzel on her journey, including her partner in life Eugene; her loyal chameleon sidekick, Pascal; no-nonsense and dutiful horse, Maximus; and the Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs. The series introduces newcomer Cassandra (voiced by Broadway’s Eden Espinosa), a tough-as-nails lady-in-waiting, who becomes Rapunzel’s good friend and confidante.

In the Disney Channel Original Movie, Rapunzel grapples with both the new responsibilities of being princess and the overprotective ways of her father. While she wholeheartedly loves Eugene, Rapunzel does not share his immediate desire to get married and settle down within the castle walls. Determined to live life on her own terms, she and Cassandra embark on a secret adventure where they encounter mystical rocks that magically cause Rapunzel’s long blonde hair to grow back. Impossible to break and difficult to hide, Rapunzel must learn to embrace her hair and all that it represents.

“Tangled Before Ever After” will be available on the Disney Channel app and Disney Channel VOD platforms beginning Friday, March 10. “Tangled: The Series” will be available beginning Friday, March 24. Following its U.S. debut, the Disney Channel Original Movie and series will roll out globally in 33 languages in 162 countries on Disney Channels worldwide.

Extensions of the story span new “Tangled” print and e-book titles including an original middle grade series by Leila Howland, inspired by the series from Disney Publishing; Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media will debut new playsets, dolls, role-play, apparel and accessories later this fall at Disney Store and all other retailers; the singles “Wind in My Hair” performed by Mandy Moore and “Life After Happily Ever After” performed by Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Clancy Brown, releasing on February 10 and March 10, respectively, from Walt Disney Records; and a DVD of the TV movie and four animated shorts releasing April 11 by Disney Studios.

Starring alongside Moore, Levi and Espinosa are Julie Bowen (“Modern Family”) as Rapunzel’s mother, Queen Arianna, and Clancy Brown (“Shawshank Redemption”) as Rapunzel’s father, King Frederic.

The recurring guest voice cast includes Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent”) as Snuggly Duckling Pub Thug, Big Nose; Sean Hayes (“Will and Grace”) as Pete the Guard; Jeremy Jordan (“Supergirl”) as teen alchemist Varian; comedian Jeff Ross as Pub Thug, Hook Hand’s brother Hook Foot; Richard Kind (“Spin City”) as Uncle Monty; Paul F. Tompkins (“Comedy Bang! Produced by Disney Television Animation, “Tangled: The Series” was developed by animation veterans Chris Sonnenburg (Disney’s “Enchanted”) and Shane Prigmore (“The Lego Movie”). Sonnenburg serves as executive producer and supervising director; Benjamin Balistreri (“How to Train Your Dragon”) is supervising producer; Jase Ricci (Disney XD’s “Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”) is story editor; and Alan Bodner (“The Iron Giant”) is art director. Celebrated artist Claire Keane (“Frozen,” “Tangled”), who painted Rapunzel’s tower murals in the feature film, is the series’ visual development artist.
