On Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” ranked as the No. 1 late-night talk show among Adults 18-49 (0.7/4) in the 25 LPM Markets, dominating CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” (0.5/3) and NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (0.5/3) by 40% each. In addition, ABC’s “Kimmel” beat NBC’s “Fallon” by 33% in Households (2.4/6 vs. 1.8/5) in the 56 Metered Markets to rank No. 2 for the night.
  • “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” tied its highest-rated telecast on any night in late-night in more than 7 months among Adults 18-49 – since Monday, 6/12/17. In addition, “Kimmel” improved by 40% over the week-ago night (0.7/4 vs. 0.5/3) to equal its top-rated Tuesday telecast since June 2015 – since 6/16/15.

During the week of Jan. 22, 2018, ABC earned 2nd place in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4) to CBS with the “Grammy Awards” on Sunday, beating NBC by 22% (0.9/3) and Fox by 38% (0.8/3). The Net also took 2nd place for the week with Total Viewers (4.6 million).
  • ABC delivered a network-leading 7 of the Top 20 TV programs in Adults 18-49, including the No. 1 freshman series with “The Good Doctor”:  “Grey’s Anatomy” – No. 3, “The Bachelor” – No. 4, “The Good Doctor” and “The Goldbergs” tied at No. 7, “NBA Saturday Prime on ABC” – No. 12, “American Housewife-1/24” – No. 15 and “Scandal” – No. 16.
 
  • Monday
With rising numbers for “The Bachelor” and “The Good Doctor,” ABC dominated Monday night over runner-up CBS by 1.5 million viewers (7.5 million vs. 6.0 million) and by 64% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.1/4). In fact, it was ABC’s 4th straight week as Monday’s No. 1 broadcaster with young adults. The Net spiked 20% to a new Monday season high in Adults 18-49.
  • Airing the top series on the night, ABC’s “The Good Doctor” was Monday’s most watched TV show overall (9.3 million) and “The Bachelor” was the night’s No. 1 series in Adults 18-49(1.8/6). 

“The Bachelor” (8:00-10:01 p.m. – 6.6 million and 1.8/6 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-10:01 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelor” won its 2-hour slot over CBS original comedies by 5% in Total Viewers (6.6 million vs. 6.3 million) and by 50% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.2/4). “The Bachelor” jumped week to week by 1.0 million viewers (6.5 million vs. 5.6 million) and by 29% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.4/5) to deliver new season highs.
“The Good Doctor” (10:01-11:00 p.m. – 9.3 million and 1.7/6 in AD18-49):
In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s “The Good Doctor” (1.7/6) beat its combined drama competition on CBS (“Scorpion” = 0.9/3) and NBC (“The Brave” = 0.7/3) by 6% in Adults 18-49. In addition, the ABC freshman drama outdrew CBS’ runner-up “Scorpion” by 3.7 million viewers in the hour (9.3 million vs. 5.6 million).
  • “The Good Doctor” added 1.0 million viewers (9.3 million vs. 8.3 million) week to week and built 6% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 vs. 1.6/6), drawing its biggest audience and tying its top young adult rating in 2 months– since 11/20/17.

Wednesday
Although “Modern Family” aired a repeat in the middle of its comedy block, ABC tied CBS’ all-original lineup for No. 2 on Wednesday night in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4-tie) and paced just 2-tenths out of tying Fox for No. 1 (“The X-Files”/”9-1-1” = 1.3/5).   
“The Goldbergs” (8:00-8:30 p.m. – 6.1 million and 1.7/7 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Goldbergs” won its half-hour by 31% in Adults 18-49 over runner-up CBS’ “The Amazing Race” (1.7/7 vs. 1.3/5) to stand as Wednesday’s No. 1 TV show for the first time this season, topping Fox’s “9-1-1” at 9:00 p.m. (1.6/6). “The Goldbergs” held even with the prior week’s best-since-premiere young adult rating – since 9/27/17.
“American Housewife-1/24-SP” (8:30-9:00 p.m. – 5.3 million and 1.4/5 in AD18-49):
At 8:30 p.m., ABC’s special airing in the half-hour of “American Housewife” ranked No. 1 with Adults 18-49(1.4/5). The ABC comedy marked a best-since-premiere number in Total Viewers (5.3 million) and its highest rating since October with Adults 18-49 – since 9/27/17 and 10/18/17, respectively. In addition, “American Housewife” drew ABC’s biggest series audience to the time slot this season and equaled a season best with young adults.
Thursday
Holding exactly even with last week’s strong return for its TGIT lineup after a 2-month hiatus, ABC emerged as Thursday’s No. 1 network in Total Viewers (5.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.5/6). The Net won Thursday night by 25% in Live + Same Day Adults 18-49 and its demographic lead will become even more pronounced once delayed viewing is counted
 
