UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — July 30, 2019 —NBC has tied for #1 for the primetime ratings week of July 22-28 in adults 18-49 and won the week in total viewers, according to “live plus same day” viewership figures from Nielsen Media Research. 

It’s the sixth week in a row NBC has finished #1 or tied for #1 in total viewers and fourth time in five weeks NBC has earned at least a share of the 18-49 lead.

“America’s Got Talent” continued its streak this summer of ranking as television’s #1 most-watched entertainment show every week it’s aired, while last week also tying as the #1 program of the week in the key adult 18-49 demo. 

In 18-49, Tuesday’s “Bring the Funny” ranked #6 among primetime shows on the Big 4 networks, Monday’s “American Ninja Warrior” tied for #7, Wednesday’s “Ellen’s Game of Games” encore tied for #10 and Monday’s “Dateline NBC” tied for #14. “Talent,” “Ninja,” “Bring the Funny” and “Dateline” also finished in the top 10 in total viewers.

Season to date, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 (tie), all key adult-female demos and men 25-54 (tie). 

Excluding sports, NBC leads the season by +0.2 of a rating point, the biggest lead for any network at this point in the season in seven years, since Fox also led by 0.2 at this point during the 2011-12 season. In total viewers, excluding sports, NBC is running within 1.173 million persons of #1 CBS, NBC’s closest position to #1 in total viewers at this point in the season, excluding sports, in 16 years, since trailing by 564,000 persons at this time in 2002-03.

NBC highlights for the week of July 22-28:

Monday
“American Ninja Warrior” (0.8 rating in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) grew +4% week to week in total viewers (4.7 million vs. 4.5 million) to hit a three-week high, best since July 1 (4.749 million). “Ninja” doubled CBS’ rival “Love Island” in 18-498 (0.8 vs. 0.4) and total viewers (4.7 million vs. 1.9 million).
L+35+Digital+Encores: Within 35 days, “American Ninja Warrior” has been growing this summer by +179% in adults 18-49 and +7.2 million viewers overall versus its next-day “live plus same day” Nielsens, to a 2.64 rating in 18-49 and 11.8 million viewers overall in L+35+digital+encores.
“Dateline NBC” (0.6 rating in adults 18-49, 1.0 in adults 25-54, 4.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) reported a Monday season high in total viewers while ranking #1 in the timeslot among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults, 25-54 and total viewers.

Tuesday
NBC won Tuesday night in 10 of 10 key ratings categories, easily beating the other Big 4 networks combined in 18-49 and total viewers. “America’s Got Talent” and “Bring the Funny” were the #1-2 shows of the night on the Big 4 networks in every key ratings measure.
“America’s Got Talent” (1.7 rating in 18-49, 10.1 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) equaled its season high in 18-49, scoring as the night’s #1 program in all key ratings categories. L+35+Digital: “America’s Got Talent” is growing by +179% versus its next-day “live plus same day” Nielsens after 35 days of digital and linear delayed viewing, growing all the way to a 4.18 rating, while adding +9.2 million viewers, increasing to 19.0 million persons in L+35+Digital. Social: “AGT” is the #1 most-social broadcast series this summer, having amassed 18 million total interactions to-date in 24/7 metrics.
“Bring the Funny” (0.9 rating in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) won the 10 p.m. hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in 10 of 10 key ratings measures and ranked as the #2 Big 4 telecast of the night in each of those categories. In its third week on the air, “BTF” maintained 100% of the prior week’s 18-49 rating. L+7+Digital: “Bring the Funny” is increasing by +95% versus its next-day “live plus same day” Nielsens after seven days of digital and linear delayed viewing, growing to a 2.06 rating, while adding +3.8 million viewers, growing to 9.2 million persons in L+7+Digital.

