NEW LAUNCH AHEAD FOR AMC IN CROATIA
Landmark Agreement with Vipnet Coincides with Exclusive Season Two Premiere of Critically-Acclaimed Drama “Preacher”
The new deal will see AMC launching for the first time within a basic cable package for Vipnet TV subscribers in Croatia. This new launch, part of AMC’s continued expansion in the Adriatic region, follows last year’s agreements with United Group to bring AMC to new subscribers across Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia. Home to original drama series “Fear the Walking Dead,” “Preacher,” “Into the Badlands,” “HUMANS,” “Better Call Saul,” “Breaking Bad” and the upcoming “The Terror,” AMC is seen widely on pay-TV platforms across the Adriatic / Balkan region.
Commenting on the new agreement, SVP of AMC Networks International – Central & Northern Europe, Levente B. Málnay said: “We have a clear focus on the Adriatic region where Vipnet, a member of the Telekom Austria Group, is a key partner. We are delighted to bring AMC’s distinctive original programming, including the upcoming season two debut of ‘Preacher’ and world premiere episodes of the new season of ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ to Vipnet subscribers later this year. This new launch highlights the growing demand for AMC in the region, and we will continue our mission to bring premium original drama series to viewers at the same time or within days of the US premieres.”
AMC will launch in Croatia with the exclusive premiere of season two of “Preacher” on 29th June, just four days after the US premiere. The expanded second season is a genre-bending thrill ride that follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award® nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God and are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.
Vipnet subscribers will also see the world premiere episodes of season three of “Fear the Walking Dead” every Monday at 22:00. The companion series to “The Walking Dead,” the #1 show on television among adults 18-49 for the last five years, “Fear the Walking Dead” explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the eyes of a fractured family. The series is executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and showrunner Dave Erickson and produced by AMC Studios.
“We are always looking to enhance content offering across the entire Telekom Austria Group footprint. Adding AMC’s original shows is in line with our priority to provide Vipnet’s customers with the most compelling content and to continue providing a first-rate pay TV experience,” said Nikola Francetić, head of Telekom Austria Group Media, Content and Broadcasting.
The new agreement with Vipnet in the Adriatic region further strengthens AMC’s footprint in the Eastern and Central European markets. AMC first launched outside North America in late 2014 and is now available on subscription television platforms in more than 125 countries and territories across Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
