Insiders Open Up on Rod Covlin, Who Staged the Crime Scene & Later Attempted to Frame His Daughter
Debuts Tonight, March 15 at 10pm ET, Features First Interview w/ Covlin’s Ex-Girlfriend

March 15, 2019 – Dateline NBC premieres an all-new hour tonight, March 15 at 10pm ET/9pm CT on Rod Covlin, the New York man found guilty this week of murdering his wife Shele Danishefsky nearly ten years ago for her $5.3 million fortune. During the one-hour broadcast, key players in the case open up about Covlin, who had staged the crime scene and later attempted to frame the murder on his then-teenage daughter.

In an exclusive interview, Covlin’s ex-girlfriend tells NBC News’ Andrea Canning: “I never saw the monster that I eventually came to know until later.” The former girlfriend Debra Oles, who ended up being a key witness in the case, also explains that Covlin “was pretty adamant about his innocence. And he also wanted to start a nonprofit about people who were falsely accused of crimes. There were a lotta people who did believe him. I thought he was innocent at the time.”Click here to watch the exchange on Dateline NBC’s all-new Endgame.

The broadcast also features an exclusive interview with Danishefsky’s sister and brother-in-law Eve and Marc Karstaedt. Additionally, Dateline speaks with Covlin’s parents David and Carol and Covlin’s attorney, Robert Gottlieb.

The episode previously planned to air this Friday, The Motive, will air at a later date.