  • At 8:00 p.m., ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” dominated its hour and stood as Thursday’s No. 1 TV showin Total Viewers (8.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.3/9). “Grey’s” was up for its 2nd straight airing in Total Viewers (+4% – 8.6 million vs. 8.3 million) and held even with the prior week  in Adults 18-49 (2.3/9) to deliver its best results in exactly 1 year– since 1/26/17.
  • At 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “Scandal” ranked No. 1 in its hour with young adults (tie) and remained even with last week’s return in Total Viewers (5.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.3/5) to match best-since-premiere results – since 10/5/17. 

  • In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” held even with the prior week among Adults 18-49 (1.0/4) at a best-since-premiere number – since 9/28/17. 
Saturday
With NBA coverage, ABC won Saturday night for the 2nd week in a row, more than doubling Fox with “UFC Fight Night” in Total Viewers (+133% – 4.2 million vs. 1.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (+117% – 1.3/6 vs. 0.6/3).
  • Featuring the Boston Celtics at the Golden State Warriors in its second night of the season, “NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC” ranked as the evening’s No. 1 program in Total Viewers (4.7 million) and for the 2nd consecutive week with Adults 18-49 (1.5/6).

  • Growing over its week-ago season opener in Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+7%), “NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC” scored its strongest numbers since last February – since 2/11/17.

ABC’s “The View” averaged 2.943 million Total Viewers, 470,000 Women 25-54 and 340,000 Women 18-49, during the week of Jan. 22, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” led CBS’ “The Talk” (2.534 million, 403,000 and 280,000, respectively) during the week in Total Viewers (+409,000), Women 25-54 (+67,000) and Women 18-49 (+60,000).
“The View” increased its lead over “The Talk” compared to the same week last year in Total Viewers (+15% – 409,000 vs. 357,000) and Women 18-49 (+13% – 60,000 vs. 53,000).
“The View” widened its Total Viewer advantage over “The Talk” from the previous week by 7% (409,000 vs. 381,000).
Season to date, “The View” is posting gains compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+1% – 2.943 million vs. 2.926 million), marking its most watched season in 3 years – since the 2014-15 season. 
In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” across the board, increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (329,000 vs. 176,000), Women 25-54 (109,000 vs. 53,000) and Women 18-49 (69,000 vs. 66,000). In fact, “The View” is posting its largest season leads over the CBS program in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 years – since the 2012-13 season.

  • ABC’s “The Bachelor” once again stood as Monday’s No. 1 TV program in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6), finishing as the night’s top series for the 3rd week in a row.

From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelor” won its 2-hour slot over CBS’ original comedies in Total Viewers (+3% – 6.3 million vs. 6.1 million) and led by a definitive 70% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 vs. 1.0/4). “The Bachelor” held steady in Adults 18-49, coming within 1-tenth of its season high set the prior two weeks.

“The Good Doctor” (10:00-11:00 p.m. – 5.0 million and 0.8/3 in AD18-49):
In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s repeat “The Good Doctor” beat NBC’s finale of “The Brave” by 1.1 million viewers (5.0 million vs. 3.9 million) and by 14% in Adults 18-49 (0.8/3 vs. 0.7/3).

