OVATION TV UNVEILS THE FIRST TRAILERS, AIRDATES FOR ITS FALL PREMIERE SERIES VERSAILLES (SEASON 2) AND THE HALCYON

Versailles Season 2 will be making its US television premiere Saturday, September 30th at 10pm ET on Ovation. The 10-part one-hour series created a buzz when Season 2 recently aired in France; the series is currently raising eyebrows in the UK with its run on BBC Two. Created by Simon Mirren and David Wolstencroft, and filmed on location at the Chateau de Versailles and at the legendary Studios de Bry in Paris, Versailles is the most-expensive drama series ever produced in France and was recently named the Best TV Drama Export by TV France International.

The returning cast includes George Blagden as King Louis, Alexander Vlahos as Philippe and Anna Brewster as Madame de Montespan. Joining the cast this season are Greta Scacchi (War & Peace) and Harry Hadden-Paton (Downton Abbey). The dark side of Versailles is front and center in Season 2 as Louis overcomes many obstacles - both political and private. As Louis' power grows, so does the Palace, but his lofty ambitions are sometime overshadowed by his private fears, fueled by the strong women in his life.

Set in 1940, The Halcyon shows London life through the prism of war and the impact it has on families, politics, relationships and work across every social strata - set to a soundtrack of the music of the era. Through hope, heartache, challenges and chaos, the staff, owner and guests of The Halcyon are a mirror reflection of the changes occurring in London during one of the most tumultuous times in the city's history.

The Halcyon cast also includes Steven Mackintosh (Luther), Olivia Williams (Anna Karenina), Hermione Corfield (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) and Matt Ryan (Constantine). The series was created by Charlotte Jones and produced by Chris Croucher (Downton Abbey) and Left Bank Pictures (Outlander, The Crown). The eight-part one-hour series premieres on Ovation on Monday, October 2 @ 10pm ET and critics have already hailed The Halcyon as a "Lavish New Drama" - The Guardian, "A sprawling classy affair" - Daily Telegraph, and a "Dazzling Wartime Drama" - Daily Mirror.
