ESPN Films' next documentary in its award-winning 30 for 30 series, "Mike and the Mad Dog," will premiere Thursday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. The film chronicles Mike Francesa and Chris Russo's "Mike and the Mad Dog" radio show that ruled afternoon sports talk from the New York studios of WFAN 660 for nearly 20 years. Even though Francesa and Russo both brought Long Island accents and encyclopedic sports knowledge to the microphone, they were distinctly different personalities who often clashed on and off the air. This chemistry resulted in many memorable moments and when all was said and done, the duo had changed sports radio forever. In this 30 for 30 documentary, director Daniel H. Forer tells the story of Francesa and Russo's success through in-depth interviews, archival tapes and a chorus of colleagues and fans in an effort to capture what made "Mike and the Mad Dog" so compelling.
