Kara is heartbroken after the events of last season's finale, and now rich Morgan Edge (Adrian Pasdar; Heroes; Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is threatening to buy CatCo. A new person in Kara's and Lena's lives, Samantha Arias, seems to be discovering that she has unusual abilities...what will "Sam" end up doing with those? The latest season debuted just six weeks ago, and now Amazon has ALREADY begun taking pre-orders for Supergirl - The Complete 3rd Season on both DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc. These listings are prior to the official Warner Home Video announcement for the items, though, so instead of a street date Amazon merely says "This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives."

Pricing is available, however, currently showing $49.99 SRP for the standard DVD and $54.97 SRP for the Blu-ray (you can, of course, guarantee your copy right away, if you order it using either of the above links). There are no other details available so far at Amazon's entries, nor is there cover art yet (just some temporary promo art). Stay tuned, however, and we'll update you further on this title, just as soon as we find out anything more!
In the meantime, it's worth noting that the timing of this pre-order, and pre-orders for the other three live-action "Arrowverse" programs on The CW, is excellent. Next Monday and Tuesday is the 4-part crossover event, "Crisis on Earth-X"...various episodes which are eventually going to be on these DVDs and Blu-rays we're posting about today. Our heroes from each show will be united to combat the Nazis who won World War II on an alternate Earth. And that four-part story won't exist in a vacuum, either. In the crossover we'll be introduced to "Ray Terrill" (Russell Tovey; Being Human, Quantico, Looking, Doctor Who), a reporter investigating a genetic light bomb, who is exposed to it and gains light-based powers, becoming a hero in the process: "The Ray." We're supposed to see his further adventures in December, when the CW Seed streaming service launches the animated streaming series Freedom Fighters: The Ray (here's a preview).

In the CW Seed show, Tovey will reprise his role as "Ray Terrill/The Ray." And we'll meet Ray's fellow Freedom Fighters: "Uncle Sam," "Black Condor," "Phantom Lady," "Human Bomb," and "Red Tornado" (an Earth-X version, not the Earth-38 version we previously saw in the first season of Supergirl). In the cartoon, the evil New Reichsmen will be voiced by Stephen Amell as "Dark Arrow," Grant Gustin as "Dark Flash," and Melissa Benoist as "Overgirl." Carlos Valdes will be present as "Cisco Ramon/Vibe," and Echo Kellum as "Curtis Holt/Mister Terrific," too. And returning as "Mari McCabe/Vixen" is Megalyn Echikunwoke, who had the same role for the CW Seed's "Vixen" series, and also in a live-action episode of Arrow. This is shaping up to be quite a story, and it will eventually make its way to DVD and/or Blu-ray as well...don't miss it! We'll bring you news about an on-disc release of Freedom Fighters: The Ray, whenever the folks at Warner eventually announce it.
