AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST NATALIE BRAND JOINS CBS NEWS’ NEWSPATH AS A WASHINGTON, D.C.-BASED CORRESPONDENT

Award-winning journalist Natalie Brand is joining CBS News’ Newspath as a Washington, D.C.-based correspondent, it was announced today. Brand will provide original reporting for the Network’s 24-hour newsgathering service for CBS affiliates and broadcasters around the globe.
Brand’s reporting has earned her a Regional Emmy Award for Best Political Reporting, as well as an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award and two Associated Press Awards.
Prior to this new role, Brand had been a freelance correspondent for Newspath, where she’s covered such stories as the record government shutdown; immigration policy; major congressional hearings; an enterprise about farmers innovating ways to tackle climate change; the mass shooting in Virginia Beach, Va.; and more.
Before joining CBS News, Brand was a political reporter at KING-TV in Seattle from 2015 to 2018, where she covered politics and policy in Seattle and Washington State. During her time at KING-TV, Brand moderated major political debates, helped innovate campaign and election coverage, and tracked trends in individual counties and regions of the state. She was also frequently called to provide political analysis for the area’s NPR station.
She also helped launch, co-host and produce “Washington to Washington” for TVW, a series that looks at the connection between decisions made in Washington, D.C. and impact to people in the Pacific Northwest.
Brand has also reported at KTVK-TV in Phoenix, Ariz., where she helped lead coverage of the Yarnell Hill wildfire tragedy of 2013 which killed 19 firefighters.
She’s also worked as a reporter for KPTV-TV in Portland, Ore., and KPSP-TV, the CBS affiliate in Palm Springs, Calif.
Brand began her career in broadcast news as a writer and associate producer at KFMB-TV, the CBS affiliate in San Diego, Calif.
She’s earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from the University of California, San Diego and a Masters of Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
