ON “CBS THIS MORNING”: EL PASO MAYOR ON STRENGTH OF COMMUNITY FOLLOWING ATTACK

CBS EVENING NEWS anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell sub-anchored CBS THIS MORNING from El Paso, Texas and talked with the mayor Dee Margo about how his community is responding to Saturday’s mass shooting. Margo also revealed that President Trump called him to offer his condolences and asked if there was anything the community needed.

- On whether he has spoken with President Trump: “He called me yesterday, offered his condolences. Was very gracious in his call, wanted to know if there was anything we needed....I told him at this juncture I did not know of anything in particular, but we would be sure to let him know.”
- On what President Trump can say to help the community heal: “I’m not sure there are words out there right now, given what we have gone through, what Dayton has been going through. I wish I knew.
