AMC NETWORKS’ TARGETED SVOD SERVICES PASS 2 MILLION TOTAL SUBSCRIBERS

AMC NETWORKS’ TARGETED SVOD SERVICES PASS 2 MILLION TOTAL SUBSCRIBERS

Acorn TV, Shudder, Sundance Now, and UMC continue to stand out in the special interest SVOD market and hit new milestone for the company
New York, NY (December 10, 2019) – AMC Networks (NASDAQ: AMCX) today announced that its four targeted subscription video on demand services – Acorn TV, Shudder, Sundance Now, and UMC (Urban Movie Channel) – now exceed two million subscribers, marking a major new milestone and achieving a year-end target for the company.
AMC Networks’ targeted SVOD services offer curated content destinations that provide unique viewership experiences for distinct audiences. They include: Acorn TV, specializing in world-class mysteries and drama from Britain and beyond; Shudder, super serving fans of horror and suspense; Sundance Now, featuring mysteries, dramas and true crime; and UMC, the first streaming destination dedicated to black audiences.
“AMC Networks continues to lead in the targeted SVOD category. We are building loyal and engaged fan communities around our growing services and our momentum affirms our strategy of super serving distinct premium audiences,” said Josh Sapan, AMC Networks President and CEO. “From a financial perspective, our offerings are efficient and attractive, with a large addressable market. We spend much less on programming and marketing than the general entertainment streaming services, and we are able to achieve scale at much lower subscriber levels. As a result, our subscribers have very attractive long-term values.”
Sapan added: “As the market for this category evolves, consumers are increasingly complementing their general entertainment subscriptions with our services, which are becoming ‘must-have’ destinations for each of our target audiences.”
AMC Networks’ premium SVOD services are consistently recognized as being among the best streaming offerings for consumers by leading critics and publications. Recent accolades include The New York Times naming Acorn TV’s Manhunt, and Sundance Now’s Emmy-winning State of the Union and Unspeakable, as among the Best International Shows of 2019; and New York magazine naming Shudder’s One Cut of the Dead as a Best Movie of 2019. Shudder’s original series Creepshow, which premiered in September, set records for viewership, subscriber acquisition and total minutes streamed and has been renewed for a second season. UMC continues to stand out with a broad mix of original series, classic sitcoms, and feature films, including Daytime Emmy-nominated series Bronx SIU and the LisaRaye McCoy- and Duane Martin-led classic UPN sitcom All of Us.

WE tv AND UMC (URBAN MOVIE CHANNEL) GREENLIGHT SECOND SEASON OF EXCLUSIVE MARRIAGE BOOT CAMP: HIP HOP EDITION “CONFESSIONAL” EPISODES

WE tv AND UMC (URBAN MOVIE CHANNEL) GREENLIGHT SECOND SEASON OF EXCLUSIVE MARRIAGE BOOT CAMP: HIP HOP EDITION “CONFESSIONAL” EPISODES Content Partnership Between AMC Networks’ WE tv Television Network and UMC Streaming Service Has Boosted UMC Streaming Subscribers, Driven New Viewers to WE tv Originals

NEW YORK, NY, September 23, 2019 – AMC Networks’ WE tv today announced the continuation of a successful content partnership with sister company UMC (Urban Movie Channel) – the first subscription streaming service for Black TV and film – to produce a second season of “confessional” episodes of the WE tv hit series Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition, which are exclusively available to UMC subscribers and complement the underlying series.
The availability of these exclusive “confessional” episodes with Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition cast and limited promotional access to the series itself has helped drive strong subscriber growth at UMC. The content partnership has also benefitted WE tv by raising awareness of the network and its strong line-up of original programming with the UMC subscriber base. WE tv is typically the #1 cable network for African-American adults and women on Thursday nights, when the network airs franchise hits like Braxton Family Values, Growing Up Hip Hop and other original series.
UMC, which AMC Networks acquired as part of its acquisition of RLJ Entertainment last year, has also featured the WE tv series Growing Up Hip Hop and Braxton Family Values, and WE tv is currently airing the UMC series Beyond The Pole on its linear network.
Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition has been a significant hit for WE tv, and an important addition to the Marriage Boot Camp franchise,” said Marc Juris, WE tv president. “It also presented the perfect opportunity to partner with our sister company UMC and produce ‘confessional’ cast episodes that are exclusive to UMC, helping to boost interest in the series overall and helping to drive strong subscriber gains for UMC’s streaming service. This is another good example of our company using content in a variety of ways to strengthen our distinct platforms and build viewer relationships.”
The second season of Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition will appear on WE tv early next year.

SILVER SPRING, Md.July 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Following the announcement of its original series, “A House Divided,” UMC (www.UMC.tv) – the first and leading streaming service for Black film and television from AMC Networks’ RLJ Entertainment – announced today a new original romantic comedy series from writer/director Patricia Cuffie-Jonescalled “Stuck With You.” The new series will star Tammy Townsend (“Love Is_,” “K.C. Undercover”) and Timon Kyle Durett(“Queen Sugar,” “Single Ladies”) as Candace and Luvell, an unhappily married celebrity couple that struggles with being the face of #relationshipgoals in the spotlight, while living two separate lives behind closed doors.
At first glance, Candace and Luvell seemed like the perfect storybook couple. The marriage of the former R&B princess and Hollywood’s leading man was envied by all, especially after the release of their hit tell-all relationship book, “CandyLuv.” But while their careers were being catapulted to new heights overnight, their model marriage was falling apart. Ultimately, they agree that the best way to protect their brand and status as the “it” couple is to hold off on a divorce and live separate lives… while under one roof. AJ Johnson (Baby Boy), Jessica Obilom (Trafficked), Terrence Green (“Step Up: High Water”), Tiffany Black (When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story), former Danity Kane member D. Woods, and R&B singer, Shanice will also star in the new series.

“I’m honored to have ‘Stuck With You’ as part of the UMC family,” said show creator, Patricia Cuffie-Jones. “I’m excited to have another project on their growing platform of content that is created for us, by us, and starring us. It’s always been my goal to tell relatable and universal love stories through the eyes of complex African-American characters, and I’m just grateful for this opportunity to catapult this project to the next level and share more of my work with their audience. Tammy and Timon are a force together. Literally TNT! I can’t wait for viewers to be captivated by this complex couple entangled in this unique love story.”
“With several projects already on UMC, Patricia’s storytelling has proven to resonate with both loyal viewers and UMC’s growing subscriber base,” said Brett Dismuke, Chief Content Officer of UMC. “As we continue our focus on developing more original content that speaks to African American and urban audiences nationwide, we are excited to build relationships with seasoned content creators and storytellers that deliver exceptionally compelling programming.