ABC’s ‘The Chew’ Boasts Double-Digit Gains Over CBS’ ‘The Talk’

During the week of Jan. 15, 2018, ABC’s “The Chew” grew week to week by 6% among Women 18-49 (368,000/0.6 rating vs. 347,000/0.5 rating) to a 10-month high– since the week of 3/13/17. In addition, “The Chew” grew to its 2nd largest audience of the season (+1% – 2.691 million vs. 2.667 million), behind only New Year’s week (w/o 1/1/18).

For the 3rd week in a row, “The Chew” grew its overall audience over the same week last year (+2% – 2.691 million vs. 2.651 million).

On the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday (1/15/18), “The Chew” posted its strongest single telecast on any day of the season in Women 18-49 (415,000/0.6 rating).

Posting double-digit advantages, “The Chew” outdelivered CBS’ “The Talk” for the 32nd straight week among Women 18-49 (+18% – 368,000/0.6 rating vs. 312,000/0.5 rating) and for the 24th week in a row with Women 25-54 (+16% – 497,000/0.8 rating vs. 427,000/0.7 rating).

ABC’s “The View” averaged 3.179 million Total Viewers, 535,000 Women 25-54 and 383,000 Women 18-49, during the week of January 15, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” beat CBS’ “The Talk” (2.798 million, 427,000 and 312,000, respectively) during the week in Total Viewers (+381,000), Women 25-54 (+108,000) and Women 18-49 (+71,000).

“The View” was up over the previous week to hit a season high in Women 18-49 (+2% – 383,000 vs. 376,000).

For the 3rd straight week, “The View” improved year to year in Total Viewers (+1% – 3.179 million vs. 3.136 million).

On Wednesday (1/17/18), with guest co-host Alicia Menendez, “The View” saw its most watched telecast (3.490 million) in nearly 3 years – since 2/09/15, based on full-length telecasts.

Season to date, “The View” is posting gains compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+1% – 2.938 million vs. 2.910 million), marking its most watched season in 3 years – since the 2014-15 season. 

In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” across the board, increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (321,000 vs. 166,000), Women 25-54 (110,000 vs. 51,000) and Women 18-49 (69,000 vs. 66,000). In fact, “The View” is posting its largest season leads over the CBS program in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 years – since the 2012-13 season.

ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 1.414 million Total Viewers, 537,000 Adults 25-54 and 412,000 Adults 18-49, during the week of January 15, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (1.357 million, 481,000 and 366,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+57,000), Adults 25-54 (+56,000) and Adults 18-49 (+46,000).

“Nightline” narrowed its year-to-year gap with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Adults 18-49 (-11% – 75,000 vs. 84,000).

Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Adults 25-54 (+11,000 – 527,000 vs. 516,000) and Adults 18-49 (+11,000 – 399,000 vs. 388,000).

Stories on “Nightline” last week included an examination of the lives of David Turpin and his wife, Louise Anna Turpin, who were arrested on charges of torture and child endangerment; a firsthand account from survivors and first responders on the deadly mudslides that overwhelmed people in Montecito, California; a conversation with parents about the struggle of having “the talk” with their kids and what it means to be black in the U.S.; a trip to the Cincinnati Zoo to meet Fiona the hippo whose journey to health has made her a social media star; interviews with author Angela Nagle who spent more than a year exploring the online origins of the current so-called alt-right movement; and 13-year-old Brighton Zeuner, the youngest gold medalist in X Games history.

Week No. 17
ABC earned 2nd place during the week in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 – w/o 1/15/18) to Fox with coverage of the NFC Championship on Sunday, while beating NFL-free schedules on CBS and NBC by 20% each (tied at 1.0/4). Excluding sports, ABC won the week by 9% over runner-up Fox in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 1.1/4). ABC delivered a network-leading 7 of the Top 20 TV programs in Adults 18-49:  “Grey’s Anatomy” – No. 7, “The Bachelor” and “Modern Family” tied at No. 10, “The Good Doctor” and “The Goldbergs” tied at No. 13, while “The Middle” and “NBA Saturday Primetime” tied at No. 18.
  • Growing week to week by 9% in Total Viewers (4.7 million vs. 4.3 million) and by 20% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 1.0/4), ABC drew its biggest weekly audience and equaled its top young adult number since November – since w/o 11/27/17 and w/o 11/13/17, respectively.     
 
