Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure: Lead Sheet & Fact Sheet

Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure: Lead Sheet

“Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure” is set between the stories told in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ acclaimed film “Tangled” and its short film “Tangled Ever After.” This visually vibrant animated adventure-comedy series unfolds as Rapunzel acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom and the people of Corona. Her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity lead her to realize that there is so much more she needs to learn about the world and herself before she can assume her role as Princess of Corona. Much to the dismay of the king, she boldly postpones her duty as princess to seek out adventure.
Beloved characters from the feature film accompany Rapunzel on her journey, including her partner in life Eugene (FKA Flynn Rider); her loyal chameleon sidekick, Pascal; no-nonsense and dutiful horse, Maximus; the Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs and Cassandra, a tough-as-nails lady-in-waiting, who becomes Rapunzel’s good friend and confidante.
The series kicked off with the Disney Channel Original Movie “Tangled Before Ever After,” which follows Rapunzel as she struggles with both the new responsibilities of being a princess and the overprotective ways of her father. Rapunzel wholeheartedly loves Eugene but does not share his immediate desire to get married and settle down within the castle walls. Determined to live life on her own terms, she and Cassandra embark on a secret adventure where they encounter mystical rocks that magically cause Rapunzel’s long blonde hair to grow back. Impossible to break and difficult to hide, Rapunzel must learn to embrace her hair and all that it represents.
Both heartfelt and comedic, Rapunzel’s relatable stories model the importance of building and nurturing relationships, and of exploration and self-discovery. In “Tangled Before Ever After,” Queen Arianna gives Rapunzel a journal with the inscription “Plus est en vous,” which means “There is more in you.” This message is an overarching theme for Rapunzel as she explores outside the castle walls and documents her lively adventures in the journal. Rapunzel is a free spirit and fiercely independent with a positive disposition. Her traits of strength, confidence and creativity make her a role model for young viewers who are learning to take on new responsibilities just as she is.
At the heart of the story is Rapunzel’s relationship with her friends and family. She is building and strengthening the relationship with her parents, whom she has just met for the first time since birth; maintaining her relationship with Eugene as she explores her new world; venturing out to unchartered territory with her new friend Cassandra; all while relying on Pascal, her fiercely loyal friend who was her only ally while isolated in the tower.
Reprising their roles from the feature film are Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as Rapunzel and Eugene, respectively. Also starring is Julie Bowen (“Modern Family”) as Rapunzel’s mother, Queen Arianna; Clancy Brown (“Shawshank Redemption”) as Rapunzel’s father, King Frederic; and Eden Espinosa (Broadway’s “Wicked”) as Cassandra.
Produced by Disney Television Animation, “Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure” was developed by animation veterans Chris Sonnenburg (Disney’s “Enchanted”) and Shane Prigmore (“The Lego Movie”). Sonnenburg serves as executive producer and supervising director; Benjamin Balistreri (“How to Train Your Dragon”) is co-executive producer; Jase Ricci (Disney XD’s “Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”) is story editor; and Alan Bodner (“The Iron Giant”) is art director. Celebrated artist Claire Keane (“Frozen,” “Tangled”), who painted Rapunzel’s tower murals in the feature film, is the series’ visual development artist.
The series features songs by Academy Award®-winning Disney legend Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. Emmy® Award-winning Kevin Kliesch (“Tangled Ever After”) serves as score composer.
