Arlington, Va. – December XX, 2018 – PBS Distribution announces the release of “JAMESTOWN SEASONS 1 & 2” on DVD beginning January 29, 2019.  From the producers of Downton Abbey, this exciting and dramatic series follows the lives of three courageous, dynamic women who decide to leave their dark pasts behind in England, and make the journey of a lifetime across the ocean for a new life in 17^th century America. “JAMESTOWN SEASONS 1 & 2” will be available on DVD (SRP $49.99) January 29, 2019.  The program has a run time of 750 minutes.

 

In Season 1 viewers are taken back to 1619 Jamestown, Virginia. For 12 years, it has been populated only by men, but the settlement is shaken up when the first women, including Alice (Sophie Rundle), Verity (Niamh Walsh), and Jocelyn (Naomi Battrick), land in this breathtaking wilderness. The settlement is on the brink of change summoned by the arrival of a new governor who brings new laws that cause power struggles not only within the town, but also with the native inhabitants, the Pamunkey. While love triangles, bitter rivalries, and fierce competition cause conflict for the residents, ultimately, they are bound together by their resolute will to survive and thrive in their new lives. 

 

Season 2 brings viewers back to Jamestown where Alice, Verity, and Jocelyn are continuing their lives. The colony is thriving and tobacco plantations are starting to provide the wealth they promised. As births, deaths, and broken marriages start to compound, the settlers find themselves again in the midst of new adventures, as a kidnapping, new rivalries, and a traitor threaten to disrupt the peace. New romantic connections are made, desires repressed, and even the purest of loves will be tested. The power of politics will impact the entire community, as the battle for supremacy continues.

 

The ensemble cast includes: Sophie Rundle, Niamh Walsh and Naomi Battrick as the leading female roles. The male leading roles include Max Beesley, Jason Flemyng, Kalani Queypo and Raoul Trujillo. The series is written and created by Bill Gallagher (Lark Rise to Candleford, The Paradise).

 

“JAMESTOWN SEASONS 1 & 2” are produced by Carnival Films, an NBCUniversal International Studios company, and executive produced by Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant (the producers of Downton Abbey), Richard Fell and Gallagher, and produced by Sue de Beauvoir. 

 

“JAMESTOWN SEASON 1” is currently available on digital.  “JAMESTOWN SEASON 2” will be available on digital February 8, 2019.
