Survivor - Now Out: Blu-rays For 'Season 27: Blood vs Water' and 'Season 28: Cagayan' No date yet on the DVD versions, but the MOD Blu-rays (BD-Rs) are now available

SURVIVOR: BLOOD vs WATER - Taking the game to a whole new level, ten returning castaways play with - and against - their loved ones. Facing this unprecedented twist is a cast that includes "Big Brother" winner Hayden Moss, the first houseguest turned castaway and his girlfriend Kat Edorsson ("Survivor: One World"), former NFL player husband Brad Culpepper and his wife Monica ("Survivor: One World"); original season one castaway, Gervase Peterson; and one of the all-time most popular castaways, Rupert Boneham ("Survivor: Pearl Islands"). Then, former NBA player Cliff Robinson and president of the Miami Marlins David Samson are among the 18 new contestants who are split into three tribes based on their primary attributes: Aparri (Brawn), Luzon (Brains) and Solana (Beauty), each named for a municipality on the Filipino island in which the season was filmed. Audiences quickly learn that "not only does being 'book smart' not matter in the jungle, but having looks and being buff actually do help" (HollywoodLife.com). "SURVIVOR: CAGAYAN" introduced the grueling Draggin' the Dragon challenge, as well as the return of the hidden immunity idol element, albeit with a new caveat: it is to be used after the votes have been read and can be only used by its finder. It's been more than a year since we've begun waiting for Blu-ray releases of the 27th and 28th seasons of this show (and the 26th and 29th, too!...see?). And it's been a year-and-a-half since we first reported that DVD versions were in-the-works for the 26th, 27th, and 28th season sets. The 26th season was finally released on DVD last Friday, but we're still waiting on DVD versions of the 27th and 28th seasons. But now CBS DVD has put out, through Amazon's CreateSpace MOD (manufacture on demand) program, high-def Blu-ray (BD-R) sets for both Survivor - Season 27: Blood vs Water and Survivor - Season 28: Cagayan (the latter sometimes being referred to as the "Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty" season, due to the themed names of the three teams). Both became available today, November 1st. Each one is a 4-disc set priced at $39.99 SRP per title. No word on when other releases of these titles in DVD format will be available, nor on when we'll get the other as-yet-unreleased DVDs and Blu-rays for other seasons. Stay tuned for updates!
