We reported on the last weekday of 2016 that Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - Season 1 would be coming to DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2017. We linked to Amazon.com's pre-order listings for the title. Then, and now, those entries show a release date of "October 1, 2017"...or "10/1/2017" in American-style date shorthand. We pointed out at the time that 10/1 is a Sunday, and that the date is very likely to be wrong. We asked our contacts at BBC Home Entertainment to clear the matter up for us, and theorized that the date might possibly mean "1/10/2017," or January 10th...today. While we never did get word back from the studio on this matter, we got a LOT of reader emails (thanks to each and every one of you) to inform us that while Amazon continues to show an October date, the title is in stock at a number of other online sellers. Those include the studio's own Shop.BBC.com (on both DVD and Blu-ray), as well as online sites for brick-and-mortar sellers such as BarnesAndNoble.com, Target.com, and BestBuy.com. There are also other online DVD sellers who show it in stock today, including DeepDiscountDVD as an example. So if you want this title, it's readily available today.
