As we listed at the time, back in March 2015 the folks at Shout! Factory released Hey Dude - The Complete Series on DVD. In Canada it was a general release, widely available. But in the USA the title was a Walmart exclusive, available only at their website and at their stores. Other U.S. sellers, including Amazon.com, would often list the title...either selling it as an import from Canada, or providing space for 3rd-party sellers to resell copies bought at Walmart. We've never received word that it was for sale in the States as a general retail item...until now.
We don't have word directly from Shout!, but VideoETA - a website produced by home video distributor Ingram Entertainment - shows that Hey Dude - The Complete Series was made available for "wide" general retail release two days ago, on Tuesday May 9th. The Nickelodeon show's cast includes Christine Taylor, who's since been seen in theatrical films such as The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel, Zoolander, Zoolander 2 and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. So don't be surprised if you suddenly are finding this on store shelves near you...ones that aren't Walmart! Now, if you already own one of the previously-available DVD sets, no worries: the contents are supposed to be identical. It's just being made more widely available in the USA. VideoETA also shows that Shout! is re-promoting Hey Arnold! - The Complete Series, another item that was formerly a Walmart exclusive. However, Hey Arnold! got a general retail release in late 2014, and has been widely available since then. This seems to be a first for Hey Dude - The Complete Series, and we wanted to let our many readers who are Dude fans in on the info! ![]() | ||
