CBS’ “The Amazing Race” Scores with Nominations for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program for its 16th Consecutive Year, and Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program

CBS All Access Earns Nominations for “Star Trek: Discovery” and “The Good Fight”

LOS ANGELES – This morning, CBS earned 34 Academy of Television Arts & Sciences 70th Primetime Emmy Award nominations, topping last year’s count by five.

For the second consecutive year, CBS’ THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT garnered Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series.

CBS’ THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN earned Emmy Award nominations for a third year in a row for Outstanding Variety Talk Series and Outstanding Interactive Program, and added nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series and Outstanding Choreography. 

Additionally, Corden’s CARPOOL KARAOKE PRIMETIME SPECIAL earned nominations for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Limited Series, Movie or Special. JAMES CORDEN’S NEXT JAMES CORDEN from CBS on Snapchat garnered nominations for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series and Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series. 

The Network’s THE AMAZING RACE scored a nomination for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. The hit series has been nominated in this key category for 16 straight years. Also, it garnered nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program, among others.

Allison Janney’s award momentum continues with her second consecutive nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for CBS’ critically acclaimed series MOM.

Several CBS specials scored in key categories, including Outstanding Variety Special for the 60th ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS, Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW 50th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL and CARPOOL KARAOKE PRIMETIME SPECIAL, and Outstanding Music Direction for BRUNO MARS: 24K MAGIC LIVE AT THE APOLLO and ELTON JOHN: I’M STILL STANDING – A GRAMMY SALUTE.

CBS All Access earned nominations for STAR TREK: DISCOVERY (Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series, One Hour and Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Limited Series, Movie or Special) and THE GOOD FIGHT (Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics)

CBS Television Studios’ numerous nominated CBS programs include THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT, THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN, THE AMAZING RACE, THE GOOD FIGHT, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and the CARPOOL KARAOKE PRIMETIME SPECIAL.
