An all-new episode of “Food Exposed with Nelufar Hedayat” will air Tuesday, April 24th at 8:00 pm ET/PT on FUSION. Around the world, traditional crops are being abandoned in favor of using genetically modified organisms (GMOs), as the food industry seeks to combat disease and drought, heighten efficiency and increase profits. In “GMOs,” Nelufar travels across the globe to discover how GMOs, manufactured by giant agro-technology companies like Monsanto, are taking over the world. In the depths of the Arctic Circle, Nelufar visits the Global Seed Vault, a repository which aims to protect every seed in the world and may hold the key to feeding future populations. Fast and Furious star, Jordana Brewster, is passionate about kicking back against GM culture, so she and Nelufar visit a farmers’ market in LA to talk pesticides, labeling and the dangers of monocultures.

But in Argentina, Nelufar sees for herself how productive monoculture growing can be, visiting a country that was saved from economic ruin by the advent of GM soy. Here she meets doctors doing pioneering research into high rates of cancer and birth defects, and the families affected. Yet in the fields of Uganda, scientists testing a new GM drought-resistant maize think it might hold the key to feeding a starving country caught in the midst of a devastating drought. The series dives head-first into a contentious debate: can GMOs be used to feed the starving of the Earth, or are they the product of evil corporations with potentially lethal consequences for humans and the environment?
ABOUT 'FOOD EXPOSED WITH NELUFAR HEDAYAT’
In this eye-opening series, Hedayat pulls the curtain back on what we don't know about the water we drink or the food we eat. The series examines how our appetites shape our world, investigating the global food chain and the origins of our favorite ingredients as she travels the world, and reveals the true cost of food to people, animals and the planet. The series will cover topics such as fish, dairy, water, GMOs, superfoods, palm oil and pork, and also features dedicated celebrity activists Nicole Richie, James Cromwell, Jordana Brewster, Moby, Dominic Monaghan, Amy Smart and Jeremy Irons as they voice their concerns about corruption, environmental destruction and collusion between governments and big business.