  • Monday
With rising numbers for “The Bachelor” and “The Good Doctor,” ABC dominated Monday night over runner-up CBS by 1.5 million viewers (7.5 million vs. 6.0 million) and by 64% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.1/4). In fact, it was ABC’s 4th straight week as Monday’s No. 1 broadcaster with young adults. The Net spiked 20% to a new Monday season high in Adults 18-49.
  • Airing the top series on the night, ABC’s “The Good Doctor” was Monday’s most watched TV show overall (9.3 million) and “The Bachelor” was the night’s No. 1 series in Adults 18-49(1.8/6). 

“The Bachelor” (8:00-10:01 p.m. – 6.6 million and 1.8/6 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelor” won its 2-hour slot over CBS original comedies by 5% in Total Viewers (6.6 million vs. 6.3 million) and by 50% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.2/4). “The Bachelor” jumped week to week by 1.0 million viewers (6.5 million vs. 5.6 million) and by 29% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.4/5) to deliver new season highs.
“The Good Doctor” (10:01-11:00 p.m. – 9.3 million and 1.7/6 in AD18-49):
In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s “The Good Doctor” (1.7/6) beat its combined drama competition on CBS (“Scorpion” = 0.9/3) and NBC (“The Brave” = 0.7/3) by 6% in Adults 18-49. In addition, the ABC freshman drama outdrew CBS’ runner-up “Scorpion” by 3.7 million viewers in the hour (9.3 million vs. 5.6 million).
  • “The Good Doctor” added 1.0 million viewers (9.3 million vs. 8.3 million) week to week and built 6% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 vs. 1.6/6), drawing its biggest audience and tying its top young adult rating in 2 months– since 11/20/17.

Wednesday
Posting week to week increases for each of its Wednesday comedies, ABC ranked No. 2 on the night in Adults 18-49 (1.3/5-tie), coming within 1-tenth of tying Fox for No. 1 (“The X-Files”/”9-1-1” = 1.4/5). ABC claimed 2 of the Top 3 shows as “Modern Family” ranked as Wednesday’s No. 1 TV showin Adults 18-49 (tied with Fox’s “9-1-1”), and ABC’s “The Goldbergs” came in next at No. 3 on the night. The Net matched its top rating on the night with series programming since season-premiere Wednesday (on 9/27/17).
  • At 8:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Goldbergs” grew over the previous week in Total Viewers (+7% – 6.5 million vs. 6.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (+13% – 1.7/7 vs. 1.5/6), drawing its biggest audience in 1 year and a best-since-premiere young adult number – since 1/11/17 and 9/27/17, respectively. The ABC comedy won its half-hour by 21% in Adults 18-49 over runner-up CBS’ “The Amazing Race” (1.7/7 vs. 1.4/5).

  • At 8:30 p.m., ABC’s “Speechless” rose for the 2nd straight week in viewers (+7% – 4.8 million vs. 4.5 million) and young adults (+8% – 1.3/5 vs. 1.2/4) to best-since-premiere results – since 9/27/17.
  • At 9:00 p.m., “Modern Family” gained 7% week to week in Total Viewers (6.2 million vs. 5.8 million) and 13% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.6/6) to earn its highest numbers since mid-October – since 10/11/17. “Modern Family” won its half-hour over Fox’s “9-1-1” by 6% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.7/6).

  • In the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, ABC’s “American Housewife” grew by 11% over the prior week in viewers (5.0 million vs. 4.5 million) and by 8% in young Adults (1.3/5 vs. 1.2/4), marking 3-month highson both counts – since 10/18/17.
Thursday
ABC’s TGIT lineup returned strong after a 2-month break with all 3 dramas up from where they left offin November (since 11/16/17). ABC nearly caught a “Big Bang”-led CBS for No. 1 among Adults 18-49 (1.5/6 vs. 1.7/7), while beating all-original schedules on Fox by 36% (“The Four” = 1.1/4) and NBC by 50% (1.0/4). Topping CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” on the night with Adults 18-34 and key Women (W18-34/W18-49), ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” came back as Thursday’s No. 1 TV show and helped ABC win Thursday primeon all 3 Nielsen measures.
  • In viewers (5.7 million) and young adults (1.5/6), ABC scored 15-week Thursday night highs – since 10/5/17.

