MAGNIFICENT SEVEN! CBS IS MOST-WATCHED BROADCASTER FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT WEEK

NETWORK WINS FIVE NIGHTS AND BEATS NEAREST COMPETITION
BY ALMOST TWO MILLION VIEWERS; TIES FOR TOP IN KEY DEMOS

Last week CBS took its seventh straight weekly title as most-watched network – winning five nights and beating its nearest competition by +1.95 million viewers (6.72m versus 4.77m, +41%), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending April 22. The Network also tied for the top spot in adults 25-54 (1.3) and adults 18-49 (0.9).

CBS had four of the week’s top five broadcasts (THE BIG BANG THEORY, YOUNG SHELDON, NCIS and BULL) as well as seven of the top 10 (60 MINUTES, MOM, NCIS: NEW ORLEANS) and 11 of the top 20 (SURVIVOR, NCIS: LOS ANGELES, HAWAII FIVE-0 and INSTINCT). The Network also had the #1 program on Thursday (THE BIG BANG THEORY), Friday (HAWAII FIVE-0), Saturday (48 HOURS) and Sunday (60 MINUTES).

On Monday, SCORPION was first in viewers (5.22m) with its season four finale, while on Tuesday the Network won the “most-watched” crown with 10.24 million viewers. NCIS was the top show of the night with 11.43 million viewers, followed by BULL with 10.83 million and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS with 8.45 million.

On Thursday, the Network had its usual stellar evening with 8.41 million viewers, while also winning in adults 25-54 (2.2) and adults 18-49 (1.4). At 8:00 PM, THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in viewers (12.91m), adults 25-54 (3.7/14) and adults 18-49 (2.4/11). Compared to last week, THE BIG BANG THEORY added +140,000 viewers (from 12.77m, +1%) and was the night’s #1 program in viewers and key demos. At 8:30 PM, YOUNG SHELDON was also first in viewers (11.67m), adults 25-54 (3.1/11) and adults 18-49 (1.9/08). YOUNG SHELDON was the #2 program for the night in viewers and key demos.

At 9:00 PM, MOM also finished first in viewers (8.82m), adults 25-54 (2.3/08) and adults 18-49 (1.4/06). MOM was the #3 most-watched program of the evening behind its two lead-ins, while at 9:30 PM, LIFE IN PIECES was also #1 in viewers (6.29m) and adults 25-54 (1.7/05). Rounding out the night at 10:00 PM, S.W.A.T. (5.32m) posted its largest audience since March 8.

On Friday, CBS continued a recent tradition of being the most-watched network – now for the 22nd time this season with 6.31million viewers. At 8:00 PM, MACGYVER was first in viewers (6.27m), adults 25-54 (1.2/05) and adults 18-49 (0.8/04). MACGYVER was the night’s #2 program in viewers behind HAWAII FIVE-0. At 9:00 PM, the Honolulu-based drama was first in viewers (7.52m), adults 25-54 (1.3/05) and adults 18-49 (0.9/04). HAWAII FIVE-0 was the night’s #1 program in viewers and adults 25-54 and the evening’s top broadcast in adults 18-49.

At 10:00 PM, the special MEGHAN MARKLE: AN AMERICAN PRINCESS (S) was first in viewers (5.15m) and ranked as the evening’s #3 most-watched program behind its two lead-ins.

On Saturday, CBS was first in viewers (3.27m). At 8:00 PM, RANSOM was second in viewers (2.86m) while adding +310,000 viewers week to week (from 2.55m, +12%). CRIMETIME SATURDAY NCIS at 9:00 PM was second in viewers (3.35m) while 48 HOURS at 10:00 PM was #1 in viewers (3.60m). 48 HOURS was Saturday's #1 prime program in viewers.

On Sunday, CBS was first in viewers (7.44m). At 7:00 PM, 60 MINUTES was first in viewers (9.02m) and was Sunday night’s most-watched program. INSTINCT at 8:00 PM was second in viewers (7.11m) but was the night’s #2 scripted program in viewers behind NCIS: LOS ANGELES. At 9:00 PM, NCIS: LOS ANGELES was also second in viewers (7.57m) but was the night’s #1 scripted program in viewers, #2 prime program overall behind 60 MINUTES. Wrapping up Sunday, MADAM SECRETARY was first in viewers (6.06m), adults 25-54 (0.9/03) and tied for first in adults 18-49 (0.6/02). MADAM SECRETARY was the night’s #3 scripted program in viewers behind NCIS: LOS ANGELES and INSTINCT.

LAST TUESDAY, OVER FIVE MILLION VIEWERS WATCHED STEPHEN GREET JAMES COMEY ON “THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT”

THE LATE SHOW” BEAT OTHER LATE NIGHT SHOWS COMBINED
THAT NIGHT BY OVER ONE MILLION VIEWERS, AND WAS MOST-WATCHED EPISODE SINCE PREMIERE MONTH IN SEPTEMBER 2015
LAST WEEK, WITH LIVE PLUS 3-DAY VIEWING, “THE LATE SHOW”
BEAT NEAREST COMPETITION BY +1.6 MILLION VIEWERS


Last Tuesday, with former FBI Director James Comey as his guest, THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT delivered a huge 5.20 million viewers, according to Nielsen live plus 3-day ratings for Tuesday, April 17. This was THE LATE SHOW’s third largest live plus 3-day audience to date, behind the program’s series premiere on Sept. 8, 2015 (8.83m) and Sept. 22, 2015 (5.85m). THE LATE SHOW beat “Tonight” (2.30m) and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (1.88m) combined by over one million viewers (vs. 4.18m, +24%). Additionally, THE LATE SHOW added +1.13m viewers, the program’s largest 3-day lift since August 14, 2017 (interview with Anthony Scaramucci).

In addition, the full, un-cut clip of Colbert’s interview of James Comey has over three million views and counting on THE LATE SHOW’s YouTube page.

For the week ending April 20, THE LATE SHOW posted an average of 3.93m viewers, 0.8 in adults 25-54 and 0.6 in adults 18-49 according to Nielsen live plus 3-day ratings. THE LATE SHOW added +740,000 viewers (from 3.19m), +0.1 rating point in adults 25-54 (from 0.7) and +0.2 in adults 18-49 (from 0.4) in live plus 3-day lift from live plus same day ratings.

With 3-day lift, LATE SHOW improved its advantage over “Tonight” in viewers to +1.60m (vs. 2.33m) after leading by +1.00m with same day viewers (vs. 2.19m). With 3-day viewing, LATE SHOW moved ahead of “The Tonight Show” in adults 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.5) after trailing live plus same day (0.4 vs. 0.5).

Season-to-date, most current, LATE SHOW is up +24% in viewers (3.89m from 3.15m), +13% in adults 25-54 (0.9/05 from 0.8/04) and even in adults 18-49 (0.6/04) compared to last season. THE LATE SHOW beats “Tonight” in viewers (3.89m vs. 2.73m, +42%).
