Investigation Discovery (ID), America’s leading crime and justice television network, announced today that its fifth annual INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE honors event, cohosted by PEOPLE, will recognize the remarkable efforts of Padma Lakshmi, Julianna Margulies, Alonzo Mourning and Gabrielle Union, as well as their charity partners, for their commitment to raising awareness and providing resources and education to victims of crime and social injustices. They will be honored at the INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE awards ceremony in New York City on Thursday, November 2 for their incredible work towards the following efforts:



Additionally, as part of INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE, ID will air a programming marathon featuring episodes that address issues such as violence against women, domestic abuse, social and civil rights, mental health, bullying and sexual assault on Sunday, November 5 from 4-11pm ET (3-10pm CT). Throughout the marathon, ID will air PSAs from each of this year’s INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE charity partners, and viewers are also encouraged to engage with ID on Twitter to learn more about the issues being highlighted by this year’s INSPIRE A DIFFERENCE initiatives.   • SURVIVING EVIL “The Queen’s Daughter”

Nineteen-year-old Melissa McCormick is drawn to the bright lights of Detroit to make her big dreams come true. It’s 1976, and Melissa is about to find out why Motor City is also known as the murder capital of America. When she gets a flat tire on the highway late one night, she is kidnapped by a group of armed thugs on a vicious crime spree so confine her to a bedroom for hours and violate her at gunpoint. Though terrified and in tremendous pain, Melissa is determined to take control. Meanwhile, help is on the way. Detroit police are combing the streets, but it will take a miracle for them to find her.

Then, on the first night that Katie's parents finally agree to leave her home alone, Jason breaks in to kidnap her, but his crime escalates further than anyone can imagine.

When single mom Amy meets Jesse, she thinks she has met the man she’ll spend her life with.   • 48 HOURS ON ID “Sophia’s Secret”

These days, Sophia Putney-Wilcox is a beautiful and poised young woman, brimming with self-confidence. But that was not the case in high school when she began dating the popular Adam Shigwadja. Adam quickly became controlling and threatening. She got a court order of separation against him after he entered her home and held her at knife point during one attack, but their relationship continued in secret. Days after she finally broke it off, he again broke into her bedroom, held her at knife point and set the room on fire. Adam escaped but was caught and arrested the next day. He maintained that he had gone there with a knife and that his only intent was to harm himself -- not Sophia. The ensuing trial shocked everyone.

  • DEADLINE: CRIME WITH TAMRON HALL “SoCal Sting”
New Episode / Season Finale: Sunday, November 5 at 9/8c
In Southern California, Ariet Girgis is stabbed to death in her own bedroom. The attackers mysteriously leave Ariet's teenage son unharmed in another room before vanishing without a trace. Both of her sons suspect their father – Ariet’s husband of 24 years – is behind it, but police can’t prove it. The case goes cold until a new detective discovers a tiny overlooked clue that sparks a hot pursuit. The police devise a clever undercover sting, but will the lead suspect fall into their net?

  • ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN “Stolen Dreams”
New Episode Premiere: Sunday, November 5 at 10/9c
When John Greathouse receives a call that his stepdaughter, Kelli Bailey, is late for her overnight hospital shift, he immediately goes to her home to check on her. He finds Kelli laying in her bedroom doorway dead. John is heartbroken. As investigators survey the scene they find a series of puzzling clues left behind by Kelli's attacker. Could a video tape and a dead man's forged check be the keys to bringing a cold-blooded killer to justice?
