(Los Angeles) - Discovery Channel celebrated its own March madness with the network's week-long motor mania event MOTOR MEGA WEEK. From the network that brings you SHARK WEEK every summer, the motor themed week which ran from February 26 - March 5 accelerated Discovery to rank as cable's #1 network in Prime among M25-54, while ranking #2 among P25-54 and M18-49. The STREET OUTLAWS VS. FAST N' LOUD: MEGA RACE special was TV's #2 telecast in M25-54 behind only The Voice, and cable's #1 telecast (excl. sports) across P/M25-54, M18-49, and M18-34 during its March 5 premiere. Throughout the week, Discovery's motor programming reached nearly 18 million Total Viewers (17.91 P2+) across Total Day and was the network's highest-rated week in prime in nearly a year among M25-54 and M18-49.

During MOTOR MEGA WEEK, Discovery claimed more of cable's Top 10 unscripted telecasts (excl. sports) than any other network across M25-54 (7 of the Top 10), M18-49 (8 of the Top 10), and M18-34 (5 of the Top 10), including the STREET OUTLAWS VS. FAST N' LOUD: MEGA RACE special which was #1 in M18-49 and M18-34. The MEGA RACE special also ranks as the #2 unscripted telecast on all of cable so far this year (excl. sports/talk/news) among M18-49, behind the network's own New Year's Day STREET OUTLAWS: BRISTOL Race.

Discovery's series reached ratings milestones during the week with the Monday, February 26 season finale of STREET OUTLAWS: MEMPHIS - the series ranks as the network's highest-rated rookie in two years across P/M25-54, P/M18-49, and P/M18-34. STREET OUTLAWS: NO PREP KINGS premiered on Tuesday, February 27 as Discovery's highest-rated series debut in over two years across M25-54, P/M18-49, and M18-34 and the new series SHIFTING GEARS WITH AARON KAUFMAN debuted on Monday, March 5 as Discovery's highest-rated Monday series debut in over two years among M18-49.

In 2017, the network struck ratings gold with top-rated series GOLD RUSH and GOLD RUSH: PARKER'S TRAIL. GOLD RUSH was cable's #1 unscripted series in M25-54 for the 4th straight year and in M18-49 and P2+ for the 3rd straight year. The hit series also ranked as the #1 show on all of television - including broadcast and scripted - on Friday nights across all key men (25-54/18-49/18-34). GOLD RUSH pushed Discovery to rank as the #1 non-sports network on all of TV in Friday Prime among M18-49 and M18-34, topping all the broadcasters. The network was also cable's #1 non-sports network on the night across the board - all 25-54s, all 18-49s, all 18-34s, and Total Viewers. Michael Phelps may have taken silver against a great white shark in PHELPS VS. SHARK: GREAT GOLD VS. GREAT WHITE, but the special took home gold as Discovery’s highest-rated Shark Week telecast ever across P25-54, W25-54, and W18-49.  PHELPS VS. SHARK: GREAT GOLD VS. GREAT WHITE averaged over 5 million Total Viewers.

In addition to the medals for PHELPS VS. SHARK: GREAT GOLD VS. GREAT WHITE, Discovery was Sunday night’s #1 basic cable network in primetime, while also topping all broadcast networks across P/M 25-54, P/M/W18-49, and P/M/W18-34. Across the whole day, Shark Week programming reached over 15 million Total Viewers. Discovery also claimed the Top 4 unscripted cable telecasts of the day with PHELPS VS. SHARK: GREAT GOLD VS. And for the second year in a row, Discovery finished 1Q as the #1 non-sports cable network in M25-54.

Discovery owned several of cable's top series across individual nights of the week during 1Q, including the #1 unscripted cable series in M25-54 & M18-49 across 4 nights of the week. Driven by the 4-week Mega Race build (STREET OUTLAWS and FAST N'LOUD crossover episodes) Discovery continues to dominate MOTOR MONDAYS with the 3 top series on Monday nights among M25-54 (with STREET OUTLAWS, FAST N' LOUD and DIESEL BROTHERS). The network hit ratings gold once again with the hit series GOLD RUSH coming in as 1Q17's #1 unscripted cable series across P/M25-54, M18-49, M18-34, and P2+. Among M25-54, Discovery owned 7 of the top 10 unscripted cable series. Leading the pack was GOLD RUSH (#1) followed by STREET OUTLAWS (#2). Discovery's New Survival Series "The Wheel" Delivers Cable's Best Friday Launch Since 2015

Among P25-54, THE WHEEL was the best Friday series premiere on all of cable since the premiere of Discovery's own TREASURE QUEST: SNAKE ISLAND in July 2015.
GOLD RUSH continued to strike ratings gold earning a 2.74 P25-54 with 4.9M Total Viewers P2+ coming in #1 on cable for the 5th straight week across P2+ and all adults/men/women 25-54/18-49/18-34. For the 13th straight episode, GOLD RUSH was cable's #1 Friday Prime telecast across P/M25-54 & P/M18-49.

Discovery owned the night's Top 3 cable telecasts (excl. sports) among M25-54 with GOLD RUSH, THE WHEEL and a GOLD RUSH reload. Discovery was cable's #1 network in Friday Prime across all 25-54s, P/M18-49, and P18-34, with P25-54 ranking #1 for the 11th straight week.