  • At 8:00 p.m., ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” returned up from its last telecast in November with Total Viewers (+11% – 8.3 million vs. 7.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (+28% – 2.3/9 vs. 1.8/7), marking its most watched telecast in nearly 1 year and matching a 1-year high among young adults – since 2/9/17 and 1/26/17, respectively.
  • At 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “Scandal” built over its last airing in Total Viewers (+4% – 5.2 million vs. 5.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (+18% – 1.3/5 vs. 1.1/4), scoring best-since-premiere results – since 10/5/17.  

  • At 10:00 p.m., ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” came back with gains over its most recent broadcast in Total Viewers (+3% – 3.8 million vs. 3.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (+11% – 1.0/4 vs. 0.9/4), posting its best numbers since mid-October – since 10/12/17. “HTGAWM” tied for No. 1 in its hour among Adults 18-49 with drama competition on CBS (“S.W.A.T.” = 1.0/4) and NBC (“Chicago Fire” = 1.0/4) and is projected to straight out win the slot once TV Playback is included. In fact, “HTGAWM” is the season’s 2nd biggest gainer on broadcast TV in L+7 Playback in Adults 18-49 (behind only ABC’s “Designated Survivor”), more than doubling its L+SD rating with a +122% lift.
Friday
“20/20” (10:01-11:00 p.m. – 4.8 million and 0.8/3 in AD18-49): 
Building sharply on its lead-in at 10:00 p.m., ABC’s “20/20” stood as Friday’s No. 1 newsmagazineand saw its audience jump week to week by 1.5 million viewers (4.8 million vs. 3.3 million) and advance by double digits in both Adults 18-49 (+14% – 0.8/4 vs. 0.7/3) and Adults 25-54 (+20% – 1.2/4 vs. 1.0/3). The ABC newsmagazine built to new season highswith Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 for the 2nd time in 3 weeks and equaled a season best with Adults 18-49, marking its most watched telecast overall in nearly 1 year– since 2/24/17. Head to head in the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s “20/20” beat NBC’s “Dateline” (3.6 million, 0.7/3 and 1.0/3) by 33% in Total Viewers, by 14% in Adults 18-49 and by 20% in Adults 25-54. “20/20” reported on 13 siblings authorities say were found captive inside a California home.
Saturday
With the third season premiere of “NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC,” the Net won Saturday night among Total Viewers (4.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.2/3). Featuring the Golden State Warriors at the Houston Rockets in its season opener, “NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC” was the evening’s No. 1 TV program in Adults 18-49 (1.4/6). “NBA Saturday Primetime” grew over the year-ago opening game (3.6 million and 1.2/5 on 1/21/17) by 25% in Total Viewers and 17% with Adults 18-49 to mark its most watched starting game.

With another round of strong results for “The Bachelor” and “The Good Doctor,” ABC once again dominated Monday, beating CBS by 1.6 million viewers (7.4 million vs. 5.8 million) and by 70% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 vs. 1.0/4). In fact, it was ABC’s 5th consecutive week as Monday’s No. 1 broadcaster with young adults.  

  • Delivering the top shows on the night, ABC’s “The Good Doctor” repeated as Monday’s most watched TV show overall (9.5 million) and “The Bachelor” as the night’s No. 1 program in Adults 18-49(1.8/6). In fact, head to head from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelor” towered over Fox’s “The Resident” premiere, just one night after airing directly out of the NFC Championship, by 70% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/6 vs. 1.0/4).  Monday’s No. 1 drama, ABC’s “The Good Doctor” also overshadowed Fox’s opener of “The Resident” on the night by 4.8 million viewers (9.5 million vs. 4.7 million) and by 70% in Adults 18-49 (1.7/7 vs. 1.0/4).



