CBS DAYTIME’S SUMMER SENSATIONS: “LET’S MAKE A DEAL,” “THE PRICE IS RIGHT” AND “THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS” POST BEST NUMBERS IN OVER THREE MONTHS
For the week ending July 27, LET’S MAKE A DEAL (two), THE PRICE IS RIGHT (one) and THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS posted three-month ratings highs, including:

LET’S MAKE A DEAL (two) attracted 3.33 million viewers, and THE PRICE IS RIGHT (one) attracted an average of 4.51 million viewers – both shows’ largest audiences since the week ending April 20. Additionally, daytime drama THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS scored an average of 4.29 million viewers, also that show’s largest audience since the week ending April 20.

THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT has continued its season-winning dominance through the summer heat, beating “The Tonight Show” in viewers summer-to-date by +43% (3.28m versus 2.30m) and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” by +61% (3.28m versus 2.04m). THE LATE SHOW also ties its closest competitor (“The Tonight Show”) in adults 18-49 (0.5) after trailing last summer.

For summer 2018 to date, THE LATE SHOW is up +4% in viewers versus last summer (3.28m from 3.17m), while maintaining last summer’s numbers in adults 25-54 (0.7) and adults 18-49 (0.5), all according to Nielsen most current ratings.

For the week ending July 20 (Week #43) in live plus 3-day ratings, THE LATE SHOW (3.57m) beat “The Tonight Show” by +1.4 million viewers (versus 2.17m) and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” by almost +1.7 million viewers (versus 1.89m), and tied NBC for first in adults 18-49 (0.5). THE LATE SHOW also posted its largest weekly live plus 3-day audience since the week ending April 20. 

Also for last week, THE LATE SHOW amassed 60 million total views across YouTube and Facebook Watch. Highlights from the week in the digital space include Monday night’s monologue, featuring Colbert’s reaction to President Donald Trump’s press conference alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the show’s Wednesday night “Schoolhouse Rock!”-inspired cold open. Monday night’s monologue was the top-performing clip for all of late night on YouTube for the week according to Tubular Labs.

THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT continued its season-winning dominance delivering its most-watched second quarter audience ever, according to Nielsen live plus 7-day ratings for April–June 2018.
During the second quarter of 2018, THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT averaged 3.63 million viewers, beating its closest competitor by +51% and +1.2 million viewers, which marked its largest margin of victory ever in the second quarter. THE LATE SHOW was the only late night show to demonstrate viewer growth in the window, increasing +5% over the same quarter last year (3.63m from 3.46m) while both “The Tonight Show” (2.41m versus 2.83m, -15%) and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (2.10m versus 2.12m, -1%) were down during the same period.

Also, for the first time ever in the second quarter, THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT tied “Tonight” for the top spot in adults 25-54 (0.8) and adults 18-49 (0.5).

“BIG BROTHER’S” THREE-NIGHT PREMIERE HELPS CBS WIN THIRD CONSECUTIVE SUMMER WEEK

           Three premiere nights of BIG BROTHER (Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday) helped CBS become the most-watched network for the third consecutive week of Summer 2018. The Network also had six of the week’s Top 10 prime broadcasts, and 13 of the Top 20 – more than all other broadcaster networks combined according to Nielsen Live + Same Day Ratings for the week ending July 1, 2018.

For the week, CBS scored 4.32 million viewers. The Network’s top performers included: #2 60 MINUTES PRESENTS (R) (an average for 7.06m viewers), #3 THE BIG BANG THEORY SPECIAL (R) (S) (6.27m), #6 THE BIG BANG THEORY (R) (5.92m), #8 CODE BLACK (5.74m), #9 NCIS (R) (5.68m), #10 BLUE BLOODS (R) (5.39m), #11 BIG BROTHER WEDNESDAY (P) (5.33m), #12 BIG BROTHER THURSDAY (P) (5.13m), #13 BIG BROTHER SUNDAY (P) (4.78m), #14 BULL (R) (4.70m), #16 INSTINCT (4.51m), #17 MOM MONDAY (R) (4.40m) and #18 HAWAII FIVE-0 (R) (4.39m).
