FINAL “DYNASTIES” TUNE-IN SPOTS PLAYFULLY MARRY ANIMAL CHARACTERS WITH ICONIC POP CULTURAL REFERENCES

FINAL “DYNASTIES” TUNE-IN SPOTS PLAYFULLY MARRY ANIMAL CHARACTERS WITH ICONIC POP CULTURAL REFERENCES

New York, NY – January 16, 2019 – As Saturday’s four-network premiere of Dynasties approaches, BBC AMERICA has introduced a set of new tune-in spots for each of the five species featured in the series, playfully marrying the animal “characters” in the show with enduring pop cultural references.
In one of the 15-second spots, appearing on television and social media platforms, footage of the chimpanzee family featured in one of the episodes plays to lilting accordion music and the words, “they keep their friends close, but their enemies closer.” In another, as emperor penguins march on frozen terrain, the words, “for these warriors, winter is always coming” appear.
“Over the last two years, viewers were captivated by the extraordinary filmmaking of Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II.  Dynasties continues this legacy, while pushing natural history storytelling into a whole new species of drama that rivals the most compelling scripted series on television, with humor, suspense, and triumph,” said Courtney Thomasma, executive director of BBC AMERICA. “As we follow five animal families over a number of years, we discover real characters and stories that evoke some of our favorite movies and television series. These spots reference some of those iconic titles with humor and wit as we find that nature often exceeds our wildest imagination.”
Dynasties premieres this Saturday at 9pm with a four-network simulcast on the entertainment networks of AMC Networks: BBC AMERICA, AMC, IFC and SundanceTV. All five episodes of the series will appear on all four networks each week, creating a first-of-its-kind multi-week television event.
