‘What Would You Do?’ Airs Friday, July 20 (9:01 – 10:01 p.m. EDT), on ABC
A new episode of “What Would You Do?,” airing Friday, July 20 (9:01–10:01 p.m. EDT), includes scenarios inspired by popular movies including “The Sandlot,” “The King’s Speech,” “Spanglish,” “Billy Elliot”and “Boys Don’t Cry.“ The episode also features special guest Chauncey Leopardi, who played Michael ‘Squints’ Pallendorous in “The Sandlot.”
“What Would You Do?” with anchor John Quiñones reveals how people behave when they think no one is watching by using hidden cameras to record people’s real reactions to thought-provoking scenarios created by actors.
Friday, July 20 scenarios include:
- A child is at a sports memorabilia store trying to replace an autographed baseball belonging to his dad after he accidentally smudged the signature on the original. He discovers he’s a few dollars short. Will fellow shoppers help the child replace the ball or advise him to come clean to his father? Joining to watch the action behind-the-scenes is actor Chauncey Leopardi. This scenario is inspired by “The Sandlot.”
- A waiter is struggling to take a customer’s order due to his stutter. The customer quickly grows impatient and starts to yell at the waiter. What will fellow diners say? Will anyone defend the waiter? This scenario is inspired by “The King’s Speech.”
- A mom and daughter are at a boutique clothing store when the mother tries to force her daughter to try on clothing that is too small. The mother explains that it will motivate her daughter to exercise and lose weight for the summer, but the daughter is clearly uncomfortable wearing a dress so tight. Will anyone step in? This scenario is inspired by “Spanglish.”
- A mother and her two children walk into a sporting goods store. The mother wants to buy her son soccer cleats. The son says he doesn’t want to play soccer, he wants to study ballet. His mother believes that sports are more appropriate for a boy. What will others in the store say to the mother and son? This scenario is inspired by “Billy Elliot.”
- A transgender man and his girlfriend are out in public together when others begin to harass them about their relationship. What will bystanders do? This scenario is inspired by “Boys Don’t Cry.”