Wednesday
An encore “Ellen’s Game of Games” (0.7 rating in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in the timeslot in 18-49 versus the original competition of ABC’s “Press Your Luck” and Fox’s “Masterchef,” while defeating CBS’ original “Love Island.” Vesus the prior week’s rebroadcast, “Games” was up +17% in 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.6) and +3% rise in total viewers (3.3 million vs. 3.2 million).
A 9 p.m. rebroadcast of “Songland” (0.5 rating in 18-49, 1.9 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the prior week’s encore in 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.5) and outrated Fox’s original “First Responders Live” in the timeslot in 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.4).
“The InBetween” averaged a 0.3 rating in 18-49 and 2.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET). L+35+Digital: “The InBetween” is increasing by +163% versus its next-day “live plus same day” Nielsens after 35 days of digital and linear delayed viewing, growing to a 1.36 rating, while adding +3.2 million viewers, increasing to 6.7 million persons in L+35+Digital.

Thursday
An encore of “The Wall” (0.5 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) beats “Love Island” in total viewers by +41% (3.1 million vs. 2.2 million) and ties the CBS original in 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.5).
“Hollywood Game Night” (0.5 rating in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) has maintained a steady 0.5 in 18-49 with each of its three original telecasts so far this summer. This week’s “HGN” outrated ABC’s timeslot-rival “Family Food Fight” in 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.4) and total viewers (2.4 million vs. 1.9 million) and tied Fox’s “Spin the Wheel” in the demo (0.5 vs. 0.5).
A rebroadcast of “Law & Order: SVU” (0.4 rating in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall) was up versus the previous week’s encore by +0.1 of a point or +33% in 18-49 (0.4 vs 0.3) and +15% in total viewers (2.4 million vs. 2.1 million).

Friday
NBC tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks Friday night in adults 18-49.
An encore telecast of “American Ninja Warrior” (0.4 rating in 18-49, 2.2 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) tied as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and led the timeslot among those nets in 18-49 and 25-54.
“Dateline NBC” (0.4 rating in 18-49, 0.6 in adults 25-54, 2.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied as the #1 show of the night in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. Head to head in the 10 p.m. hour, “Dateline” outrated “20/20” in 25-54 (0.6 vs. 0.5) and total viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.2 million). L+7: Through the traditional September-to-May season, Friday’s “Dateline” grew by +51% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.57 to a 0.86) and more than +1.2 million viewers overall (3.5 million to 4.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

NEW YORK — July 30, 2019 — Original telecasts of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” tied “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in adult18-49 rating and won in adults 25-54, women 25-54 and women 18-49 for the week of July 22-26, according to “live plus same day” figures from Nielsen Media Research. 

“Tonight” earned a 0.30 rating in adults 18-49 for its Monday-through-Thursday original telecasts, matching the 0.30 for “Colbert’s” Monday-through-Friday originals. Originals of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” ran Monday through Thursday and averaged a 0.29.

Last week at 12:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” topped CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key categories (including a tie in women 18-34). Season to date, Meyers also leads both “Late Late Show” and ABC’s “Nightline” in “most current” averages in every key ratings category.

TODAY has now won the key demo for 47 straight months (187 consecutive weeks), its best streak in nearly seven years. No other morning news show has been number one in the demo for as long a streak.

Additionally, TODAY narrowed the total viewer gap with GMA by 63% year over year and 49% month over month. Season-to-date, TODAY is posting its closest total viewer margin versus GMA in seven years and its biggest lead over CBS in three years.

July 30, 2019 – NBC News with Lester Holt is the #1 evening newscast in the key A25-54 demo for the month of July, according to Nielsen Media Research. Additionally, Nightly News continues to lead season to date in the demo most valued by advertisers.

The broadcast averages 1.466 million viewers in A25-54 in July, topping CBS by +495,000 and ABC by +8,000. This marks Nightly News’ fifth consecutive July win and its 11th monthly win in the past 13 months in the key news demo.

Nightly News also continues to top CBS and ABC season to date, and is on track to score its 12th consecutive season win in A25-54 and its 23rd straight season win in A18-49.

During the past month, Holt sat down with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for his first U.S. network interview since tensions recently escalated in the Gulf. He also reported on the earthquakes in Southern California in real time from Los Angeles earlier this month.

