ABC’s “The View” averaged 2.729 million Total Viewers, 446,000 Women 25-54 and 294,000 Women 18-49 during the week of June 18, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” beat CBS’ “The Talk” (2.348 million, 372,000 and 241,000, respectively) across the board, increasing its leads over the CBS program week to week: Total Viewers (+17% – 381,000 vs. 326,000), Women 25-54 (+155% – 74,000 vs. 29,000) and Women 18-49 (+783% – 53,000 vs. 6,000).  In fact, “The View” saw its largest overall viewer lead over “The Talk” in 7 weeks – since w/o 4/30/18.
In addition, “The View” widened its advantages over “The Talk” year to year in all key target measures: Total Viewers (+137% – 381,000 vs. 161,000), Women 25-54 (+517% – 74,000 vs. 12,000) and Women 18-49 (+29% – +53,000 vs. 41,000)
“The View” improved on the previous week (2.631 million, 409,000 and 265,000, respectively, for w/o 6/11/18) in Total Viewers (+4%), Women 25-54 (+9%) and Women 18-49 (+11%).
“The View” was up on the same week last year (2.624 million and 420,000, respectively, for w/o 6/19/17) in Total Viewers (+4%) and Women 25-54 (+6%).
Season to date, “The View” is posting gains compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+2% – 2.890 million vs. 2.847 million), marking its most-watched season in 4 years – since the 2013-2014 season. 
In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” across the board, increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (355,000 vs. 183,000), Women 25-54 (84,000 vs. 57,000) and Women 18-49 (57,000 vs. 54,000).  In fact, “The View” is posting its largest season leads over the CBS program in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 years – since the 2012-2013 season.

ABC Leads Monday With ‘The Bachelorette’ Standing as the No. 1 TV Show

‘The Proposal’ Wins 10 p.m. in Adults 18-34

ABC Monday Prime Time (8:00-11:00 p.m. – 5.1 million and 1.2/5 in AD18-49):
With “The Bachelorette” and “The Proposal,” ABC won Monday in both Total Viewers (5.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.2/5) for the 2nd straight week, equaling summer highs on the evening.

From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelorette” stood as Monday’s No. 1 TV show in Total Viewers (5.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.4/6), posting its 5th week in a row as the top series with young adults. “The Bachelorette” built 1% over the previous week in Total Viewers to draw its 2nd largest audience of the season and held even with Adults 18-49.

At 10:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Proposal” was even with its week-ago debut in Adults 18-49 (0.8/3), while holding steady in Total Viewers (3.7 million vs. 3.8 million). The new ABC series ran neck-and-neck in the hour in Adults 18-49 (0.8/3 vs. 0.9/4) with the second hour of NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” and won the hour by 20% over the NBC unscripted series with Adults 18-34 (0.6/4 vs. 0.5/3).

With its “Sunday Fun & Games” lineup, ABC ranked No. 1 on Sunday for the 3rd straight week in Adults 18-49 (0.9/4). ABC was also once again the most-watched TV network overall of the evening (5.2 million).

  • ABC’s “Celebrity Family Feud” (1.2/5), “The $100,000 Pyramid” (1.0/4) andTo Tell the Truth” (0.8/4) finished as Sunday’s Top 3 TV programs among Adults 18-49, respectively. In addition, “Celebrity Family Feud” qualified as the night’s most-watched entertainment show (6.5 million).



  • At 8:00 p.m., “Celebrity Family Feud” grew over the prior week by 10% in Total Viewers (6.5 million vs. 5.9 million) and 9% among Adults 18-49 (1.2/5 vs. 1.1/5).

  • At 9 o’clock, “The $100,000 Pyramid” added viewers week to week (+10% – 5.6 million vs. 5.1 million) and grew 11% over its week-ago Fast Affiliate Adult 18-49 rating (1.0/4 vs. 0.9/4) and was even with its National rating (1.0/4).



  • At 10:00 p.m., “To Tell the Truth” delivered its most-watched telecast of the season, growing over the prior week by 15% in Total Viewers (4.5 million vs. 3.9 million) and holding even among Adults 18-49 (0.8/4).

Relocating from Thursday at 10:00 p.m. last summer to its new 8:00 p.m. lead-off slot, ABC’s second season premiere of “The Gong Show” built on its September 2017 finale (on 9/7/17) by 1.0 million viewers (3.1 million vs. 2.1 million) and held even with Adults 18-49 (0.5/3), marking its most-watched telecast since the series’ 2nd episode last June – topping its last 8 telecasts, going back to 6/29/17.

