MITSUBISHI MOTORS SIGNS ON AS OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF ABC NEWS’  ‘THE GREAT AMERICAN ECLIPSE’ 

Automaker to Capture Footage During Historic Event to Launch  The All-New 2018 Eclipse Cross CUV in Oregon 

‘The Great American Eclipse’ Airs Monday, August 21 (1:00–3:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, ABCNews.com, Facebook Live, YouTube and Across ABC News’  Social Media Channels

Mitsubishi Motors will be the exclusive sponsor of ABC News’ ‘The Great American Eclipse’ live coverage event of the first total solar eclipse visible in America in 38 years. The automaker will capture footage during the start of the eclipse just south of Salem, Oregon, to celebrate the launch of their all-new vehicle, the 2018 Eclipse Cross CUV. The Eclipse Cross will make its television debut in New York City’s Time Square, during “Good Morning America” on August 21, with footage airing at the point of totality, exclusively on The ABC Television Network, and live streamed on ABCNews.com and the “Good Morning America” Facebook page. Additionally, Mitsubishi will air five co-branded promos during the broadcast.

 Produced by special events senior executive producer, Marc Burnstein, ‘The Great American Eclipse’ airs Monday, August 21 (1:00–3:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network, ABCNews.com, Facebook Live, YouTube and across ABC News social media channels. Anchor David Muir will lead the live coverage from Charleston, South Carolina, with chief meteorologist Ginger Zee in Nashville, Tennessee, and meteorologist Rob Marciano in Lincoln Beach, Oregon, and a team of correspondents fanned out across the country including senior national correspondent Matt Gutman, “The View” cohost and ABC News correspondent Sara Haines, and correspondents Clayton Sandell, Steve Osunsami, Nick Watt, Eva Pilgrim, T.J. Holmes and Adrienne Bankert.

“August 21 will be an exciting day where Americans across the country will have an opportunity to view a total solar eclipse. We wanted to make certain that we took advantage of the unique setting to gather creative assets for our all-new Eclipse Cross CUV,” said Francine Harsini, senior director, Marketing, MMNA. “We’re thrilled to partner with ABC News to share Mitsubishi’s unique perspective of the solar eclipse as we’ll be live streaming the event from one of the very first locations that the solar eclipse hits in North America.”

Mitsubishi will be capturing images of the Eclipse Cross underneath the total solar eclipse for its ongoing marketing efforts. Viewers will also get a look behind the scenes and watch Mitsubishi’s epic photo shoot unfold as it attempts to capture both Eclipses in the same shot before the celestial event ends. Based on NASA’s calculations, that gives the production crew one minute and 57 seconds to capture the perfect shot or wait seven years for another opportunity.