Last week at 12:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” topped CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” rebroadcasts in adults 18-49 by a +40% margin (with a 0.21 rating vs. a 0.15). UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — July 23, 2019 — With “America’s Got Talent” dominating the Big 4 competition, NBC won handily in total viewers and tied for #1 in 18-49 for the primetime ratings week of July 15-21, according to “live plus same day” viewership figures from Nielsen Media Research. 

Tuesday’s “America’s Got Talent” was the #1 program of the week at 8-10 p.m. in total viewers and #2 in 18-49 against all Big 4 network competition. Other NBC shows in the top 10 in 18-49 were “American Ninja Warrior,” “Bring the Funny” and “Dateline NBC.” Both “Bring the Funny” and “American Ninja Warrior” also placed in the top 10 in total viewers.
“Talent” has ruled as the week’s #1 entertainment show in total viewers every week so far this summer.

Season to date, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and is #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in adults 25-54, adults 18-34, and all key adult-female demos. In total viewers, excluding sports, NBC is running within 1.210 million persons of #1 CBS, NBC’s closest position to #1 in total viewers at this point in the season, excluding sports, in 16 years, since trailing by 586,000 persons at this time in 2002-03.

NBC highlights for the week of July 15-21:

Monday
Both “American Ninja Warrior” (0.9 rating in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) and “Dateline NBC” (0.7, 3.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m.) were even in 18-49 from the previous week, with “American Ninja Warrior” seeing a slight uptick in total viewers (4.49 million à 4.53 million).
“American Ninja Warrior” and “Dateline NBC” were the #2 and #3 shows of the night, respectively, in both 18-49 and total viewers. 

Tuesday
NBC dominated the night in 18-49, with its 1.3 outperforming CBS, ABC and Fox combined. Its 8.0 million total viewers was better than the other three networks combined as well.
“America’s Got Talent” (1.5 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m.) and “Bring the Funny” (0.9 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m.) were the #1 and #2 shows of the night in 18-49 and most demos, as well as total viewers. Both “AGT” and “Bring the Funny” more than doubled any other Big 4 programs in 18-49 in their respective timeslots.
In L+3+digital, the July 16 episode of “America’s Got Talent” is now up to 2.8 in 18-49 and 14.8 million viewers. In L+3+digital, the July 16 episode of “Bring the Funny,” the #1 new alternative program of the summer, is now up to a 1.6 in 18-49 and 7.6 million viewers.

Wednesday
An encore “Ellen’s Game of Games” (0.6 rating in 18-49, 3.2 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) outperformed original competition in the timeslot from CBS’ “Love Island” by 20% in 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.5) and by +33% in total viewers (3.2 million vs. 2.4 million). “Games” was even in 18-49 from the previous week.
A rebroadcast of “Songland” (0.5 rating in 18-49, 2.1 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) was even in 18-49 from the week before and tied in the demo with original episodes of ABC’s “Card Sharks” and Fox’s “First Responders.”
“The InBetween” (0.4 rating in 18-49, 2.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) was even from the prior week both in the demo and total viewers. L+35+Digital: The “InBetween” season premiere increased by +151% versus its next-day “live plus same day” Nielsens after 35 days of digital and linear delayed viewing, growing to a 1.43 rating, while adding +3.3 million viewers, increasing to 7.0 million persons in L+35+Digital.

Thursday
An encore of “The Wall” (0.5 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) easily beats CBS’ original “Love Island” in total viewers by +34% (3.4 million vs. 2.5 million).
“Hollywood Game Night” (0.5 rating in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) topped rival alternative “Family Food Fight” (2.3 million) in the timeslot (2.3 million) and tied in 18-49.
A rebroadcast of “Law & Order: SVU” (0.4 rating in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall) tied for #1 in the timeslot among ABC, CBS and NBC versus the original dramas “Elementary” and “Reef Break.” L+35+Digital: This past season, “SVU” grew by +263% in 18-49 to a 3.12 rating going from next-day “live plus same day” Nielsens to “live plus 35 day plus digital” results, and grew by +5.9 million persons to 10.0 million total viewers.