Premiering at 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “Match Game” shifted from its most recent time period on Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. with big improvements over its February finale (on 2/21/18) of 67% in Total Viewers (3.5 million vs. 2.1 million) and 75% in Adults 18-49 (0.7/3 vs. 0.4/2). In Total Viewers, “Match Game” outdrew each of its last 7 telecasts, tracking back to its January season premiere (on 1/3/18).

At 10:00 p.m., ABC’s debut of “Take Two” opened at No. 1 in its hour with Total Viewers (3.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (0.5/2 – tie). In addition, ABC’s “Take Two” stands as the summer’s most-watched scripted series debut so far in 2018.

ABC’s “The View” averaged 2.631 million Total Viewers, 409,000 Women 25-54 and 265,000 Women 18-49 during the week of June 11, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” beat CBS’ “The Talk” (2.305 million, 380,000 and 259,000, respectively) during the week in Total Viewers (+326,000), Women 25-54 (+29,000) and Women 18-49 (+6,000). “The View” increased its lead over “The Talk” in Total Viewers by week to week (+38%; vs. 236,000 on w/o 6/4/18) and year to year (+63%; vs. 200,000 on w/o 6/12/17).

Season to date, “The View” is posting gains compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+1% – 2.892 million vs. 2.851 million), marking its most-watched season in 4 years – since the 2013-2014 season. 

In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” across the board, increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (352,000 vs. 182,000), Women 25-54 (84,000 vs. 58,000) and Women 18-49 (56,000 vs. 54,000). In fact, “The View” is posting its largest season leads over the CBS program in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 years – since the 2012-2013 season.

NOTE: Due to breaking news on Friday (6/15/18), “The View” was retitled to “View.”  The telecast is excluded from the weekly averages. ABC’s averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).

‘The Proposal’ Boosts Its Slot Year to Year for the Best Summer Debut in 3 Years

Featuring “The Bachelorette” and the debut of “The Proposal,” ABC won Monday in Total Viewers (4.7 million) and led the night for the 2nd week in a row with Adults 18-49 (1.2/5), hitting summer highs on the evening.

From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelorette” once again ranked as Monday’s No. 1 TV show in Total Viewers (5.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.4/6), posting its 4th consecutive week as the top series with young adults. “The Bachelorette” built 4% week to week in Total Viewers and held even with Adults 18-49.

In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s “The Proposal” opened well ahead of the year-ago debut of “Still Star Crossed” in the hour airing out of “The Bachelorette” (on 5/29/17), lifting the time period by 65% in Total Viewers (3.8 million vs. 2.0 million) and by 60% in Adults 18-49 (0.8/3 vs. 0.5/2). In fact, it was ABC’s top summer debut in the hour in 3 years– since 6/1/15 with “The Whispers.” The new ABC series ran a strong 2nd in the slot with Adults 18-49 to the time-period premiere of “American Ninja Warrior” and won the hour by 40% over the NBC unscripted series with Adults 18-34 (0.7/4 vs. 0.5/3).

 ‘Kimmel’ Tops CBS’ ‘Colbert’ to Rank as the Week’s No. 1 Late-Night Talk Show

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (M-F, 11:35 p.m.)
During the week of June 4, 2018, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” built over the prior week by 10% among Adults 18-49 (786,000 vs. 712,000) to deliver a new season high for the 2nd week in a row with its strongest performance in 1 year – since the week of 6/5/17. In fact, the ABC late-night program posted the best weekly performance for any late-night program since February in Adults 18-49 – since an Olympics-boosted NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” during the week of 2/26/18. “Kimmel” also attracted its biggest overall audience (2.280 million) in almost 3 months – since the week of 3/12/18.

ABC’s “Kimmel” claimed the week’s Top 2 late-night telecasts among Adults 18-49, with its Wednesday (1.281 million on 6/6/18) and Friday (1.175 million on 6/8/18) broadcasts, respectively. In fact, following Game 3 of the 2018 NBA Finals, the Wednesday broadcast of “Kimmel” was the 3rd strongest late-night telecast on any network in Adults 18-49 (1.281 million), outdelivering every broadcast of CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and behind only the 2/9/18 and 11/23/17 telecasts of NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Despite airing two repeats telecasts, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was the week’s No. 1 late-night talk show in Adults 18-49 (786,000), beating CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” by 59% (495,000).

