A VISIT WITH ROCKER STING AT HIS ITALIAN VILLA, A TALK WITH FASHION DESIGNER BRUNELLO CUCINELLI, THE TRUE TALE OF PINOCCHIO AND MUCH MORE IN AN ENCORE OF “CBS SUNDAY MORNING’S” SPECIAL “A SUNDAY MORNING IN FLORENCE”

A visit with Sting at his Italian villa, a talk with famed fashion designer Brunello Cucinelli, the true story behind Pinocchio, a look at foods of the region and much more, when CBS SUNDAY MORNING visits Italy in an encore of “A Sunday Morning in Florence,” to be broadcast Sunday, August 18 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.
Sunday’s broadcast, anchored by Jane Pauley, will feature Mark Phillips’ report on the increasing number of Americans with Italian roots who are becoming citizens and moving there.
Pauley travels to the Santa Maria Novella Pharmacy, believed to be the oldest apothecary in the world, where in the 1300s monks invented rose water. She will also look at the history of the region, including visiting Michelangelo’s masterpiece, David, and one of the world’s great museums, the Uffizi Gallery. She’ll also talk with Clet, an artist who alters street signs with funny, clever, provocative stickers.
Seth Doane reports on three popular foods from Italy – buffalo mozzarella, Nutella and espresso.
Alina Cho catches up with music superstar Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, at their Italian villa, where they share stories about their home, his music career and being grandparents. Lee Cowan travels to the birthplace of Pinocchio. Rita Braver talks with author Frances Mayes, who in 1990 bought a house in Tuscany and whose story would become the basis for the bestselling book – and movie – Under the Tuscan Sun.
Martha Teichner explores the works still made by hand by artisans in Florence.
Tracy Smith visits the small town in Italy that was saved when fashion designer Brunello Cucinelli decided to move the headquarters and manufacturing plant to the rural location.
CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the executive producer.