Friday

“Tonight’s” 0.34 rating in adults 18-49 for the encore week outscored the 0.33 for “Kimmel” originals and a 0.21 for “Late Show” encores.

Last week at 12:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” encores topped CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” rebroadcasts in adults 18-49 by a +29% margin (with a 0.18 rating vs. a 0.14). An encore “Ellen’s Game of Games” (0.6 rating in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) original competition in the timeslot from CBS’ “Love Island” and by +35% in total viewers (3.493 million vs. 2.588 million) while tying it in 18-49 rating (0.6 vs. 0.6). “Games” grew +20% versus the prior week’s rebroadcast in this timeslot in 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.5) and +30% in total viewers (3.493 million vs. 2.683 million).
A 9 p.m. rebroadcast of “Songland” (0.5 rating in 18-49, 2.0 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) jumped +67% versus the previous week’s encore in this time period in 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.3) and +26% in total viewers (2.010 million vs. 1.589 million), to tie Fox’s original “First Responders Live” in the timeslot in 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.5).

NEW YORK — July 10, 2019 — Encore telecasts of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” have dominated the holiday ratings week of July 1-5, winning in adults 18-49 and most other key demographics over “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” according to “live plus same day” figures from Nielsen Media Research.
“Tonight’s” 0.32 rating in adults 18-49 for the encore week outscored the 0.25 for “Kimmel” rebroadcasts by a +28% margin and the 0.23 of “Late Show’s” encores by +39%.
Last week at 12:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” encores topped CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” rebroadcasts in adults 18-49 by a +29% margin (with a 0.18 rating vs. a 0.14). Season to date, Meyers also leads both “Late Late Show” and ABC’s “Nightline” in “most current” averages in every key ratings category.

In total viewers, Tuesday’s encore recap of “America’s Got Talent” is #1 for the week, with Thursday’s 8-10 p.m. “Macy's 4th of July Fireworks® Spectacular” #3 and Monday’s “American Ninja Warrior” #7.

In adults 18-49, NBC place seven shows among the top 15 primetime telecasts of the week: the Tuesday “AGT” recap (tied for #4), Thursday’s 8-10 p.m. “Macy’s” coverage (tied for #6), “Ninja Warrior” (tied for #8), “Songland” and a 10-11 p.m.”Macy’s” recap (tied for #10) and Monday’s “Dateline NBC” and a Sunday “AGT” encore (tied for #12).

“The InBetween” averaged a 0.3 rating in 18-49 and 2.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET. L+7+Digital: After just seven days of linear and digital delayed viewing, “The InBetween” is doubling in adults 18-49 and adding +2.2 million viewers overall to its next-day “live plus same day” results, increasing to a 1.04 rating in 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall.

Thursday
NBC dominated primetime, with the “Macy's 4th of July Fireworks® Spectacular” and the 10 p.m. “Macy’s” recap giving the network convincing primetime wins in every key ratings measure. For the night, NBC equaled the other Big 4 networks combined in adults 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.3 each for ABC, CBS and Fox).

The newscast also averages 1.009 million viewers in A18-49, topping ABC by +98,000 (+11%) and CBS by +332,000 (+49%), and is aup vs. the prior week.
NBC’s flagship newscast continues its reign as #1 season to date, topping both CBS and ABC in A25-54 and A18-49, and is on track to clinch its 12th consecutive season win in A25-54 and its 23rd consecutive season in A18-49.

NEW YORK — July 2, 2019 — “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” has generated five-week highs to win the late-night ratings week of June 24-28 in adults 18-49 and most other key demographics over “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” according to “live plus same day” figures from Nielsen Media Research. 

The week featured live telecasts on Wednesday and Thursday night for “Tonight,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and “Colbert” following primetime’s Democratic presidential debates. Note that Friday’s shows were encores and “Colbert’s” rebroadcast is excluded from these averages .

“Tonight’s” 0.41 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.103 million viewers overall for the week are the show’s best since the week of May 20-24 (0.42 in 18-49, 2.121 million viewers).