ABC’s 4-Game 2018 NBA Finals Soar Over the Last 4-Game Series in 2007

Fueled by “The Bachelorette,” coverage of the  2018 NBA Finals and a strong return for “Sunday Fun & Games” during the week of June 4, 2018, ABC dominated its 2nd straight week, beating out runner-up NBC by 31% in Total Viewers (6.3 million vs. 4.8 million) and by 50% in Adults 18-49 (1.8/8 vs. 1.2/5).

Also for the 2nd week running, ABC counted the lion’s share of the top-rated TV programs, claiming 9 of the Top 15 TV programs in Adults 18-49, including the Top 2 shows: “NBA Finals on ABC-GM3” – No. 1, “NBA Finals on ABC-GM4” – No. 2, “Celebrity Family Feud” – No. 5, “NBA Countdown-GM3” – No. 6, “The Bachelorette” – No. 7, “NBA Countdown-GM4” – No. 9, “The $100,000 Pyramid” – No. 11, while “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night 3” and “Celebrity Family Feud-6/7” tied at No. 13. In addition, ABC’s coverage of the 2018 NBA Finals delivered the week’s Top 2 most-watched TV telecasts overall with the final two games of the 4-game series.

  • ABC’s 4-game Cleveland-Golden State 2018 NBA Finals soared over the most recent 4-game NBA Finals in 2007 between Cleveland and San Antonio, spiking by 90% in Total Viewers (17.7 million vs. 9.3 million) and by 70% in Adults 18-49 (6.3/27 vs. 3.7/11).



  • ABC scored its most-watched week overall in over 3 months– since airing the “Academy Awards®” on the w/o 2/26/18.

Building on its lead-in by 35% in viewers at 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday (2.7 million vs. 2.0 million), the debut of “The Last Defense” jumped over ABC’s most recent summer premiere in the hour, topping last year’s July slot premiere of “Somewhere Between” (on 7/25/17) by 50% in Total Viewers (2.7 million vs. 1.8 million) and by 67% in Adults 18-49 (0.5/2 vs. 0.3/1). In fact, “The Last Defense” attracted ABC’s biggest summertime audience (Memorial Day-Labor Day) to the hour since August 2016 – since 8/23/16.  The Viola Davis-narrated ABC documentary series topped CBS’ News “48 Hours: NCIS” in the hour among Adults 25-54 (+14% – 0.8/3 vs. 0.7/3).

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (1.421 million), Adults 25-54 (605,000) and Adults 18-49 (499,000) for the 2nd week in a row during the week of June 4, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” beat CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (1.243 million, 392,000 and 292,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+178,000), Adults 25-54 (+213,000) and Adults 18-49 (+207,000).

For the 3rd straight week, “Nightline” turned in gains over the previous week (1.399 million, 547,000 and 456,000, respectively, for w/o 5/28/18) across the board: Total Viewers (+2%), Adults 25-54 (+11%) and Adults 18-49 (+9%). In fact, “Nightline” saw its best numbers in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 in 1 year – since w/o 6/5/17.

On Wednesday (6/6/18), “Nightline” delivered its most-watched telecast (1.978 million), Adults 25-54 (926,000) and Adults 18-49 (801,000) in nearly 1 year – since 6/12/17, 6/9/17 and 6/12/17, respectively. 

Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” across the board: Total Viewers (+15,000 – 1.397 million vs. 1.382 million), Adults 25-54 (+38,000 – 513,000 vs. 475,000) and Adults 18-49 (+37,000 – 389,000 vs. 352,000). 

Stories on “Nightline” last week included interviews with cake artist Jack Phillips and married couple Charles Craig and Dave Mullins before the Supreme Court ruled in Phillips’ favor on Monday; a look at how graduation marks the start of a new path for Parkland seniors; a report from Guatemala and speaking to the victims who are struggling with aftermath of a volcano eruption; a look at Alice Johnson, who spent 22 years in prison for a non-violent drug offense and was freed after Kim Kardashian West met with President Trump to advocate for a pardon on her behalf; and the reaction from Philadelphia Eagles team members and coach Doug Pederson on being disinvited by President Trump from a White House visit and an exploration of the new documentary “Won’t You be My Neighbor.”

With “The Bachelorette” and an encore of “The $100,000 Pyramid,” ABC won Monday night in Total Viewers (4.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.2/5).  

From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “The Bachelorette” repeated as Monday’s No. 1 TV show in Total Viewers (5.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.4/6), marking its 3rd consecutive week as the night’s most-watched series overall.

In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s encore airing of “The $100,000 Pyramid” ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (0.7/3), beating CBS’ first-run “Elementary” (0.6/2) and tying NBC’s repeat “American Ninja Warrior” (0.7/3).