“The Bachelor” (8:00-10:00 p.m. – 6.3 million and 1.8/6 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelor” led its 2-hour slot over CBS original comedies in Total Viewers (+3% – 6.3 million vs. 6.1 million) and won by an impressive 64% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.1/4).  “The Bachelor” held at its season high for the 2nd week in a row with Adults 18-49.

“The Good Doctor” (10:00-11:00 p.m. – 9.5 million and 1.7/7 in AD18-49):
In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s “The Good Doctor” (1.7/7) once again bested its combined drama competition on CBS (“Scorpion” = 0.8/3) and NBC (“The Brave” = 0.6/3), leading by 21% in Adults 18-49.  The ABC freshman drama also topped CBS and NBC together in the hour by nearly 1.0 million viewers (9.5 million vs. 8.6 million).

  • “The Good Doctor” built for the 2nd consecutive week in Total Viewers (+2% – 9.5 million vs. 9.3 million) and held exactly even with Adults 18-49 (1.7/7), marking its most watched telecast in 2 months – since 11/20/17.

  • At 10:00 p.m., ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” came back with gains over its most recent broadcast in Total Viewers (+3% – 3.8 million vs. 3.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (+11% – 1.0/4 vs. 0.9/4), posting its best numbers since mid-October – since 10/12/17. “HTGAWM” tied for No. 1 in its hour among Adults 18-49 with drama competition on CBS (“S.W.A.T.” = 1.0/4) and NBC (“Chicago Fire” = 1.0/4) and is projected to straight out win the slot once TV Playback is included. In fact, “HTGAWM” is the season’s 2nd biggest gainer on broadcast TV in L+7 Playback in Adults 18-49 (behind only ABC’s “Designated Survivor”), more than doubling its L+SD rating with a +122% lift.

“Modern Family”: L3 = 8.5 million/2.7 rating, L7 = 9.5 million/3.1 rating and MP+35 = 4.0 rating

ABC Wednesday Prime (8:00-11:00 p.m. – 4.8 million and 1.3/5 in AD18-49):
Posting week to week increases for each of its Wednesday comedies, ABC ranked No. 2 on the night in Adults 18-49, coming within 1-tenth of tying Fox for No. 1 (“The X-Files”/”9-1-1” = 1.4/5).  ABC claimed 2 of the Top 3 shows as “Modern Family” ranked as Wednesday’s No. 1 TV showin Adults 18-49 (tied with Fox’s “9-1-1”), and ABC’s “The Goldbergs” came in next at No. 3 on the night. The Net matched its top rating on the night with series programming since season-premiere Wednesday (on 9/27/17).

  • At 8:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Goldbergs” grew over the previous week in Total Viewers (+7% – 6.5 million vs. 6.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (+13% – 1.7/7 vs. 1.5/6), drawing its biggest audience in nearly 1 year and a best-since-premiere young adult number – since 2/15/17 and 9/27/17, respectively. The ABC comedy won its half-hour by 21% in Adults 18-49 over runner-up CBS’ “The Amazing Race” (1.7/7 vs. 1.4/5).



  • At 8:30 p.m., ABC’s “Speechless” rose for the 2nd straight week in viewers (+7% – 4.8 million vs. 4.5 million) and young adults (+8% – 1.3/5 vs. 1.2/4) to best-since-premiere results – since 9/27/17.

  • At 9:00 p.m., “Modern Family” gained 7% week to week in Total Viewers (6.2 million vs. 5.8 million) and 13% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.6/6) to earn its highest numbers since October – since 10/18/17 and 10/11/17, respectively. “Modern Family” won its half-hour over Fox’s “9-1-1” by 6% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/6 vs. 1.7/6).



  • In the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, ABC’s “American Housewife” grew by 11% over the prior week in viewers (5.0 million vs. 4.5 million) and by 8% in young Adults (1.3/5 vs. 1.2/4), marking 3-month highson both counts – since 10/18/17.