“Tonight's” 0.41 rating for the week in adults 18-49 tops “Colbert’s” 0.32 by a margin of +0.09 of a rating point or +28%. The +0.09 advantage equals “Tonight’s” biggest over a week of mostly original “Late Shows” since Fallon won by +0.34 the week of Nov. 19-23, 2018. Excluding weeks of high-rated primetime NFL overruns, this matches “Tonight’s” biggest advantage over “Colbert” since Sept. 17-21, 2018 (+0.15).

Last week at 12:35 a.m. ET, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” won the timeslot versus its broadcast competition in every key measure while delivering the show’s most-watched week (1.164 million) in five weeks (since May 20-24, 1.185 million) and matching its top 18-49 rating (0.22) in five weeks (May 20-24, 0.25). 

Season to date, Meyers leads both CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and ABC’s “Nightline” in “most current” averages in every key ratings category.

“Tonight’s” week was boosted by strong results for live telecast, particularly Thursday night, when Fallon outscored “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” by a margin of +41% in adults 18-49 (with a 0.52 rating vs. a 0.37).

It was the highest-rated and most-watched Thursday telecast of “Tonight” since Dec. 20, 2018 (with guests Felicity Jones, Jimmy Carr and musical guest Bebe Rexha, 0.53 in 18-49, 2.456 million viewers). 

A live telecast of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” also surged Thursday night, scoring a 0.30 that equalled the show’s highest Thursday rating since Feb. 7 (0.31) and generating overall viewership of 1.448 million, the show’s best for a non-NFL Thursday since March 15, 2018.
Digital / Social: “The Tonight Show” generated the six most-viewed Facebook videos of the week across the late-night competition, with all six topping the 1 million views mark (Source: ListenFirst Media, ListenFirst Content Video Views [Facebook], LF//TV Universe // Episodic, 06/24/19-06/30/19). UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — July 2, 2019 — With two nights of Democratic debate coverage and “America’s Got Talent” ranking #1-2-3 in adults 18-49 and total viewers, NBC has won the primetime ratings week of June 24-30 in 18-49, viewers and every other key measure, according to “live plus same day” viewership figures from Nielsen Media Research.
NBC-only results for the Thursday and Wednesday debates (also carried on MSNBC and Telemundo) ranked #1-2 for the week in adults 18-49 and #1-3 in total viewers, while “America’s Got Talent” finished #3 in 18-49 and #2 in viewers. 

Those shows were joined among the week’s top 10 programs in 18-49 by Tuesday’s “Songland” (tied for #8) and Monday’s “American Ninja Warrior” (tied for #10).


Thursday’s debate coverage amassed 18.1 million viewers combined on NBC, MSNBC and Telemundo, making it the most-watched Democratic debate ever.
“Talent” has ruled as the week’s #1 entertainment show in both adults 18-49 and total viewers every week so far this summer.

Season to date, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and is #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in adults 25-54, adults 18-34, men 18-49, men 25-54 and all key adult-female demos. In total viewers, excluding sports, NBC is running within 1.303 million persons of #1 CBS, NBC’s closest position to #1 in total viewers at this point in the season, excluding sports, in 16 years, since trailing by 650,000 persons at this time in 2002-03.

“Live Plus Seven Day Plus Digital” Ratings: Within just seven days, across linear and digital platforms, “American Ninja Warrior” has been growing this summer by +96% in adults 18-49 and +3.7 million viewers overall versus its next-day “live plus same day” Nielsens to a 1.85 rating in 18-49 and 8.3 million viewers overall.
“Dateline NBC” (0.6 rating in adults 18-49, 0.9 in adults 25-54, 3.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied for the timeslot win among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and took the hour outright in adults 25-54 and total viewers.

