‘20/20’ HAS EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH HOLLY BOBO’S FAMILY FOLLOWING FIRST CONVICTION IN THE CASE
‘20/20’ Airs Friday, September 29 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC

Days after the jury found Zach Adams guilty of the kidnapping, rape and murder of Holly Bobo, anchor Elizabeth Vargas sits down with the Bobo family in an exclusive post-conviction interview. In a case that stunned the nation, in April 2011, 20-year-old Holly Bobo disappeared after she was last seen walking into the woods with a man; her remains were found three years later miles from her home. The search for Holly was the largest and most expensive in Tennessee history and uncovered a darker side of Decatur County, Tennessee, many did not know existed. The hour includes interviews with Karen and Dana Bobo, Holly’s parents; Clint Bobo, Holly’s brother; Whitney Duncan, Holly’s cousin and country singer; Cindy Adams, Dylan and Zach Adams’ mother; Terry Dicus, the original investigator on the case; and more. “20/20” airs FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 (10:00 – 11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.

Shortly after a neighbor heard a scream come from the Bobo home, Clint witnessed Holly walk into the woods. Police rushed to the scene and began searching for her. Volunteers from across Tennessee aided in the search for the missing nursing student but days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, and more than three years later some of her remains were finally located. Authorities looked into multiple suspects including Clint, who was later cleared, and Terry Britt, a convicted rapist who lived in the area; but three years after her disappearance, authorities arrested and charged brothers Zach and Dylan Adams, along with Jason Autry. Another man, Autry’s cousin Shayne Austin, was given immunity for his testimony against Zach, but he took his own life before the trial. Then Dylan confessed that the four men were involved, a confession he has since claimed was coerced.

This summer, Autry was offered immunity for his testimony against Zach, who was the first to go to trial on charges of felony first-degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated rape, for which he pleaded not guilty. During the trial Jason, who claims his only involvement was that Zach asked him to help dispose of the body, testified that it was Zach who killed Holly. But Dicus, who was taken off the case before anyone was charged, testified for the defense that it wasn’t Zach but instead Britt who committed the crime. Britt has not been charged and was cleared. This past Friday the jury found Zach guilty of all charges and he was sentenced to life in prison with an additional 50 years. Despite a verdict in the case, there is still disagreement about whether the right man was on trial.

“20/20” is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer.