With an encore “America’s Funniest Home Videos” leading into the return of its “Sunday Fun & Games” on the night, ABC won Sunday by 22% over CBS with its 3-hour “72nd Annual Tony Awards” broadcast in Adults 18-49 (1.1/5 vs. 0.9/4). ABC’s season premieres of “Celebrity Family Feud” (1.7/8) and “The $100,000 Pyramid” (1.2/5) stood as Sunday’s Top 2 TV programs in Adults 18-49, respectively.

“Celebrity Family Feud” (8:00-9:00 p.m. – 7.4 million and 1.7/8 in AD18-49): 
Catapulting over its repeat “AFV” lead-in at 8:00 p.m. (+64%/+143%) against the start of the “Tony Awards,” ABC’s fourth season premiere of “Celebrity Family Feud” won its hour in Total Viewers (7.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.7/8). 

  • The ABC game show improved upon its year-ago premiere(7.0 million and 1.5/6 on 6/11/17) by 6% in Total Viewers and by 13% in Adults 18-49, drawing its biggest audience since July 2016 and top young adult number since July 2015– since 7/24/16 and 7/26/15, respectively. It was a 3-year premiere high for “CFF” in Adults 18-49 – since the show’s debut July 2015.



“The $100,000 Pyramid” (9:00-10:00 p.m. – 5.8 million and 1.2/5 in AD18-49): 
At 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “The $100,000 Pyramid” bested its year-ago premiere on the night at 10:00 p.m. by 5% in Total Viewers and (5.8 million vs. 5.5 million) and held even with Adults 18-49 (1.2/5). In fact, “The $100,000 Pyramid” outdrew all 13 of its telecasts last summer in Total Viewers.

“To Tell the Truth” (10:00-11:00 p.m. – 4.2 million and 0.9/4 in AD18-49): 
At 10:00 p.m., ABC’s “To Tell the Truth” shot up from last summer’s premiere on Wednesday at 10:00 p.m. (on 6/21/17) by 45% in Total Viewers (4.2 million vs. 2.9 million) and by 50% in Adults 18-49 (0.9/4 vs. 0.6/3), topping all of its telecasts last summer in young adults and hitting the series’ highest rating January 2017 – since 1/29/17.

With continuing coverage of the 2018 NBA Finals (Cleveland-Golden State GM3), ABC took full control of prime time, topping the other networks combined on Wednesday for the 3rd consecutive telecast by 4% in Total Viewers (13.0 million vs. 12.5 million – CBS, NBC, Fox and CW combined) and nearly doubling the other nets combined on Wednesday in Adults 18-49 (+84% – 4.6/20 vs. 2.5/11).

“Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night 3” (Various Time Periods)
Airing around the NBA Finals in various time periods across the country, “Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night 3” broadened the exposure for the ABC late-night talker in prime time. Growing year over year for the 7th straight yearin Total Viewers (+5% – 4.3 million vs. 4.1 million), “Kimmel: Game Night” drew its biggest-ever audience for a Game Night 3. Building over Night 2 in both Total Viewers (+34%) and Adults 18-49 (+57%), the third broadcast of “Kimmel: Game Night” marked the annual special’s best numbers of 2018 yet.

  • On average, “Kimmel: Game Night 3” was up a sharp 87% in Total Viewers (4.3 million vs. 2.3 million) and 120% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/5 vs. 0.5/3) over the show’s 2017-18 season averages in late-night. 



“NBA Finals on ABC Game 3” (8:58 – 11:37 p.m. EDT)
Featuring the Golden State at Cleveland, ABC’s 2018 NBA Finals Game 3 was Wednesday’s dominant No. 1 TV programwith an average audience of 17.9 million viewers and a 6.4/27 in Adults 18-49. It was the 3rd consecutive broadcast for the 2018 NBA Finals to finish as the definitive No. 1 TV show in prime time. The Golden State Warriors won the game 110-102 to lead the best-of-seven series 3-0. ABC’s “The View” averaged 2.767 million Total Viewers, 454,000 Women 25-54 and 322,000 Women 18-49 during the week of May 28, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” beat CBS’ “The Talk” (2.418 million, 374,000  and 263,000, respectively) during the week in Total Viewers (+349,000), Women 25-54 (+80,000) and Women 18-49 (+59,000).  In fact, “The View” saw its largest Women 25-54 lead since February and biggest in Women 18-49 since March – since weeks of 2/19/18 and 3/19/18, respectively.   