“America’s Got Talent” (1.6 rating in 18-49, 10.1 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) matched the show’s highest 18-49 rating since its May 28 season premiere (1.7) and hit a new season high in total viewers with a second straight week of viewer growth. It’s the most-watched entertainment show on television since ABC’s May 22 Norman Lear special (“Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s All in the Family and The Jeffersons,” 10.4 million). “Talent” was the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and all other key categories. L+7+Digital: Within seven days, across linear and digital platforms, “America’s Got Talent” is adding +91% in adults 18-49 and +5.2 million viewers overall versus next-day “live plus same day” results, rising to a 3.07 rating in 18-49 and 14.8 million viewers overall.
“Songland” (0.9 rating in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) ranked #1 in the timeslot among ABC, CBS and NBC in 10 of 10 key ratings measures – adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers -- maintaining 100% week to week in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.9). Wednesday
An encore telecast of “Ellen’s Game of Games” (0.7 rating in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew versus the prior week’s rebroadcast in this slot by +40% in 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.5) and +12% in total viewrs (3.3 million vs. 2.9 million).
NBC News, MSNBC and Telemundo coverage of Wednesday’s portion of the two-night Democratic presidential debate together drew a total of 15.3 million viewers, beating every primary debate during the 2008 and 2012 election cycles and scoring as the day’s most-watched program. The DNC-sanctioned debate averaged 4.3 million in adults 25-54 and 3.7 million adults 18-49 across NBC, MSNBC and Telemundo from 9-11 p.m. ET. The debate live stream saw more than 9 million viewers and 14 million video views across all platforms, including NBCNews.com, MSNBC.com, Telemundo.com, NBC News NOW on OTT devices, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Users spent an average of 40 minutes watching the debate via on-net platforms, according to Adobe Analytics. The debate content for the day garnered more than 18 million total views across all platforms and devices.

Thursday
An encore telecast of “The Wall” (0.7 rating in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew versus the prior week’s rebroadcast in this timeslot by +40% in 18-49 rating (0.7 vs. 0.5) and +20% in total viewers (3.7 million vs. 3.1 million).
NBC News, MSNBC and Telemundo made television history with the most-watched Democratic debate ever for night two of the first Democratic presidential debate of the 2020 campaign, averaging 18.1 million total viewers across the three networks. Thursday’s debate was also the top Democratic debate ever in the key adult 25-54 demo with 5.3 million viewers in that category, and attracted more than 9 million live stream viewers, surpassing the metrics of Wednesday’s opening night of the debate.
Thursday’s debate surpassed the previous highest-rated Democratic presidential primary debate (Oct. 13, 2015) by +2.6 million total viewers (+17%) and +378,000 adults 25-54 (+8%). Compared to night one of the Democratic debate, TV viewership was up by +2.8 million viewers (+19%) and +936,000 adults 25-54 (+22%), with all three individual networks seeing growth.
The digital debate content garnered more than 27 million total views for the day and more than 45 million total views for both nights, across all platforms and devices. NBC Stay Tuned’s coverage of the debates attracted more than 2.5 million users, 75% under the age of 25.

Friday
NBC finished #1 among the Big 4 Friday night in adults 18-49.
An encore telecast of “American Ninja Warrior” (0.6 rating in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) tied with “Dateline” as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49. The June 28 encore delivered “Ninja’s” highest 18-49 and total-viewer results among four Friday encores so far this summer, and marked the third consecutive week that the Friday encore has increased its overall audience.
“Dateline NBC” (0.6 rating in 18-49, 0.9 in adults 25-54, 3.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied with NBC’s “Ninja Warrior” encore as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and was the #1 show of the night outright on those nets in adults 25-54. July 2, 2019 – NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt is the #1 most-watched newscast in the A25-54 demo, marking its fourth consecutive quarterly win in the key news demo, according to Nielsen Media Research. The newscast is also #1 for both last week and season to date in A25-54.

Nightly News led the broadcast newscasts for its fourth straight quarter win with an average of 1.565 million viewers, topping CBS by +521,000 and ABC by +2,000. 

Additionally, Nightly News won the week of June 24 in the key news demo with an average of 1.441 million viewers, beating CBS by +544,000 and ABC by +11,000. Lester Holt was in Miami last week as one of the moderators of the first Democratic presidential debate, which was watched by more than 18 million viewers on television and set a record as the most-watched Democratic debate ever.

Season to date, Nightly News continues to lead in both the key news demo and the younger A18-49 demo.
