HISTORY(R) TO PREMIERE GROUNDBREAKING DOCUMENTARY "AUSCHWITZ UNTOLD" COMMEMORATING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIBERATION OF AUSCHWITZ

NARRATED BY ACADEMY AWARD-WINNING ACTOR BEN KINGSLEY
PREMIERES SUNDAY, JANUARY 26 AT 9PM ET ON HISTORY

Pasadena, CA - January 18, 2020 - HISTORY is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz with a new two-hour documentary "Auschwitz Untold" premiering Sunday, January 26 at 9pm ET. The documentary depicts the chilling story of the Nazi persecution and extermination of European Jews by combining newly colorized footage from the Holocaust and rare, first person interviews with survivors. Academy Award-winning actor Ben Kingsley (Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story, Schindler's List, Anne Frank: The Whole Story and Operation Finale) narrates.

Seventy-five years after the liberation, survivors, who were young children at the time of the Holocaust, reflect on the tragic circumstances that lead to their internment and reveal the ways in which they survived the brutal Nazi campaign. "Auschwitz Untold" features moving and revealing testimony of more than 15 Holocaust survivors including the seldom heard voice of a Romani survivor and a member of the Jewish underground who participated in armed resistance against the Nazis.

"I'm honored to lend my voice to this crucial documentary, and to have the opportunity to tell these heart-wrenching stories from a dark period in our collective history. We must never forget the atrocities of the past and keep alive the memory of the millions who perished in such tragic circumstances," said Kingsley.

Viewers will witness colorization of black and white archive footage and a contemporary resonance to the unprecedented horrors of the not so distant past. Ultimately, a story of incredible courage, faith, and resilience emerges from the darkness of this horrific chapter in history.
In addition to "Auschwitz Untold," HISTORY will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2020 with a slate of premium programming, including the 3-night miniseries event "Washington" and the six-part miniseries "Grant,"and the new experiential ventures HISTORYTalks and HISTORYCon that will bring history to life for fans.
