Rick Ross, Lil Yachty, D.R.A.M., Starley & More Light Up the MTV Woodies Stage in Austin!
(AUSTIN, TEXAS) March 16, 2017 – Hosted by Rick Ross and featuring an appearance from Grammy award-winning duo The Chainsmokers, who picked up “Woodie of the Year,” the raucous “2017 MTV Woodies” aired live on MTV at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on March 16. In the spirit of music discovery that drives SXSW, the “2017 MTV Woodies” featured more music and a focus on emerging artists, their fans, and the established artists who cosign them.
Rick Ross, Wale, Desiigner, D.R.A.M., Lil Yachty, Jidenna, Khalid and Starley graced the main show stage along with presenters A$AP Ferg, Young M.A and Bibi Bourelly. Prior to the one-hour LIVE show, Terrence J hosted MTV’s emerging artist “Woodies” Music Festival with performances by D.R.A.M., Lil Yachty, Young M.A, Bibi Bourelly, MUNA and PVRIS. Ed Sheeran picked up “Cover Woodie” for Touch, “Woodie to Watch” was given to Woodies festival performer Khalid, and “Songwriter of the Year” went to PARTYNEXTDOOR.