“The View” improved on the previous week (2.596 million, 414,000 and 285,000, respectively, for w/o 5/21/18) in Total Viewers (+7%), Women 25-54 (+10%) and Women 18-49 (+13%), hitting 6-week highs across the board – since w/o 4/16/18.  

For the 8th straight week, “The View” improved in Total Viewers year to year  (+6% – 2.767 million vs. 2.600 million for w/o 5/29/17).  

Season to date, “The View” is posting gains compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+1% – 2.899 million vs. 2.857 million), marking its most-watched season in 4 years – since the 2013-2014 season. 

In addition, “The View” leads CBS’ “The Talk” across the board, increasing its advantages from the same point last season in Total Viewers (352,000 vs. 179,000), Women 25-54 (86,000 vs. 58,000) and Women 18-49 (59,000 vs. 54,000). In fact, “The View” is posting its largest season leads over the CBS program in Total Viewers and Women 25-54 in 5 years – since the 2012-2013 season.

NOTE: Due to Memorial Day on Monday (5/28/18), “The View” and “The Talk” were coded as specials. Each telecast is excluded from the weekly averages. ABC’s and CBS’ averages are based on 4 days (Tuesday – Friday).

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (1.399 million), Adults 25-54 (547,000) and Adults 18-49 (456,000), during the week of May 28, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

“Nightline” posted double-digits gains week to week (1.225 million, 407,000 and 309,000, respectively, for w/o 5/21/18) across the board: Total Viewers (+14%), Adults 25-54 (+34%) and Adults 18-49 (+48%)In fact, “Nightline” saw it best numbers in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 in 11 weeks and strongest in Adults 18-49 in nearly 1 year – since weeks of 3/12/18 and 6/5/17, respectively.

On Thursday (5/31/18), “Nightline” turned in its most-watched telecast (1.812 million) in 9 months and top delivery in Adults 25-54 (802,000) and Adults 18-49 (717,000) in nearly 1 year – since 10/2/17 and 6/12/17, respectively.

Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” across the board: Total Viewers (+11,000 – 1.395 million vs. 1.384 million), Adults 25-54 (+32,000 – 509,000 vs. 477,000) and Adults 18-49 (+31,000 – 385,000 vs. 354,000). 

Stories on “Nightline” last week included coverage of the Sinaloa Cartel’s drug operations and how violence has driven gangs to fight for a slice of America’s lucrative heroin market, a report on the firestorm that was sparked after Roseanne Barr’s since-deleted racist tweet about former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, a look at the life of international superstar DJ Tiesto at Electronic Daisy Carnival and backstage at pool party Wet Republic, a behind-the-scenes look at Cirque du Soleil’s Montreal headquarters to see how they pull off their jaw-dropping performances and an analysis of companies that are making changes after receiving their own social backlash.

With “The Bachelorette” building on its week-ago season premiere and once again facing the Stanley Cup Finals, ABC ranked as the most-watched network on Monday night (4.9 million). ABC’s “The Bachelorette” stood as Monday’s No. 1 TV show in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, marking its 2nd straight week as the night’s most-watched series.

“The Bachelorette” (8:00-10:00 p.m. – 5.8 million and 1.6/7 in AD18-49):
Opposite stiff competition from 8:00-10:00 p.m. against the Stanley Cup Finals, ABC’s “The Bachelorette” grew from its week-earlier premiere in Total Viewers (+5% – 5.8 million vs. 5.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (+14% – 1.6/7 vs. 1.4/5), marking the first time in 15 years for the series to build on its season opener – since Season 1 in 2003 with Trista. “The Bachelorette” was also up from its year-ago second telecast of the season (5/29/17) in Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 18-49 (+7%).

During the week of May 28, 2018, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” delivered a season high among Adults 18-49 (712,000) with its strongest performance in 1 year – since the week of 6/5/17. In addition, the ABC late-night program drew its largest audience (2.231 million) in more than 2 months – since the week of 3/19/18. “Kimmel” shot up over the prior week by 49% in Adults 18-49 and 15% in Total Viewers.

Following Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals, the Thursday broadcast of “Kimmel” (5/31/18) marked the best performance on any night for any late-night program since early February among Adults 18-49 (1.238 million) – since the 2/9/18 telecast of NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” which followed the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics. In fact, Thursday’s “Kimmel” was the 3rd strongest late-night telecast this season in Adults 18-49, outdelivering every broadcast of CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and behind only the 2/9/18 and 11/23/17 telecasts of “Fallon.”

ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was the week’s No. 1 late-night talk show in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.
