‘20/20’ REPORT ON ROAD RAGE EMBEDS WITH STATE POLICE FIGHTING THE NATIONWIDE CRISIS AND INTERVIEWS PEOPLE TRAGICALLY IMPACTED IN CAUGHT-ON-CAMERA INCIDENTS
‘20/20: Freeway Fury’ Airs Friday, June 29 (10:01 – 11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC
Just as it is estimated that a record number of Americans will travel this Fourth of July, according to AAA, “20/20” explores the nationwide crisis of road rage. Across the country, motorists are yelling, tailgating and fighting with one another over infractions of the driver code, often caught on amateur video. Correspondent Eva Pilgrim provides an update to the report that aired on June 30, 2017, on these tense situations, how they can quickly become dangerous and even deadly, including the story from just last week in which Jeremy Webster was formally charged with shooting four people in a suspected road rage incident near Denver.
In the hour, “20/20” travels across the country to embed with the Colorado State Patrol as it struggles to rid the roads of rage and interviews the mother of a former New York Jets running back shot to death in an apparent road rage incident in New Orleans; a southern California woman in prison for killing a motorcyclist when she hit him with her car; a Denver “YouTube vigilante” who confronted drivers he considered hazardous; and two young women who had a life-threatening experience with a serial road rager outside Sacramento. 20/20” airs Friday, June 29 (10:01–11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.
“20/20” is anchored by David Muir and Amy Robach. David Sloan is senior executive producer.
