PRODUCTION BEGINS ON BRAVO MEDIA’S ‘DIRTY JOHN’ IN LOS ANGELES

Golden Globe® Award Winner Jeffrey Reiner Set to Direct Premiere Episode; Additional Casting Announced
Series Hails From Universal Cable Productions, in Association with Los Angeles Times Studios and Atlas Entertainment

Los Angeles, CA July 24, 2018 – Bravo Media’s scripted anthology series “Dirty John,” starring Connie Britton and Eric Bana, has commenced production on location in the Greater Los Angeles area and on the Universal Studios lot. Based on the articles and breakout true crime podcast of the same name from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard, “Dirty John” tells the true story of how Debra’s (Britton) romance with the charismatic John Meehan (Bana) spiraled into secrets, denial and manipulation. Golden Globe® Award Winner Jeffrey Reiner (“The Affair,” “Friday Night Lights”) is set to direct the first four episodes and will also serve as an executive producer. Set to premiere on Bravo later this year, “Dirty John” is produced by Universal Cable Productions (UCP), in association with Los Angeles Times Studios and Atlas Entertainment.

Joining the previously announced Julia Garner, Juno Temple and Jean Smart, additional casting includes Kevin Zegers (“Fear the Walking Dead”) as Debra’s nephew Toby; Keiko Agena (“The First”) as Debra’s coworker Nancy; John Karna (“Valley of the Boom”) as Jimmy, Terra’s (Garner) boyfriend; Sprague Grayden (“The Following“) as John’s first wife Tonia; and Cliff Chamberlain (“Altered Carbon”) as Ethan, John’s best man from his first marriage. Zegers is repped by Management 360 and Gersh; Agena by Joseph Le Agency and Link; Karna by Gersh and Coronel Group; Grayden by AKA and Untitled Entertainment; and Chamberlain by Innovative and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Rounding out the production team are Emmy®-nominated Production Designer Ruth Ammon (“Heroes”), Director of Photography Todd McMullen (“The Newsroom”), Emmy-winning Casting Directors Linda Lowy & John Brace (“Grey’s Anatomy”, “Friday Night Lights”), and Costume Designers Guild Award-nominated Susie DeSanto (“Nashville”). Sarit Klein (“Jessica Jones”) joins as Make-Up Department Head and Emmy-nominated Dena Green (“Desperate Housewives”) will serve as Hair Department Head. Music for the series will be composed by Emmy-nominated Mark Mothersbaugh (“The Last Man on Earth”).

“Dirty John” will be executive produced and written by Alexandra Cunningham (“Chance,” “Desperate Housewives”) with Richard Suckle and Charles Roven serving as executive producers for Atlas Entertainment; Mark Herzog, Christopher G. Cowen and Chris Argentieri serving as executive producers for Los Angeles Times Studios; along with Connie Britton, Eric Bana and Jeffrey Reiner serving as executive producers. 

Other UCP series that have filmed on the Universal Studios lot include Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming Julia Roberts-led series, “Homecoming” and USA Network’s limited series “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.”
