NEW YORK, January 15, 2019 – Comedy Central announced today the details of the 360 content universe surrounding the previously announced one-hour stand-up special Roy Wood Jr.: No One Loves You, which premieres January 25 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT as part of Stand-Up Month on Comedy Central. The special is accompanied by a digital album and exclusive linear and digital companion content custom tailored for Roy Wood Jr.: No One Loves You, including two original sketches elaborating on themes from the stage. The sketches — “The Avenging Ones” and “Snitch Cop” — are introduced by clips from the special that lead directly into the scripted short-form originals.
The custom content and other preview clips will debut on CC Stand-Up social accounts and the recently launched Comedy Central Stand-Up YouTube channel in the weeks leading up to the on-air premiere of No One Loves You. Fans on Twitter can follow Wood at @roywoodjr and CC Stand-Up at @standup to join the social conversation around the special.
The album will be released on all digital retailers and streaming services on the day that the special premieres, January 25, and Wood will appear on Comedy Central’s Friday-night interstitial series Stupid Questions with Chris Distefano, which guides viewers through the night’s programming, the same evening.
On January 26, the full special will be available in the CC App, on CC.com and On Demand, and the uncensored version will be available for digital download on platforms including iTunes, Prime Video, Microsoft Movies & TV, Google Play, Vudu and Verizon Fios On Demand.
Roy Wood Jr.: No One Loves You is Wood’s second one-hour stand-up special for Comedy Central, performed live from Chicago’s Vic Theatre. Following the success of his first special, Roy Wood Jr.: Father Figure, the Daily Show correspondent and host of Comedy Central’s storytelling show This is Not Happening hilariously explores some of today’s most complicated issues. From the plight of the black superhero and national anthem protests to the many failed strategies men have used to avoid #MeToo allegations, Wood covers it all.
Wood, Bob Bain, Norman Aladjem, and Derek Van Pelt are Executive Producers. Anne Harris and Chloe Ifshin are the Executives in Charge of Production for Comedy Central.
Roy Wood Jr’s comedy has entertained millions across stage, television and radio. Roy joined “The World’s Fakest News Team” in 2015 as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s Emmy Award®-winning hit series The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and, in 2017, was named the new host of Comedy Central’s storytelling series This is Not Happening which will launch its fifth season in February. Also in 2017, his first Comedy Central one-hour stand-up special Roy Wood Jr.: Father Figure premiered along with an extended, uncensored album of the same name, released by Comedy Central Records. Entertainment Weekly has described his thought-provoking comedy as “charismatic crankiness.” Prior to joining The Daily Show, Wood co-starred for two seasons on the TBS series Sullivan & Son. Wood has also appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers, CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and TBS’s Conan.
Featuring an expertly curated line-up of series and specials, Comedy Central is the epicenter of stand-up. From its Friday Night Stand-Up anchor on television to its social platforms, from 24/7 access on Comedy Central Radio and the Comedy Central App to home assistants, fans of Comedy Central stand-up consumed over 10 billion minutes of stand-up content this year. The recently launched Comedy Central Stand-Up channel on YouTube is a gold mine of both original material and exclusive clips for fans looking to revisit a classic special from a legendary comedian or discovering a new favorite performance.
